I had my hair cut with Kelly and I love it so much!

and I had my deep conditioning treatment with Angela! my hair became more shinny and volume after she style my hair.

The atmosphere is cozy, smells good, natural and friendly people.

I think mode organic salon is the best organic salon I have ever been! all of them are professional! I highly recommended this salon.

but its a bit pricey to me for deep conditioning treatment. it's about 77. I am a college student, so 77 is a bit pricey to me. However, I don't mind if I have it with Angela before party or formal dinner with my friends.

Kelly is a rockstar, literally and figuratively speaking. I love the way he does my hair! I can tell that this is something he really loves to do, and he excels at it. He has an eye for hair, and is perhaps one of the most naturally talented stylists I've ever come across.

He's also very friendly and unimposing. Perfect for a relaxing time at the salon.

Getting free hand massages while getting your hair colored is also a real treat!

Negotiating his hours are a bit tricky, as he mostly works a traditional 9-5 schedule. But if you can manage it, he's totally worth it.

After having a baby, I have neglected my hair. I have been wearing it up and doing the "easy" thing while juggling the baby and life (which isn't always cute or fabulous). It was time for a change. Kerry did an amazing job!! I told her to make it fabulous, yet simple. I got just that and more!! It has been a few days since my new hair and I love it more every day!!! The cut is perfect and the color is much more than I could have expected a color to be. It has been so easy to maintain. I have cute hair, even with baby food on me most of the time and two minutes to get ready. I drove a long way to get a good cut and color-I got just that! I feel like I can have fabulous hair, even after a couple late nights with the baby! Having natural curly hair, I am always afraid to trust someone with my hair, but Kerry gained my full confidence!!! I would highly recommend anyone to trust Kerry with their hair needs. Kerry and the salon are both "green" which makes me feel even better about getting great hair. Thank you Kerry and Thank you Mode. XOXO

When I arrived there I was scared to death - a guy demaged my hair completly dying it 2 in a roll, few days before in another place in Capitol Hill. He barely knew the language, much less what he was doing. I'm a tan colored brazilian girl and he made me blonde - worse, my hair had 3 different weird colors. My wedding is happening in a week and I wanted something just perfect. The next day I was looking here to find a good place, where I'd not demage my hair even more and I found the description of an Organic Salon (Mode).
They heard my story and booked me asap (following day!!!) in their tight schedule with Amy. I left the place amazed - it's a cozy small salon, where you can talk to everyone (not only your stylist, others as well and the front desk girl that offers you tea as you walk in), friendly, professional... you even get free hand massage!
I'm going on my eloping trip relieved - I'll have orchids in a beautiful and natural colored hair. Amy saved my wedding!!!

I totally agree with the others Shannon Cotton is the best. I was very disappointed to find out that she is no longer at Mode that is a huge loss for this salon. After some searching however, I did find her!! She has A chair at Soci Hair Studio and check this out it is just down the street. So if your missing Shannon or are just looking for a new amazing stylist check her out.

I made an appointment at Mode based on the "Shannon or Kerry...tough choice" review here on citysearch. Shannon was on vacation and Kerry had an opening for the next day (!) so I signed on. I was greeted with a drink of chilled water, and given a special smock to wear so that I could remove my collared shirt while I had my cut (nice touch!). Kerry started our appointment by introducing herself and then patiently viewing the twenty or so pictures I had to show her. She gave me feedback as I showed the pictures so that we knew we were on the same page. Then, she started cutting. The whole time she was cutting, I felt so secure - never nervous about what my outcome would be. Her conscientious nature was obvious and really put me at ease. She dried my hair and then continued to sculpt and blend - she was not going to let me leave until every hair on my head was cut to her satisfaction. If you are looking for a stylist who can listen to your needs and then deliver, choose Kerry. She is AMAZING. I have had a nightmare of a time trying to find a stylist and I am thrilled to report that I have finally found my match.

