Where are the standards with Car Toys? The staff has no idea how things work and basically left it up to me to tell them what they needed to do. Very unsatisfied with there level of knowledge.

I was given a remote start for my car as a gift at Christmas. When I dropped off my car for installation, they told me it would take from 3 to 4 hours, and they would call when it was ready to be picked up. It's now been 6 hours and when I called to check, they told me it would be at least another 1/2 hour. By itself, that is really not a big deal, but the lack of concern over the delay or any hint of customer service skills is really frustrating. I won't return to this location.

In August I purchased a cell phone and monthly plan through Car Toys- It was one of those deals that came with a rebate.

The purchase went fine, and I repeatedly asked for clarification regarding the rebate process. I was told that it was taken care of, and I should receive a check within three months. I will give the person who worked with me the benefit of the doubt and say that there was a communication issue here.

What has made me decide to never go back is the utter lack of any customer service when I called to get the issue taken care of. I was told twice I would be called back, that didn't happen. When I called back a third time I was told that there was nothing they could or would do to compensate for this error.

So therefore, the bells and whistles I plan on purchasing (because I really do love my phone) will be purchased- ELSEWHERE.

I went in on a Saturday to have an aftermarket Ipod adapter installed in my 2006 Lexus GS300. I'll admit that I did not purchase the product from CarToys, but only went to this location for installation because the salesperson indicated that his technicians had installed several of the Soundlinq products. It was promptly installed on Saturday but didn't work according to the manufacturers' specifications (i.e. my Ipod was supposed to be able to be controlled through my car's audio system, including the steering wheel controls). Once I discovered that the playlist and song text was not displaying at all, I took the product back in on Sunday. They checked the installation and indicated that they had done everything right and that the product just probably didn't work with my car in that fashion. My car is a 2006 and the product clearly indicated it would work in a 2006 to display text of playlists and songs. The salesperson informed me that he checked the inside door of my car and that since it was actually manufactured in 2005, the product wouldn't work...this was laughable. I said okay and that we should check with the manufacturer, VAIS, on Monday when they were open. He assured me that they would check it out, but that in all likelihood it was only going to be plug and play and that since he checked out the manual and was convinced my car was actually a 2005 that it would not work (even though his techs were very familiar with this product). I found his response unconvincing and called VAIS first thing Monday morning. Their technical support laughed when I told them my experience and just said, "take you car back and tell them to call me, it will work with your car as is indicated in our manual." So, Monday I'm back at CarToys (my third day in a row) and frankly I'm as tired of seeing them as they are me, but I knew the product would work due to my research and tenacity (calling VAIS for myself). Lo' and behold, once they figured out that they actually had to follow the manual for installation, the product worked exactly as it was designed.

In addition, upon picking up my car, one salesperson asked the tech if the sheet and keys to my car were ready and in an extremely unprofessional manner right in front of me, the tech responded, "what does it look like." I went out to my car to discover that it was dirty from the tech (I could see small scratches in my custom wood, there was dust everywhere and he left his tools on my leather seats, infuriating). By the way, I priced the same install at Best Buy and they were $69.99. When I first inquired about installation at CarToys the salesperson indicated it would be $100, but when it was all done, voila! it was going to be $150 due to "extra labor" even though it was done in the same amount of time. There is a word for this....extortion. I only chose CarToys because they could fit me in sooner than Best Buy could, but if hindsight were 20/20, Best Buy it would be. My advice is to get an accurate quote prior to installation. I am going to have a similar product installed in my wife's Pathfinder, but guess where I am NOT going...

I've been in Car Toys quite a few times for different things and the customer service is always a bit overwhelming and in your face. It's hard to look for different things without someone trying to sway your thoughts or sell you something.

I went to car toys to get a new stero installed and my ipod wired in. They did an excellent job and my car was ready in a timely manner. Every time I go to Car Toys, their employees are always cheerful, knowledgeable, and not too pushy!

Pros: Tried to help, but

Cons: Very poor product knowledge and raised quoted installation price after install
