OUr dog Bella loves this place! We can't figure out why she starts wagging her tail when she comes through the door since most of the time she is going there for vaccines. They love her and treat her so well. Dr. MItchell has been a good friend to us through many pets over the years and we are so glad he is still in business in the same location that is within walking distance of our home. The costs for vet care are reasonable and again, the service is great!

Have been taking our animals here for years, and never had a problem was just reading the reviews and noticed something very odd. ALL 4 BAD reviews all have the SAME date on 01/11/2011!!! Little fishy that the other reviews are spread out over months and years, and the only 1 star bad reviews just happened to get on this site and give a bad review on the same day?! I dont think so. If you had a bad experience giving your review is one thing but making up names and writing 4 bad reviews to lower a star score is not honest or fare.
My pet always has been calm when O pick her up, which is so important to me, I have taken her other places and she looks terrified when I get her, and it worries me on how she has been treated, This is a great local business.

I read some reviews and called around before taking my puppy to the vet, and I was unsure bout this place to start. I went in to check it out and loved the service and they treated me and the puppy great. They have great prices too. Overall a good experience.

We have taken our pets (one cat, two dogs) to WOPH for many years and have had nothing but good experiences with the doctor and the staff. I highly recommend WOPH.

I haven't been to this vet for three years now. The reason why I left was that the staff are very unprofessional, including the vet I saw. I'm a first time cat owner and both my cats hate going to the vet no matter how much I try to make them comfortable. So I whisper to them and hum songs quietly to them to calm them down because they like it. The front desk woman I could always tell didn't like me but the other staff seemed nice. My cat was pooping blood so I took him to the vet. The vet saw my cat. I told him everything I knew surrounding my cats habits and the situation since that was exactly what my human doctor requires me to do so she can best assess the situation. I asked a lot of questions to make certain I gave my cat the antibiotics correctly since I know that if you mess up with antibiotics that it is bad for the cats health. My personal doctor encourages me to ask questions and to provide as much information as possible, this vet did not do that. He didn't encourage me to do so he seemed to only care about the basics, like was my cats blood dry or fresh. He told me that in these cases it most always is a food allergy. The vet was right, most of the time it is a food allergy. For my cat it wasn't a food allergy. As I told the vet I never feed my cat rice which most of the time is what cats are allergic to.

Around when I thought we might be done the vet suddenly left the room without saying anything. He didn't dismiss me like my human doctor does. My doctor she makes certain to always tell me that we are done and that I can leave when I'm ready. This vet just left the room. So I waited a moment thinking he might have went to get something. Then coming from the next room I could hear the vet and his staff making fun of me quite loudly. I started crying, calmed myself down and picked up my cat carrier and left. I don't usually care what others think but it hurt to hear something so unprofessional coming from someone I expect to be. I can understand since at the coffee shop where I worked we would joke about some of our customers but we always made certain that they left first. I just don't think that I can trust them to respect my pets if they don't respect me.

We've had our pets treated at West Olympia Pet Hospital for twenty plus years. Dr. Mitchell is kind, soft spoken and takes excellent care of our dogs and cats. We recently had the misfortune of having a dog with Lymphoma. Dr. Mitchell diagnosed our dog correctly and quickly and gave us a referral to Dr. Comer in Tacoma. Whenever we have had either routine checkups or more serious problems, Dr. Mitchel and his staff have given excellent service.

This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. I am a first time cat owner and the office treated me like I was being a pest. They are very unorganized, do not greet you when you walk in the door, and don't really tell you what future plans are. The doctor seemed nice enough, but apparently the first time I went in there a different doctor was working and no one bothered to tell me that was not the regular doctor. So, when I came back in, I was surprised to find a different doctor in there. My file was lost and the staff kept asking me if my cat was a new patient when I had taken my cat there before. The whole experience disheartened me about animal care in the area. Since then, I have found a new vet office who really cares and communicates with me.

They treat our four cats and our dog, and all have received excellent care. They genuinely care about the pets they see, and when I had to put down my cat of 17+ years, they were extremely kind and understanding - giving me time alone to grieve with her. I highly recommend them!

Most of the staff were unprofessional, spacey, and didn't know what was going on. The communication there is very poor; the only person who seems to know what's going on is the doctor and he couldn't explain his ideas very well. I left my cat there for almost 24 hours and nothing was written down in her file about what they'd' done and what they thought was wrong with my cat. They also said they would call me on 2 different occasions to give me updates and I never got a call. I finally came to pick her up after almost 24 hours because I didn't want to traumatize my cat by leaving her there alone for so long. This was our first visit and we aren't going back.

I have taken all my pets to the West Olympia Pet Hospital, the staff is very friendly and always quick to help. I have never seen them treat anybody with anything other then complete kindness. If you want to make sure that your pets are properly cared for while in the hands of a vet, make sure you visit them. Keep up the good work.

Hi All,

We bring our animals to Dr. Mitchell and have always been delighted with his care. He has a deep love for animals and has always listened attentively and treated us with respect. On one occasion Dr. Mitchell chose to bypass an obvious diagnosis. Further testing revealed a rare blood disorder which would have quickly killed our dog if gone undetected. Years later, when the sad day came that we had to euthanize our dog, Dr. Mitchell himself wiped away a tear. The man drives a beat up old car and yet keeps his prices low. In my opinion you just can't do any better than West Olympia Pet Hospital.

Our welsh corgie was a patient at the West Olympia Pet Hospital for 7.5 years. The staff took such good care of him and Dr. Mitchell was not the ordinary veterinarian - he was well read and was always attentive to any questions or concerns we had about Chester. Dr. Mitchelle was also very good with recommendations when we moved to Boston. We really miss him and the staff and wish they could have moved to Boston with us!

I have been taking pets to Dr. Mitchell for over 20 years. He has always been straightforward, compassionate, and fair. I moved 18 miles away from Olympia almost 5 years ago and considered taking my pet to someone closer to my home but couldn't justify the change due to the quality of care my critters have always received at WOPH.

I don't think you could do better. Thanks Dr. Jeff and staff!

I have nothing but good things to say about the staff and quality of care of this buisness. We had a cat that came down sick and brought him to this hospital for treatment. I highly recommend them.
