Didn't enjoy the food here too much, my husband and I agreed it reminded us of a bit like hotel food(we travel a lot), the ribs were gresy and our stomachs didn't feel great the next day.

Pros: service

Cons: too expensive

Bar is nice but service in the booths can be gruff. Please get some real olives.

I have been going to queen city grill for over 25 years... not a regular, but stop in when I'm in downtown seattle... had always enjoyed the atmosphere of a venerable old place.. was in last weekend, by myself, having a cocktail ($12 and overpriced) at the bar....a fellow walks by and rams into me as I'm sitting there...I figured he must be drunk or high....then shortly after, he rams into me again..I now tap him to get his attention and said that an 'excuse me' is the normal etiquette.. he then got loud and said that he was the owner of the place, and could have me thrown out....he then left for a few minutes and returned with two goons dressed in black and seemed to get great pleasure out of the show of force... I said that I had a tab ($12) and he looked at the bartender and told him to return my card (I'll check my statement as I've seen postings on other sites stating that they alter your check after it's signed!) I asked this man what his problem was an he said "I'm a huge a-hole!"(cleaned up for this site) I said I wasn't sure about the size, but I agreed with the second part... I then just got up and walked out...was this really the owner? he obviously had enough juice to have two bouncers come up and throw me out... if he was an owner, I can't imagine treating any customer that way...this man was completely self-absorbed and unconscious....he also obviously believes that he is more important than his customers... a fatal flaw in the hospitality/ service business that he's in!

My fiance and I recently moved to Seattle and with our pocketbooks being a little tight, we have been trying all of the happy hours around town. Queen City Grill has the best one in Belltown for sure and possibly anywhere.
We have been in twice now and have tried the shrimp, bruschetta (spelling?) , and the AMAZING kobe beef sliders. The only thing better than the quality and of the food was the price. For just $5 each these are the best quality happy hour items that i have seen. To make it even better, we saw their info on the table about facebook and twitter and saw that they offered the kobe sliders for free just for telling them we saw it. What a deal!
We still have not been in for dinner and are waiting until we get a little more settled into Seattle to splurge. We will however go back again for happy hour especially since they have the best bartenders and staff that we have seen so far in town. I am not sure exactly what is in it but the Flatliner drink is out of this world although just a little pricey. Maybe they will think of putting it on the happy hour menu (hint, hint...)
The only thing about queen city we didnt like was the parking issues. It took us awhile to find a place and it was pretty expensive. I know this is a problem everywhere down there but coming from a smaller town we have never had to deal with parking before. It would be nice if they would do parking validation for customers.

My wife and I were amazed by the quality and more the selections that were offered at Queen City Grill. My wife had the halibut and I tried the Cod. I have to say the this was the first time that I had tried Cod and it was perfect. The sauce was understated and the fish itself was obviously very fresh. My wife's fish was a similar flavor which was the only drawback. We had wanted to try a couple completely different types of fish and didnt realize that they were both similar fish flavors.
Other than that, the service and food were both perfect. For a romantic night out I would highly recommend it. The owner came over and talked to us about the place and gave a little history on the restaurant.
Next time I think we will try the salmon because the table next to us had it and it looked really good.

Being on the edge of the Belltown hot zone, this place gets packed in the evening on weekends. If you want a quiet romantic dinner, best to come during the week. But you can sure be in the middle of the flow here... after all these years it continues to be a great meeting and drinking spot with fantastic food.

The tall wooden booths take you back a long way in time ?? but the food is contemporary. With the atmosphere of a steak house it was a surprise to have outstanding fish. It is definitely a place to order cocktails with dinner.

I love the queen city grill! Nice relaxed atmosphere very attentive and helpful staff. I went here for some dinner and drinks with a buddy the other night. As we were looking at the menu and couldnt quite decide what to get, we started talking with the bartender Cheresa. She made some suggestions and then said she could have the chef whip us up something that wasnt on the menu. Well, there is a big suprise, having the chef make something that isnt on the menu??? We said ok, and shortly thereafter she was bringing out a few dishes. I dont remember exactly what all we had, but the greens that came were so delicious I was in heaven.
Ask Cheresa to make you a mojito with the different types of mint they have. They have pineapple mint, chocolate mint and another one that I cant remember. But damn good food and service!

I ate at the Queen City Grill last night and had the worst food ever. I will never go back. The food was over priced and not thought out. My daughter could have made better food. Don't go there, you will regret spending the money.