I?ve been seeing Shannon at Mode for quite a while and I absolutely love her and would recommend her to anyone. However, on my last visit Shannon was sick and I was asked to see a different stylist by the name of Kerry. I was very apprehensive especially since I had never even seen her in the salon before (I guess she?s kind of new). But since I was in desperate need of some hair help I decided to roll with it. She was really friendly and great to talk to, AND she totally gave me a killer haircut! I think she even stayed late to take me which is awesome customer service. I?ve never had anything but great experiences with Mode and it?s really nice to know that the people who work their have each other?s backs. It must be a really great place to work. Now my only dilemma is who to schedule my next hair cut with! BTW, the stylists who?ve worked there for a while are often hard to get into because they are so popular. I highly recommend getting in to see Kerry while she?s still new as I?m sure she?ll be difficult to get into see very soon!

I just recently read the review by another customer of MODE and I am seriously wondering if we went to the same salon? I have been going to my stylist there for quite sometime now, in fact we use her for all of our family! I have always recieved great customer service, each one of the stylists that have been there are friendly and strive to take care of thier customers. I have never seen the salon "dingy", "dirty" or "bare". The atmosphere in this salon is inviting and cozy. We just recently moved about 4 hours away, and I will still be making appointments with my stylist to have my hair cut and colored. This is the only place in my "34" years that I haven't had my hair screwed up! I have met the owners of this salon and I can honestly say that if anyone were to have an issue with any service they recieved they would do what ever they could to correct that problem. You know that you have a great stylist, when you have people ask all the time, who your hair stylist is, and when your stylist's schedule is so booked with her regular customers, that you need to remember to make your next appointment while you are in the shop! I applaude the staff at MODE and will continue to patronize them for as long as I can! If you want to look great and feel good about the cut you want, MODE is the place to go.

I have been a regular customer of MODE for several years and leave a decent tip. I see the same stylest on a regular basis and make my appointments well in advance, coordinating my appointments with her availibility. Imangine my surprise recently when I showed up for my appointment (scheduled well inadvance at the conclusion of my previous appointment) when I was directed to a different stylest. My regular stylest was there and did not have a customer but they tried to convince me that I had booked this new stylest and not my regular one. Totally untrue, in fact I did not know the new persons name, nor do I recall having seen her previously. Much to my better judgement I allowed her to proceed with the appointment. I received one of the worse color, cut and style that I have had for many years. The ability of this preson to meet my expectations or even to just follow the color and cut that I have been receiving previously was disappointing. I could go on about the quality of cut and color and the poor value in relation to the price paid but the worse was yet to come.
Imangine my surprise when after about 45 minutes after my appointment started, a women burst in with her daughter breathlessly exclaiming her thankfulness to my regular stylest for "making time" to do her daughter's hair at the last minute for an important occasion. Suddenly I knew ... I was "dumped" to accomodate another customer and worse yet, lied to by the salon as they tried to cover up and convince me that somehow I was the one that changed stylest. What were they thinking, that they would get me out of the salon before the other customer arrived and I would never be the wiser.
Oh, well I have moved on and so have at least 2 of my friends that also regularly went to MODE. I will continue to use review websites to tell others of my expierance and hopefully let you know that a customer at MODE is not much more that a warm piece of meat with money to spend.

I have had two haircuts at Mode Roosevelt. Each cut was with a different stylist. The first cut was so-so, perhaps not completely worth the price. But the location was very convenient and the stylist was friendly. Plus, I liked the cozy, earthy interior decor.

When I called to schedule another cut, I was told that my stylist had "left," and I was assigned another person. The new stylist GAVE ME ONE OF THE WORST CUTS I HAVE EVER RECEIVED. (This is saying something. I'm in my 30's, and I've had a lot of cuts.)

At the beginning, she seemed nice enough, maybe shy. I explained what I wanted, which was pretty simple. A medium-short cut. I really thought I was clear: "Please do not take too much off, just shape it up a little..." Well, she nodded like she knew what I meant. But she proceeded to give me a serious hack job! Like, inches too short. And uneven! (When I got home I saw that there were places where the scalp was visible!) I didn't really say anything at the time, I was kind of stunned and disappointed, and I could tell she didn't really want my feedback. I even tipped her well (out of habit). I guess after things really settled in I could have gone back and got my money back, or received another cut by someone else - but I just wanted to stay away for good.

