Carrying selections of blues, folk, and world music can sometimes act as a deterrent to potential patrons. However, with the Landing, the fun is finding these hidden and rare gems and not having to pay ridiculious prices to get them. They are going to have records in every section that you couldn't find elsewhere and, although some of them are hidden for good reason, it is nice to go through records that haven't been picked through by every DJ in the radius.

Pros: great selection, nice owner, good value

Cons: lacks new releases

This business operates with the belief in supporting local, independent shops whenever possible. They support the community that they are a part of - family-owned, small, local businesses. They have a great selection of music, mostly rock, indy, and folk, and a little of everything else. They have used as well and you can sell your records, DVDS, and CDs to them. This is the most kid-friendly record store I know of - there is a kid's section with toys, music, and books. I don't have kids, but I like it because it is relaxing. I don't have to worry about whether I'm hip enough to shop there. If they don't have the title you need they can order it and it comes fast. They really know their music there, so trust their recommendations. I like to go shop at Whole Foods and then pop in the Landing a block away and see what's new in music.
