The Scene
Think modern sushi house, just out of the box: polished wood tables, washed lighting and young, helpful servers in black. With plenty of seating space and a dramatic lounge area, it's an ideal spot for appetizers and cocktails before a night out in Belltown. The staff knows what's freshest, so listen to their suggestions.

The Food
Purists beware: Wasabi's sushi is not really about raw fish. This is sushi for people who might not even like sushi. Among the 22 specialty rolls, cream cheese, mayonnaise and avocado are used with abandon--and to surprisingly pleasing effect. Take the Belltown roll, filled with seafood salad, mayo and cucumber. The Las Vegas roll is filled with roast eel, crab, avocado and cream cheese. Best is the Caterpillar roll--eel and avocado topped with mouth-tickling roe. Among the Japanese entrees, the strongest is sea bass, marinated in Kasuzuke and expertly roasted to medium-rare.

Key Points

  • Sought after sushi throughout
  • See and be seen ambiance
  • Amazing appetizers

The Inside Scoop

  1. Know Before You Go - Sushi lovers will have to ask about the sashimi, since most of the prices aren't listed on the menu.
  2. Save Money - Happy hour runs 4pm-6pm nightly and 11pm-1am, Sunday through Thursday. Check out the extensive list of rolls listed for nearly half price.

Best sushi ever!!!

by Julie E. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 8,254

I love Wasabi Bistro! They have the best sushi and they have cocktails to die for. My absolute favorites are the Tempura Seattle Roll and Mango Tango. I love their Pineapple Drop Martini and Lychee Martini. And the wait staff are always so friendly!

best sushi in seattle for sure

by Gar L. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 7,794

I love to eat at wasabi bistro. Very friendly staff with a great selection of sushi. World class sushi chefs make the best sushi I've had in Seattle. The price range for this restraunt would be somewhat mid to high. A good place for a date.

Belltown's best

by Franklin C. | insider Insider | Rank: 27,957

I disagree with one of the reviewers who said this was a disgrace to the name. There is plenty of reasons why i don't believe this is suppose to be a japanese themed restaurant. This is a modernize americanized sushi restaurants that caters to caucasians. Show me another "asian theme" restaurant that has life jazz bands and other live bands. I would definately say this is one of the best sushi restaurants in seattle. It is expensive just like any other nice sushi place but again, you're paying for the atmosphere which this place provides.

trying to be japanese but totally not so

by shianxiu s. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 959

okay. the servers and bartenders may be asian, but hello. the place is supposed to be japanese-themed. therefore, i would expect to have japanese speaking servers and bartenders. nevertheless, the servers and bartenders were alright. although, quite sloooow in the service sector. the drinks are just the ordinary drinks that one can find at a dive bar. the decor is totally not japanese at all. gosh, such a disgrace to the bar name of "wasabi bistro".

by Desiree H. | insider Insider | Rank: 15,246

I love the green decedance, I know its not really sushi, but its delicous. They are the best in seattle, they also have great prices for happy hour. The people are always helpful, but not pushy. Great place to always find a seat.

Amazing Happy Hour Sushi Prices!

by Nicholas G.

Excellent sushi, espcially the happy hour menu, which is from 4-7, however, my favorite day of the week to attend happy hour is during the evening which starts from 11PM to close. Wednesday night is live jazz night! Aside from the snotty water boy who refills your glass every time you take a sip, this place is amazing!

PROS: Happy Hour prices, atmostphere, live jazz
CONS: Snotty hostess(just one teen girl) and a snotty water boy

Good eats and quick seats

by moonsshine

I like this place. The happy hour is great, and you can try a bunch of little stuff with a friend or a few friends and its pretty cheap. The sushi is very good too and the atmosphere is nice but chill. I did have guy server there one time that must have sipping the sake a little to much in the back or something though. He could not for the life of him figure out how to separate the bill for my friends and I. Other than that it is a decent price with a good variety and its pretty quick.

Pros: lots of little stuff

Cons: lots of little stuff makes for tough decisions

Good sushi

by ILikethetea

This place has great sushi and good happy hour prices. Also, good service. But if you're looking for an entree other than sushi, I would not eat here.

Pros: sushi/rolls, good location, service

Cons: entrees

great sushi, great customer service

by marcusgeovanni

I had a really great experience at The Wasabi Bistro this past weekend. I brought my family who I had not seen in quite a while. The staff was so friendly that they broke the ice. From the management to the servers , they were all perfect. They are all very professional but know what to say at the right time. Not to mention the service was great. The sushi wowed my family and I'll be back as soon as I can. I will always be thankful for that night.

Pros: customer service, sushi, ambiance

Cons: none

Phenominal as always

by Tranlovs

It's like this, I go every where in this town to eat sushi and nothing compares to the Wasabi Bistro. I keep coming back because of the consistency of everything from the food to the service. I'm there about 5 or 6 times a month and the staff treats me better there than anywhere else I go by far. This place is so unbelieveably busy and they are always friendly and attentive. I've given other places in the Bell Town area more than enough chances and the service is always disappointing. There is one place specifically that I know is considered somewhat of a rival of Wasabi Bistro, I'll just say it starts with a U, I've been there four times and the servers have always been ridiculously bad. Don't even try it. At Wasabi I recall getting OK service once but every other time has been really good. I love the rolls, gotta try the tarantula! The last time I was there was last weekend. I tried a special martini with sake that was amazing. I can't remember the name of it though. The waitress was beautiful along with the presentation of the sushi. I just think they've got it there and most people I know agree.

Pros: service, rolls,presentation

Cons: occaisonal wait

It takes more than soy sauce and wasabi.... whassup, wasabi bistro??

by TheRawTruth

Three of us went to WB for lunch today and were deeply saddened by the fact that the mighty has fallen. Here is a run-down of the experience:

1) Ordered two Wasabi Mary's (sake, vodka, Bloody Mary mix). Apparently, they was no bartender on shift, so the gal making the drinks sampled our would-be concoctions no less than three times, jerking her head back each time. To be sure the cocktail was undrinkable she enlisted the tasting prowess of another three servers (all of whom used the completely acceptable straw vacuum technique to sample.) Needless to say we had lost confidence in those drinks and ordered Vs & Ts and Gs & Ts. Our server made it known that she would not be chrging us for the drinks. (Gee thanks)

2) Ordered to sashimi plates (C's?) and a roll plate (A?). While the roll plate was quite acceptable, the sashimi was too thick (and mushy). This may seem contrary to popular opinion, but, yes, you can have too thick of a cut of sashimi. I mentioned this to the server in a nice way; she took the size of the cut as a positive statement on the value of their establishment. (Beware value-oriented sushi)

3) Next we couldn't help to overhear our dining neighbors say that something "doesn't taste right", "please take it away", "I feel sick", and "I need the check before I get sick". This continued to spoil our dining experience. (I think they were partially comped, as well)

I used to hold WB as among the finest sushi restaurants in town, now I will have to avoid it for personal and business lunches. I do want to say, however, that while the service was s-l-o-w today, the server had a great personality and was willing to help us find a solution to the problems we experienced. (I wonder if she kows of a good sushi place in town?)