Oh -- the nice interior of the salon that I had remembered? Well - it looked really dirty, bare, and dingy this time. I wonder if they are having financial problems? Or maybe I just stopped in on a bad day?

I've never written a review like this before, but I feel compelled to do so this time. I don't want to leave the stylist's name, because I don't want to hurt her reputation, and maybe she's good with other people's styling needs? But still, I can't believe I'm the only one who's had this bad experience there. And the rave reviews really factored into my initial decision to go there. So that's why I'm writing this now - to balance out the other reviews.

I have been going to Mode Rosevelt Salon for a few years now and see Kelly who I adore. I love his color and he always makes me feel welcome and special. I had an apointment today which unfortunatly Kelly had to cancel last minute for a family emergency. Joe stepped up and squeezed me in even though all technitians were fully booked and he had very little time he made it work for a valued client. Bravo. Just the kind of treatment which make a loyal client. Love you guys.

After having really disappointing and expensive touch ups in other salons around Seattle, I followed the recommendation of the latest Seattle's Best list and went to see Joe for a color. I've never had organic color before so I was a little skeptical. Boy, this was a wonderful experience. I thought when I met Joe that this was a special place, but when I sat down under the dryer and someone started massaging my hands, I KNEW this was special! The color came out just great and the bonus was Joe gave me the best blowdry that my coarse, curly hair had ever had. My only issue is Joe only works limited hours and I work full time! I can't take a day off to see Joe. I will go back to his salon though as he must train his staff well.

I LOVE Mode! I love it the most because of Shannon Cotton - she exudes the artistic j'en sais quois, solidity, and knowledge that everyone should be blessed to have in a stylist. My hair is stick straight and she continues to weave the necessary magic that transforms it into a halo of heavenly body every 8 weeks. Not only does she give the perfect haircut, her abilities with color are unsurpassed. Thank you, Shannon!!!

I know I was spoiled by brother-in-law who is not only a top stylist but also owns a couple of top line salons in Hong Kong, he has been taken care of my hair forever. After moving here for more than a year I finally find Mode, a friendly, cozy and safe (use only organic products) salon. Anna, my stylist, she is excellent. She knows exactly what I wanted, skillful and patience. Anna's attention to detail is highly appreciated. I am totally satisfied and happy with my experience there. Anna asked me what was my highlight of the day, I said to her - my hair cut.

After experiencing some of the most exclusive salons in new york, santa fe, toronto and vancouver I finally found someone who can cut my hair. Shannon Cotton has turned my hair into a gorgeous head of curls- it has never looked better. Since going to Shannon at Mode I am routinely stopped on the street and even had someone come over to my table while dining out to ask me who was cutting and coloring my hair. Every time I see her ( once every 2 months- her cuts continue to look good) she spends 15 minutes discussing what I want, never assuming and never imposing her own style unless asked. A stylist who trusts that a 44 year old woman knows her own hair and what she wants and actually listens. The non-toxic coloring products Mode imports from Europe create the most natural lasting color I've had in 12 yrs and Shannon 's knowledge and expereince with these products is exceptional. Best hair experience in 25 years!

I have been going to Anna Lee for the last few months. Anna spends the extra time to figure out exactly what you want done with you hair and offers great recomendations, Which I have been thrilled with. My hair looks so much better after seeing Anna, my self confidence has definately been given a boost. I get compliments all the time. Instead of the regular tired salon service Mode employees give you a hand/arm massage while you wait for your color to set. The salon also offers a relaxing and professional environment in addion to a glass of wine.

Kelly is great; not only is he a professional, but he is very calming. Joe, the owner, was very friendly and welcoming upon my arrival at the salon. Kelly listened to what I wanted done to my hair, then used his experience and expertise to create a cut I am happy with. I hadn't had much luck getting my hair cut just right, until now. I never felt like the cut was rushed. I will definitely go back to Mode for as long as I live in Seattle. Thanks Kelly.

It's hard to find a salon that can give you a cut and color without taking up half of your day, especially in north Seattle. Celeste gave me a great haircut and color in two hours and it didn't cost a fortune. She also gave me a wonderful hand massage. It was the perfect two-hour pampering experience.

