Message from Lynn's Bistro

Located in beautiful downtown Kirkland, just steps away from the water. Lynn's Bistro Restaurant and Catering offers upscale dining in a neighborhood bistro setting. Under the creative direction of executive chef Linh Tran, Lynn's Bistro has earned its place on the top-10 list of the Eastside's most romantic eateries! The menu features a unique and delicious blend of French and American cuisine, where even classic dishes are prepared with an inspired twist. This fashionable and romantic bistro offers mouth-watering selections such as: escargot, smoked salmon and our crowd pleasing french onion soup. Each dish is elegantly presented to further enhance the dining experience. The decor of the Bistro is an eclectic fusion of old-world European chic and contemporary attitude.

The Scene
White linens, pale-green walls, jazz and a fountain's soothing sounds create a peaceful oasis that's perfect for dates or quiet dinners with friends. Art deco prints on the walls and whimsically mismatched place settings keep the place from feeling too upscale. Servers are attentive and slightly formal. Chef My Linh Tran maintains high visibility, frequently circling the diners.

The Food
Simple bistro fare--lamb, filet mignon, seafood and pasta--is elevated in Tran's expert hands, often infused with Asian accents. Worthy starters include the house salad, which features carrots, honeyed walnuts and pomegranate tossed in Asian pesto vinaigrette. Or try the meaty Dungeness crab cakes, served in a pool of lobster butter sauce with refreshing papaya and corn salsa. Entrees--such as a tender rack of lamb or delicious steamed sea bass with cream sauce--are also quite good.

Key Points

  • $29 Fixed Price Menu
  • Catering Available
  • Available for Private Parties

The Inside Scoop

  1. Save Money - Come for the $29 price-fixed menu--served daily 5pm-6pm.
  2. When to Go - Sunday Brunch offers baskets of freshly baked scones and croissants, but be sure to leave room for the wonderful crab and Gruyere omelette.

Affordable French inspired cuisine in the heart of Downtown Kirkland

by fdawn1

It's such a simple and cozy place at Lynn's Bistro. I have always had such a great experience with the food and service ever since it opened.

The best thing I remember there was the arrival of hot bread paired with silky smooth butter before our meal even started. It was love at first sight. Whenever my family and I visit Lynn's, we always ALWAYS order the fois gras; there is something about the texture and bite that keeps us coming back for more. Not to mention the wine reduction from the duck liver that one can be dipped with bread! I've tried fois gras in many places - in some of the top restaurants in Paris and Las Vegas, the fois gras at Lynn's is just simplistic and good. The lamb chops and filet mignon are great, along with the delicate potato gratin that comes with most of the dishes. Lynn, owner and chef - is always in the back giving love to the food she cooks. What an inspiration. We had dinner with friends and family one night. Lynn decided to make us a chocolate mousse cake as a surprise. It was fantastic and we didn't want to leave any bit of it when we left! I truly recommend this place to anyone who is craving for reasonably priced French cuisine in a comfortable atmosphere.

Pros: Reasonably priced food, great sevice

Cons: Parking

Great Food, Wonderful Service

by HalehE

I live in Kirkland and I was looking for a new and interesting place to take my mom for her 49th Birthday. I wasn't so sure what to expect from the place because there were many different reviews on this Bistro, but as soon as we walked in I could tell that we were going to love the place. The service was great all night and the food was truly amazing and yes in worth every penny (seriously I?m not exaggerating). The whole experience was mind blowing but one thing that touch all of us the most was that Lynn but our desert order on the house since it was mom mom?s birthday. That gesture was so human and so generous; we were all moved. (I have to say not because we didn?t pay for it, but to see that true service and understanding still exist.) Now, we are counting down for the next event to go there and treat ourselves to another wonderful evening once again.

Pros: Great food, Great service

Cons: Parking

Great Food and Service

by arthurtao

The service was attentive and the food quality great. The pate went very well with the bread and salad where the dressing and taste blends superbly. Glad that I tried the pate. The lamb was done exactly as specified, and had just the right taste. The potatoes and vegetables were also cooked to the right degree and all the tastes combine to make a great dish. I wish I had room for dessert, but I was simply too full. I would definitely go back and again, and this time try their dessert.

Pros: Food, Service.

Cons: None

Non existant service

by bellaegan

When we got there, we walked in at 5:00 expecting to be seated right away. All of the tables were empty, and we had reservations. The woman at the counter didn't say hello, or "be right with you" or anything. When we said "Excuse me," she wouldn't even look at us. The busboy didn't greet us either. Neither did the chef. After ten minutes of standing there being ingored by three people., we walked out. I would never eat at a place where customers are treated like trash. If they apply the same attention to detail as they do to their customer service, the place should be shut down within the year.
NOT RECOMMENDED.

