Ratings_icons Glenacres Inn is Cool

Janet N.

Glenacres Inn is cool - set back from the road on what looks to be
the highest hill in Westport. Our room looked out to the harbor -
loved it - slept great!

Ratings_icons Fantastic Place!

My husband and I were stayed here in both February and March. In February we were celebrating a family members monumental birthday with lots of family. A jazz band came to help celebrate the occasion, and played in the newly remodeled cafe. It was a night to remember, live music, good warm fire in the wood stove, cozy atmosphere. We brought our own food and the owners were nice enough to let us eat in the cafe. (It's still under some construction). A fantastic attitude of gracious hospitality is excuded from the new owners. They know that their place has some issues, but they are working on getting them resolved. They bend over backwards to help make your stay comfy as possible! In March, we went back with friends, and coincidently the jazz band was there again! What a treat to once again sit in the cafe and listen to the band up close and personal! A good time was had by all! Westport is an eclectic place to explore, with fabulous wild beaches to beach comb. A place of peace and relaxation.

I don't know what the previous poster is writing about - Glenacres Inn doesn't have shared bathrooms - each room has its own. The new owners (yes it changed hands again) had just finished refinishing all the wood floors in the house to their original glory, removed a remodel from the 40's and opened up half the house to the 12 foot ceilings, great windows and a new wood stove. They want this to be a cafe at some point soon, but for now it could be used for meetings or whatever. Just stayed there over New Years and we are excited to go back soon. Lots of plans for the upcoming months including mystery weekends and kayak rentals. Cool place, cool people. Not a B and B now as it will have the cafe instead.

Ratings_icons Stay where the Kennedys Stayed

Eileen K. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 8,744

This bed and breakfast has changed ownership in the last 5 five years and has undergone a property makeover. Some people didn't even know about Glenacres until the trees were thinned on the property between the inn and the road. It is practically next door to the Red Apple Market but still was elusive to most until now.
I stayed there once (under the old management) and at the time we got the whole place to ourselves. It is an elegant big house and holds a lot of history. There are cottages on the property and some rooms that are more private with no shared rooms. We stayed in the main house during the rainy winter season and got to travel around the kitchen and living spaces at our leisure. We stayed in a room that we were told one of the Kennedys stayed in (I think Robert). I guess they came in the 60's.
I hope that the newest owners do some landscaping on the grounds now that most the trees have been removed.
Their website is:

PROS: New owner's making good improvements.
CONS: Have to share bathrooms and other area in house w/other guests.