Shannon Cottin knows curls! Finally, 42 years later, i've found a stylist who not only has curly hair but knows what to do with it - a superb cut and (even better) she knows how to trim curly hair. And about the color...i've never had more people comment on how great my hair looks. Shannon made my hair healthy, soft and richly colored without using chemicals! I love that! I am highly recommending Mode Hair Salon and if you have some curl Shannon is your girl :)

This was the best haircut I have ever had!!! Awesome massage, awesome people, fantastic product's. I have never ever been happier! If you aren't getting how much I enjoyed my experience, it was so good I refused to use the discount. Paying full price was a bargain for the service's I received. Celeste took her time and was receptive to everything I had to say. I have finally found a hair dresser that listens to me. Hallelujah!

I've been going to Mode for almost 3 years now and I've had the opportunity to see several of the stylists who work there. Only once was I disatisfied with my hair and I let them know. I was quickly scheduled for a redo and my hair was fixed for free and looked great! The situation was handled quickly, professionally with ease! I believe that the biggest indication of a truly great business is how they respond to a disatisfied client. I often get compliments about my hair and I refer everyone I know to Mode. Having tried many salons throughout the city, I truly think Mode stands above them all!

I had a color and style. The color DIDN'T cover my greys, nor did it cover up any previous hair color I had on my hair. I told the stylist that I wanted my previous color to be covered. The result is that I have subtle layers of color that run like bands around my head, weird. Also, I told the stylist that I wanted a wash and wear cut. I've had similar cuts all my life, so I know this was not a strange/impossible request. She gave me the exact opposite. I have to style it if I want it to look decent. Since, I don't have time for styling, it always looks like crap. The stylist was also the absolute slowest I've ever encountered. Beware. Don't go here. They don't listen to their customers. Their skill and products are awful.

I don't like inhaling toxic fumes form nail polish or chemical hair dyes. At Mode, I am safe - they use non toxic products whose essential oils make me feel relaxed and refreshed! I have had my hair highlighted by Philana and Shannon with great results. Joe's cuts are fun and feminine and very easy to style at home - they are probably the best I have had. So far, I have only been to the Roosevelt salon which I like for it's personal and friendly atmosphere. After having tried many Eastside salons, I find it's worth driving to Mode for a great cut and a very relaxing experience.

I am so happy with my new Do I can hardly stand it! Even 2 weeks later I am still getting compliments on it! The best thing about it is that I asked for something easy to manage in this Seattle weather and that is exactly what I got! Bravo!

SO, SO rude...my stylist could not have been more unfriendly or done a worse job...my color looked no different than when I left, and she had the nerve to tell me literally over and over how bad a shape my hair was, to the point where my feelings were hurt. If my hair was in such bad shape she should have said that she could not do it and shouldnt have wasted my time (and money) and her time. I have never felt more uncomfortable at a salon and wanted to leave so badly. Mode is ridiculously overrated, trust me...GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!

W/ (oh so) natural curls to my locks, it's always difficult to find a stylist who can work my scalp w/out me coming out looking like Shirley Temple. However, at Mode I was treated to care, skill and uncontained intution on how to handle the mop. The atmosphere was relaxing w/out pretension, and the staff was pleasant as a gum drop.

I went into Mode for a haircut, and some pretty vague ideas on what I wanted in a hair style. Kelly gave me a great, very versatile hair cut (I now have both a sexy bob AND long hair---all in one cut. Freaking amazing, I know).

Then, I came in and got highlights to brighten up my naturally blonde hair (it gets dark in the winter). They perfectly matched my natural highlights, and no one can tell I got them done--I just look more blonde. Plus, they were nice, and reasonably priced, with no obnoxious fumes from color products. Great place. Go there.

It's easy to feel comfortable in this cozy salon even for a shy person like me. My stylist, Kelly Dale, was on time, professional and practically psychic about what I was looking for in a new hairstyle. He has a gift, I swear. I couldn't articulate how I wanted my hair cut exactly but he totally got it and gave me some simple styling tips that are really flattering. He didn't try to push products on me and patiently answered my billion questions without seeming annoyed. The complimentary head/neck massage was a nice touch. I walked in there feeling self-conscious and nervous and walked out feeling fabulous- for real. I am always happy to support conscious businesses like Mode that are good to their employees and the environment, but it helps a lot that the service and quality is excellent, too. I'm definitely going back!

