Ratings_icons SCAMMERS

I am so pissed off because Fasttan in burien is now closed and they told us who had already had packages to go to emerald city tan in west seattle and when I went there emerald city said it would take a week for it to come through on there system. I think that Fastan is scamming there customers.

Ratings_icons Shocked...!!!

Brandi P.

Fas Tan in Burien is now closed...! Not even a week ago I was sold a $45.00 package for a month of unlimited tanning. I only got to use it twice. I went to go tan this evening and the lights were off, the door was locked and there was a letter telling me that the Burien location has closed but that they valued me as a customer. If they valued their customers so much why did they sell packages that they knew were not going to be honored. They told me nothing the night before, I was in total shock.

Ratings_icons FasTan closure - customers shocked!!!!

Elena S.

Two FasTan tanning locations are closed suddenly without any advance notice to customers!

Many customers are shocked. Multiple specially priced packages were sold prior to salons closure. Customers who tanned at FasTan salons the night before salons were closed had never been notified about any upcoming change.

Lack of responsibility, customer service, respect for long term and short term customers, financial responsibility to customers who no longer can use Renton and Fairwood tanning locations!

It would be considered a community service for your news company to look at two recent tanning salon closures, as over 100 regular and low cost tanning packages have been sold for tans that will never will be used.

Ratings_icons Will never go to FasTan again!!

Natalie J.

I recently visited the Renton location and had a very bad experience. At first when I walked in, there was nobody up front. After waiting a few minutes, a girl walked in from outside where she was smoking a cigarette with her boyfriend!! My first impression was that she was unprofessional. She apologized and then told me the employees at FasTan are not allowed breaks which I personally thought wasn't right. The girl was not nice and was very pushy on sales. I bought a package of 1 month unlimited for the coupon price of $19.99, which I thought was a good deal. I however did not think theyre monthly specials were good deals at all. The lotions were also very overpriced. When I went in the room to tan, I did not like to see that the beds were old and the bulbs were about 2 inches apart from eachother because that will cause lines. When my bed started, the top of the bed would not stay up and was basically touching my nose, making me feel trapped and uncomfortable. I then noticed that there were 3 bulbs out. I also could not figure out how to turn the fan on. ( i later found out it had to be plugged in, which I wish the girl up front wouldve told me) After I left the tanning room, the girl was outside smoking again and didnt say goodbye or thank you, she just looked at me with no smile which made me feel very unwelcome. I am not going back to finish my unlimited month and they will not give me a refund. I now tan at Desert Sun and i love it there.

Ratings_icons fastan has made me tanorexic!

james m.

i frequent the renton location, and have never had a problem. i've never been pushed to buy, their introductory package ($19.95 unlimited for the first month) rocked my world and got me hooked, and in the two months i've been going there, i've only had to wait for a bed once. the girls are always nice and don't seem as miserable as they've been made out to be on this site! furthermore, this "tacky, foul-mouthed woman" who manages is the one who initially signed me up and has become a dear friend to me. and last i checked, smoking outside is still legal.

the place is always spotless and they remember your last name and which bed you prefer. in short: i wouldn't tan anywhere else.

That's why I left Dessert Sun cause they are really high pressure there and not to mention RUDE!! I will stay with FasTan as long as they stay with me! THANK YOU FASTAN!

Ratings_icons Don't waste your money

Jenna P.

I read the reviews before I went to this salon so I would know what I was in for. I wanted to see for myself if it was as bad as people say it is, and believe me it was.

I went to use a coupon as well that I had gotten from their website and when I told the girl at the front desk that I had a coupon, she basically ignored me and started telling me all about their specials. I told her I just wanted to use the coupon and she rudely said "fine." I was so unhappy with the way she treated me that I said forget it and left. I did report it to her manager which didn't seem to do much. I could not believe this company would have such immature and rude people working for them and not take some sort of action to resolve it! It would be a great place to tan if it weren't for the unprofessional staff and managers who don't seem to care.

Ratings_icons Be ready for an upselling extravaganza!

Sarah S.

Upselling is fine, if the person selling is respectful and mature enough to handle a 'No' every now and again. My experience: after a long sales pitch on the virtues of buying a tanning package for more than $150, I graciously but firmly stuck to my guns and asked for the 5 tan special on a standard bed, which was exactly what I went in for. The employee looked at me as if I was a moron to refuse her, and used abrasive, Junior High-ish body language toward me (she may as well have rolled her eyes - maybe it's in the training manual, based on another reviewer who experienced the same). As if me trying to give the place business is such an awful thing! I then got the lotion pitch, and also declined it, only to get more immature, sour looks. Needless to say, after using up my 5 fabulously plebian, cheap, run-o-the mill tans, I will not be giving Fastan my business again. Why pay for that kind of abuse?

