Don't pay attention to a disgruntled employee ever. And the one post here complaining about returns didn't tell the whole story.
I have been buying or trading with Brandon and Kevin for some time. I have never had a problem with them. They are always fair and have treated me well. In fact they have gone beyond good customer service. I don't begrudge them for making money from our trades. I expect them too. Brandon is a very good tech and knows his stuff. He is helpful and even when I call with questions he is pleasant and does his best to help me. I feel like my money is well spent there. There is always a good selection and they know their inventory.
All in all I think Boogieman is the place to go first when looking for a guitar or any music needs.
So don't pay attention to the negative posts. Go find out for your self. You wont be disappointed.

Staffs is knowledgeable of products and usually make good recommendations. However, attempting to return defective items is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. The speaker I purchased worked for less than 2 hours before a defective part killed it.

The store owner Kevin was less then helpful, he told me that I??d have to make all of the contacts with the product reps and only after some pestering did he even bother to contact the reps. At no point did he offer to refund or replace the item, or assist with the RMA (which most businesses will do as a part of their customer service). This entire ordeal played out over 3+ months.

Kevin seems like he is ok to work with while you are selecting an item, but after the initial sale, he is less then helpful. My advice, browse there and get good input from the staff, then buy elsewhere.

My son and I visited yesterday arriving right at closing time. The owner stayed open an extra hour for us to check out his extensive collection even though it was the evening of his birthday dinner. Great place, great people and we will be back.

Best store we've visited and we live in the Portland area.

These guys are GREAT! Kevin really knows his guitars and stocks great stuff, Brandon is an excellent repair tech. They are friendly, knowledgable, and professional. Everything you need is in-stock -- instruments, strings, capos, picks, sound-gear. I'm a fulltime traveling musician, and I will often drive hours out of my way to shop here and get my maintenance work done. It's great to have an EXCELLENT small-town guitar store...a refreshing alternative to the "Big Box" music stores.

I'm from Portland, OR, but make a couple of trips per year that take me through Yakima and I never fail to detour a few miles to Ellensburg so I can stop at Boogie Man. They have an amazing selection of guitars and Kevin is a great guy, friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable. I've read some of the other reviews which suggest less than stellar customer service. Frankly, I find these complaints a little bit suspect. You could never meet a more honest and genuine store owner than Kevin. Some people are just never satisfied, I guess. I give Boogie Man Music a very high rating.

Needed nylon guitar strings and stopped in 10 minutes before closing on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 16th. I asked (Mat I think) for strings for a classical guitar. He asked if I wanted tie on strings or ball end strings. Since I was restringing a guitar for my wife, as we had signed up for guitar lessons in our home town, (which has no music store) I wasn't sure which I would need. He recommended the ball ends and I said they would be fine. Not sure as to how much they would be, I pulled a $50 bill out of my wallet. He rang them up and it came to $4.40. I said, "Oh, I have a $10" and gave that to him so it would be simpler change. He went to the cash register and after a short time told me he couldn't make change for the $10, that he would have to give me five (5) one dollar bills. I looked in my wallet and had five (5) ones and said I would give him those then. He gave me back my $10 and the $.60 cents in change from the five (5) ones I gave him since the total was as I said, $4.40. There had been so many bills going back and forth that he failed to give me back my original $50 bill and I failed to catch it. I also was never given a sales receipt which is a questionable practice by sales clerks who are scammers. I figured this out an hour later or so when I went to pay for dinner and my wallet was $50 short. I called the store the following Tuesday as they are closed on Monday and asked for the owner. Kevin came on the line and I explained my circumstance. He told me he would call Mat and ask about it and call me back letting me know his store was very honest. I didn't hear back from him and finally called the next day near closing time. I asked for the owner and was patched through to Kevin. He told me he hadn't talked to Mat yet and I could hear him chatting with someone else in the backround about having a conversation with Mat. He said Mat couldn't and didn't remember any such transaction and that he (Kevin) totally trusted his staff. I can respect that, however I bought a $54.40 set of nylon strings. I'm not passing blame as I can take 50% of the blame for not being more aware. Hopefully it doesn't happen again to some unsuspecting fledgling guitar player.

i only get thru Ellensburg a couple times a year from Spokane, but i alway end up buying something. It's a pity that larger cities like on the west side and in Spokane cant put together a used store like this. Private joints like this deserve your business. The selection is great. Prices more than fair, and i wish i knew where he gets his vintage stuff so i could beat him to it!! LOL. Definately worth a drive and a stop.

Service and selection is very good. I own a music store in the Seattle area and am very willing to recommend Boogieman for anyone shopping east of the mountains. If anyone anywhere wants a Ukulele, I always recommend Boogieman even if they are from my neck of the woods. For the critics, a good store won't get on your back unless you are actually doing something wrong. I'm sure if the shopper below was really being careful with the instrument, then Boogieman would not have said a word. If the shopper wants to be treated with respect, he needs to earn it. We see how customers really treat instruments in store's every day. We are only trying to keep the merchandise in new condition so that shopper's who actually want to purchase a new instrument can do so with confidence and know that we take care of the merchandise in our stores. If you want to buy instruments that have been abused and play them and treat them however you want, then head to your local GC and have a blast.

Nobody at Boogie Man Music yells at customers. With a selection of over 600 guitars they have great selection of new used and vintage guitars, amps, effects, and P.A. gear. The turnover on used guitars can be very fast. Great used guitars at screemin deal prices don't last long. Always matching on line prices and beating them most of the time. No need to bargain them down. I think that guy Sean O must have been on drugs or something, LOL.

Customer service was piss poor. Tried out a Jackson they had and while putting it back on the stand an employee freaked out, yelled at me, telling me to be careful. I hadn't even bumped the guitar next to it, but I guess wearing a Sunn O))) shirt didn't endear me to him. None the less my bandmate that was with me was none to pleased, and bought his guitar at Taylor music, who were not jerks. They never have good used stuff, mostly run of the mill cabs and amps, pedal selection is boring, typical stuff. They do have a good guitar selection though, but that's if they let you go anywhere near them.

My sister got a guitar from them for a present, she adores her honer, My boyfriend and his grandpa got guitars from their for great prices. I've played all the guitars of the people I know that have bought from there, I'm going to head down there next time they're open and get me a steel stringed guitar. No problems what so ever. I see no need to return. You shouldn't be making a purchase of something thats $2000 if you're not sure you definatlly want it.

I always wanted a Martin guitar, but they were too expensive. I found the Martin that fit me at a very reasonable price. There was no pressure and no "hovering around my shoulder" while I made sure the guitar was right. I will be back!D.F. Dunn/Yakima

wahhh wahhhh the other reviewer couldn't get his return waaahhhhh
I have bought many thing at Boogie Man Music. Excellent customer service. His prices many times beat out Guitar Center. He has a most excellent selection, he is a great guitarist himself, and is knowledgeable on his products. I travel from Poulsbo to Ellensberg to buy from him!

Jim

for the other dude - waaaaahhhhhh
you ought to suck it up, quit the school your
parents are probably paying for and move out of
state, head down to Pennsylvania - they'll take
real good care of you!

Apparently this store does not do returns... I bought something there and tried to return it, and was told "we're in the business of selling. we're not a big music store." I understand they're a small town music store, but what about that makes customer service unimportant? Not to mention, music stores that are selling things that cost over $2,000 should have some kind of return policy. I got my return eventually, and was told to "never make a return again" there. Fine by me, because I'm done shopping at Boogie Man Music.