After two bad color jobs and a not-so-good haircut (NOT DONE AT MODE), I was desperately searching citysearch.com for a good colorist / stylist. I knew Molly was brand new to Mode, but I needed to get in quickly, so I was willing to take the chance.

I was SO pleased with the time Molly spent discussing the condition of my hair; the plan of action for future colors and was thrilled with her obvious knowledge. Most importantly, I LOVE with my haircut. Haven't had a bad hair day since seeing Molly!

I had no idea what to do with my waist-length hair, so I went to mode to get some advice. Paul gave me a beautiful layered style. I have never been so happy with my hair! This is the first salon I have been to that put so much effort into ensuring that I was happy with the results. Paul put so much time into perfecting it! I've never experienced such excellent service at such a great price. You must check this place out.

OK, first bad haircut here two weeks ago was 'tolerable' despite that I didn't get the complimentary scalp/shoulder massage (included with every service). BUT TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, owner offered me money back or 're-do' by another "so-called" more experienced stylist. Gave them second chance but other stylist BUTCHERED the original cut even more!!! Went in with hair almost grazing my shoulders and it's now in very choppy, short, VERY UNEVEN layers at base of my ear lobes!!! IT'S TERRIBLE! A horribly embarrassing, unflattering bob on my round face and Im even missing an entire chunk of hair behind my right ear! Stylist had nerve to say, Its only hair; it will grow back - then tried to give me make-up tips and sell me cosmetics that would make my face appear slimmer! (more like to cover up her terrible fix!) DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE!

As a girl from the eastside, its easy to stay in the bubble but when I was ready for a big change, I trusted citysearch and blindly went into mode by just calling and asking for the first appointment I could get. Amy was AMAZING, and even though my hair is black and I was dead set on going as light as I could, she did an amazing job! The staff is crazy friendly, honestly the nicest people I've ever dealt with as far as hair, nails, tanning, any salon situation, period. Amy was actually genuinely concerned that I was pleased and a week later I got a follow up call asking me if I was completely happy with my services because if not they'd redo them for free! Seriously, how much better of service could you ask for?

I visited Mode for a long-overdue haircut after reading all the glowing reviews on Citysearch, and I was not disappointed. Paul, my stylist, was fabulous -- he took the time to find out my hair, the products/tools I use, and my styling preferences, as well as the cut I was thinking of getting. He took so much care and time with my cut to make sure that every layer was just right, the edges softened up just right, etc. All the stylists in the salon were very friendly and created a relaxed, fun environment. And of course, the scalp/neck/shoulder massage was a wonderful touch. It's hard to imagine why or how some users could have been so disappointed with Mode!

This is a great salon. I was looking for a salon close to Ballard. I read the reviews on citysearch and decided to give it a try. It's a small salon with a nice atmosphere. The owner, Joe, greeted me when I came in. Melissa was my stylist. She really listened to my issues with my current cut and gave me a really nice cut that is low maintenance yet stylish -- just what I wanted. She was relaxed and personable and I had a good time talking with her. The prices are very reasonable and I'm looking forward to getting color next time I go in. I highly recommend this salon and have already referred several friends!

They are really all about providing an "experience" for the money at Mode. Amy did a great job cleaning up my raggledy hair (she is also fun to chat with, great sense of humor!). I felt good the whole time I was in the chair. The tea and neck massage are also a wonderful touch. For $43 (with the CS coupon), I had my hair cut, got two travel size shampoos, and gave her a big tip. Amazing; I'm a convert.