Ratings_icons I GOT STUCK IN THE BED!!!!

Susan C.

I was tanning at the Renton salon where I thought it was ok. The girl was pleasant and I got a good deal on the Ultra High. The bed I used is mechanical, and when I pushed the button to raise the lid, it didn't work! I screamed for help, but no one could hear me with fans, beds and music blaring. I managed to push the mattress out and squeeze out a small opening eventually. The girl at the counter called the Manager who called me the next day. Apparently they have a "no refund" policy. Whoever heard of not returning money to someone who got stuck??? Be careful in the beds that you do not manually raise!! And be aware that no matter what happens to you in their place of business, you will not get your money back! I'm still shaking from this experience!

Ratings_icons wonderful experience

I went into the fastan in west seattle and as person who has never tanned before and was amazed by the very friendly and knowledgeable staff, they gave me a full tour of the salon and spent a lot of time with me explaining different beds and packages that would work for me. if you have never been tanning and your unsure about what to do or where to go I would recommend fastan.

Ratings_icons Fastan salons not reccommended!

Anonymous

The Fastan company boasts the best customer service. It is by far the worst I've ever experienced! There is a tacky older woman with a foul mouth who is always outside smoking or arguing with people on the phone. I have since started tanning at another salon which is much better. Some empoyees seem to forget that if they treat the customer's rudely, unhappy customers bring their business elsewhere as well as telling a friend or two about their bad experience.

Ratings_icons They're all about "Selling" you product

I walked into the Fastan in Des Moines today to purchase a tanning package and walked out in complete dissatisfaction. The young girl working there was pushy and rude. I had a coupon for one month unlimited tans for $19.99 and when I asked her if I could use it, she said yes. She then went on to tell me about their monthly specials and how I should really purchase one of their specials for $69.99. I explained to her that I just wanted to try it out and would really like to just use the coupon. She continued on, telling me (with a look of disgust) how much of a better deal the special offer was, since I got a month free of conventional tanning, 1 medium pressure bed, and 1 high pressure bed, all for $69.99. Once again I told her no thank you. She said that was fine and that I could go ahead and use the coupon. It was completely obvious that she was very unhappy with my decision to not go with the monthly special. She then told me that if I want to use the $19.99 unlimited tanning coupon, I would have to then buy one of their lotions. The coupon did not mention anything about having to purchase tanning lotion to use the offer. I left and found a much better deal at Desert Sun. I am completely happy with my tanning package purchased at Desert Sun. Unlike Fastan, the customer service was outstanding, with absolutely no pressure, and the prices are much more affordable. I would highly discourage anyone to buy tans from Fastan.

Ratings_icons FAR under par

Ruby P.

I've been to many a tanning salon, and this is just about the lowest on my list. The doors are slatted as opposed to solid, the cellings are open, there aren't any mirrors in rooms, and it's incredibly dimly lit. You're encouraged to leave the room ASAP, and if you need to brush your hair...etc,you are to use the bathroom at the end of the hall....I've felt like I should just grab my shoes and put them on in the front lobby (if you can call it that) at times. This wouldn't be a problem, except that you're so rushed, and the cost is the same or a little higher than salons that are much nicer. Now, with all of this, the woman who is there the most frequently (who implied that she's the owner or manager, though I've found out since then that she's not) has been standing outside of the salon on the sidewalk smoking 9 out of the last 12 times I've gone in, and at one point had a friend behind the counter (strange that I thought she was an employee, right?) while she was somewhere in back, and when I asked if I could get a bed, she looked at me like I should know she didn't work there, and then told me as much in a really condescending manner. It seems that the standard attire for the employees at this location is flip flops, ill fitting t-shirts and oversize jeans. Look, I don't expect anyone to dress up as if they're making an appearance at a bennefit dinner, but I would expect anyone working in a customer service position to look a bit more put together, like they care... perhaps especially important in an industry that really is about appearances. After tanning here for 3 months because it's convenient and near by, I'll be spending my money somewhere else that doesn't feel so much like they don't care about the appearance of the facility or themselves.

Ratings_icons Great tanning beds, terrible service

Lisa M. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,751

Fastan in Burien has some great tanning opportunities, including medium and high pressure beds in addition to conventional tanning beds. They are open every day of the week, varying hours. They are also very clean, making sure to clean and sanitize beds after use. Prices range from inexpensive if you find a good coupon (such as $14.99 for a month of unlimited use of conventional beds), to expensive (regular price for their high pressure beds). The only setback are the staff, the girls with vally girl attitudes behind the counter. They mis-scheduled me causing me to have to return another time (with only an apology and no attempt to make my lost time up to me), and other times just really lack in customer service skills or professionalism. If you can get past the poor customer service, it really is a good place to get a tan.

PROS: Tanning beds - wide variety of types
CONS: Can be expensive, immature staff