Pros: wouldn't know, didn't get seated.

Cons: No service

Best food on the eastside

by foodforbelly

Whether your into seafood, red meat, white meat, or are a vegetarian there is something for everyone. I would recommend the French Onion Soup and the Crab Cakes; though the Duck and the Filet Mignon are a special treat. The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing with light green walls adorned with french posters. They don't serve cocktails, though they have a wine list that complements the menu beautifully. Since it was a special occasion I brought my own wine and the corking charge was nominal. The service staff was friendly and sharp. And don't forget dessert she has crepes which are fantastic, so simple and delicious. If your on the eastside or live there take some time to find this little kirkland jewel it is definetely a culinary treat.

Pros: Food, Service Staff

Cons: Parking

Kirkland Gem

by huskyduck

Huge portions of gourmet haute fare in Kirkland. Chef Tran cooks up great versions of duck, filet mignon, lamb, salmon, pasta and chicken. Perhaps the star of the entire menu are the crabcakes, full of crab and little else. Service is polite, informed and swift. Decor is tastefully done, this is an ideal setting for a nice romantic dinner for two or a business meal with a group.

Wine list is excellent. Desserts are made on premises and are outstanding. Simply put, Lynn's is a stellar eastside bistro.

Decent but very slow service

by shetharbozenai

We were promptly seated because we had a reservation, but it tool forever for food to come. The waiters were nice though. I had a rack of lamb, and my husband had a duck breast. I didn't really like mine (the sauce overpowered the lamb flavor), but his dish was great. I was kinda disappointed with the side. Every entree has the exact same side dish - sauteed spring vegetables and scalloped potatoes. They were good, but I thought it lacked creativity.

Pros: Not too casual or, not too formal

Cons: Slow service

Still Cookin'

by jeffjensen

We ate at Lynn's Bistro again. For us it is a bit of a drive. It had been at least a year. The meal was FANTASTIC! Every course was delicious. Lynn's sauces amaze me. You can tell Chef Lynn has been at it for some time. The wine list was larger, and it made me feel like a kid in a candy store. Our waitress was very pleasant. She made us feel right at home. I guess you can tell we really enjoyed ourselves. We dont review places we eat. This is the exception....try this place folks.....it's really worth it.

Pros: food, wine, service

Cons: parking

Overrated

by jcc52

I was interested in this place after it received glowing praise from the Seattle Times. Last wknd we were the youngest people (we're thirtysomethings) there. My only guess the old folks there can't take flavor. Tho there was nothing wrong about the food it doesn't warrant the pricing. The waiter was not knowledgable about the dishes or the wine.

Pros: atmosphere

Cons: pricey, boring

I had my birthday dinner at Lynn's Bistro on Friday night, and it was such a wonderful experience. The food was very good (as usual) and our waitress was competent and unobtrusive. The owner is so attentive to her guests, you almost feel like you're eating in her home. We loved the crab ravioli and the chocolate mousse cake.

I have driven past this restaurant several times on my way to the kirkland waterfront. I was finally able to stop in with a close friend and was delightfuly surprised. The food was by far the best in town. It was a pleasurable dining experience, a nice romantic dinner for two. I would have to say this little restaurants is kirkland's best kept secret.

Top Notch!

by ahuff

Took my husband's grandmother for a Mom's day dinner -- went to Lynn's based on recommendations from this site. Had an immensely enjoyable evening -- not a single complaint. We were promptly seated, great wine selection, attentive service (without being obtrusive), very gracious owner/chef, outstanding food, and a decent value. Haven't made it back yet, but certainly plan to!

Pros: Outstanding food, original menu

Cons: Reservations a Must

My wife and I live in downtown Kirkland, and have visited Lynn's Bistro a number of times. We have have excellent food each time. I would highly recommend the crab cakes! Lynn provides great food, in a quiet setting, at great prices. I would rate it as one of the best, if not the best, restuarant on the east side.

The atmosphere is intimate and romantic. The staff makes you feel very welcomed. The food was so delightful and reasonably priced. I very much enjoyed the wines they have to offer. Just alittle "whine"!

by jetlagged2

We have been regulars of Lynn's Bistro since it has opened and enjoy the food and atmosphere tremendously! The dishes she prepares are fantastic and unique. However, the one complaint that we do have is how little wine we get by the glass. The wine list is extensive and the offerings by the glass are quite varied both by variety and by price. A 6oz glass of wine is standard and is expected for the price now a days. ($7-$11) Of late, the offerings seem to be down to 4 to 5oz per serving and not worth the money. I'd rather skip the wine and spend it on one of Lynn's fabulous deserts!!!