The stylist was more interested in selling hair product rather than giving a good hair cut. I asked for a side bang and I ended up having a bunch of weird looking short hair. When I said that I didnt like it the hairstylist would not fix it. It was so bad that I had to hide the so called side bang everyday

I made the big decision of leaving my regular stylist after several mediocre experiences. The reviews at Mode intrigued me so I decided to give it a shot. So glad I did. Philana and I spent a good five or ten minutes discussing my hair and what I wanted to do with it. Yes, the scalp massage was great but I was so impressed by the amount of time Philana spent making sure my cut was perfect. This is the happiest I've been with my hair in a really long time and the hour I spent at Mode was amazing. Just as a reminder people - getting your hair done SHOULD be an experience, not just a cut. Can't wait to go back.

Reading the reviews on Citysearch I decided to check out mode. Why some of those others were not satisfied is beyond me. I was greeted with a smile and catered to like a queen. When the scalp massage was completed and I was taken to the shampoo bowl I thought... "Could it get any better than this?". Yes! My haircut and style was what I have been searching for and the service is top notch. Also, the education that I recieved about the product lines and my haircut is something that I have never gotten anywhere else. I now will only buy organic hair and skin care. With everything that this salon has going on I only wish that they would have spa services.

Joe has been cutting my hair for years. I have to admit, I've strayed at times and gone to other salons in a pinch but I've always ended up going back to Joe because he's the best. My last haircut at Mode however, was not with Joe. I needed something quick and he was totally booked. He suggested that I make an appointment with Philana as she had an opening. Joe explained that he puts every stylist he hires through an extensive training so he can pass his years of experience on to them. That was enough for me. I have had my hair colored for the past 10 years and have always felt that it was not right... until I went and saw Joe at mode. As the owner of the salon I am sure that he takes alot into account when doing hair and it shows. The color was ammonia free and had a pleasant smell but what it did for my hair was incredible to say the least. The color was PERFECT and the shine and luster that it now has amazes me. The product recommendation was by far the best that I recieved. My hats off you Joe, mode, and the entire staff now that l love to show off my color!!!!

I have to say that the BEST salon I have ever had the pleasure to be in is Mode. Not only are the Hair Artists the best I have ever came in contact with, but the atmosphere is relaxing, rejuvenating, and most of all REAL. Who likes to be in a salon where the stylists act like they don't know you? At Mode this is unheard of! Not only does your Hair Artist give you what you want and more, but you feel like you are at a home away from home at Mode. I have always had the greatest experience at Mode and would suggest it to anyone who is serious about their mind, body, soul, and of course hair!

Kelly fixed my hair color that other colorist mixmatched while trying to match my highlights and base. I love the products the salon uses and would definatly go back. Kelly took his time to hear what I wanted and used his expertise to give me the look I asked for. Thumbs up!

I have been searching for the perfect red for many years and it took Melissa a picture and a few minutes to get it just right a la Julianne Moore. She is the best and I will never stray from Mode - the wine and hand massage are a fabulous touch to escape the day.

It goes without saying that if you have found a hairstylest that you can trust with your hair you have found gold. Joe Carling, the owner of Mode has done my hair on several occasions and I have never had it better than when my hairstyles are designed by Joe. Our agreement is that he has a total creative control over my hair and he is the only hair stylest that I have ever been able to that with and know that my hair will be beyond fabulous!
Mode has a calm and sanctuary like feeling and if you have ever talked with Joe you will understand that he is a huge part of what creates that sanctuary. Mode is by far the very best in Seattle hair saolons. Don't miss it!

Don't even bother with the rest, Mode is the place to get your hair done! They do an incredible job with cuts and color - anything from highlights to all over color. I trust them and so do all my friends. We drive from downtown and the Eastside to have Joe and the crew consult on our hair styling. Everyone is so nice, the parking is easy and the results are incredible. I have dark brown hair and people stop me on the street asking me where I get my hair done everyday because the color is so rich. If you try it, you will never attempt another place.

I have had my haircut and colored many times at many different salons, but not anymore. When you go to Mode, you get far more than just a haircut. It's a terrific atmosphere with stylists truly interested in giving you a look that is right for you. Joe Carling is masterful. I have referred over a dozen people (men and women) to Joe over the past several years and everyone says the same thing, "This is by far the best cut I have ever had." At Mode, they take the time to listen to your desired look while giving you truthful advice about what styles best compliment your features. Try it once and you won't go anywhere else.