Pros: great wine list

Cons: bad food

The atmosphere is great at this place, however, the service is really bad. My meal, a fish, came half raw. When I noticed it, I tried to contact the waiter. No chance, we tried to 10 minutes to get the waiter's attention then we gave up. He finally came to get the plates and did not even bother to ask whether something was wrong as I had not eaten hardly anything. Will never return to that place.

Looking for a Belltown eatery we were reading the menu on the door when one of the owners invited us in. How could we go wrong? We didn't go wrong--what a great meal we eventually had. We were aware of the boistrous group in the bar all evening long...we were in Belltown after all!! Excellent wine suggestions by a savvy server. My husband ordered the chicken and I ordered crab cakes. The server explained that there would be a short wait as his meal would take longer to prepare than mine. Waiting to be served your meal can stretch out...our server treated us to a complimentary glass of wine (not a bad idea and definitely soothes the customers' anxieties). The food arrived and was very delicious and well worth the wait. The chicken was tender and flavorful--crabcakes in a sauce to die for. Great veggies and plated beautifully. Good job, Queen City Grill.

The food at this restaurant was average. The service was horrible. Basically we sat at our table waiting for our check for about 20 minutes while our waiter searched for a bottle of wine for someone else. The food was actually decent, very basic but overall good. It seems that they try to be something they are not = a high class restaurant. The prices are too high for the food and experience. I would not recommend this place. We ended up at a place called "Amber" afterward that seemed a lot better. The bald, old waiter was horrible.

We went to eat dinner here very late on a Saturday night around 10:30. We were glad they were still serving dinner. Atmosphere is great, kind-a loud but definitely nice, San Francisco style. Food is okay but expensive for quality. I would go back for drinks...

I've been here. The food is acceptable, but nothing great and it definately overpriced. Typical Belltown. What I would normally rate this place as "average" I'll give it a "not recommended" to hopefuly bring down the rating so more city search users are not fooled into going to this place.

I've always liked queen city, it's cozy and the bartenders are usually so friendly. My friends and I decided to go there and grab a few cocktails, maybe a little snack. The bartender said it was okay for us to sit at a table opposed to the bar because their weren't 4 bar stools. Immediately a server came and asked if we were having dinner. We said no and that the barternder said it was okay, the server then said, "well I guess it will have to be okay then". So rude, he was clearly mad about it and didn't try to hide it. Then a diff. server came to take our friends drink order and she spoke to her like she was stupid for not noticing that their was more than one chardonnay on the menu and gave her attitude instead of just suggesting or listing off the wines to her like a good server would do. To top it off my $8 bloody mary, that was by no means fancy, had a hair in it! We didn't even finish our over priced drinks and left bc we felt so unwelcome and couldn't believe that they were so rude. Did I mention that every other table besides two were open?! We even overheard the bartender apologizing to the servers for letting us sit at the table. The restaurant was empty! All the servers were just standing around! Why was it necessary for them to be so rude! Just because we weren't having a three course meal? Considering no one else was there, wouldn't our business have been better then nothing? And of course when it was tip time our server was more than lovely and chipper; as was the first server who was rude to us. It's too bad. I'll never go back there or recommend it.

The worst seafood I have had in a VERY long time.

I hate to be the odd man out here (because apparently other diners have really enjoyed their experience at the Queen City Grill), but I was literally emberrased at the service, atmosphere, and quality of food.

I was introducing a family member to Seattle for the first time, and what better place for a meal than a seemingly eleagant and well-run downtown restaurant? I couldn't have been more wrong.

It took the waiter fifteen minutes to acknowledge our presence. The French bread was stale. The razor clams had the consistency of rubber...and they were cold. The vegatables were overcooked.

Maybe we just strolled in on a bad night. Maybe...but for what they charged us for less than mediocre food, it was an experience that I won't soon forget.

QCG has been around forever and it is great. The wine list gets better and better and the wine guy, Trevor, should be at Canlis. He knows more about wine than any sommelier I have ever come across and he seems to know what you like before you do! The food is always great with good old favorites and some phenomenal specials. Best of all they are NON SMOKING during dinner hours now! The serivce is unpretentious and even though it gets crowded it is always fun.

The maître d' went on and on that loyal customers start lining up at 4 o'clock for the famous "pepper corn steak." I ordered it because it came so highly recommended. It was one of the worst steaks I've ever had. The food overall was very unimpressive. My friend ordered the burger it was dry, tough and had no flavor. This restaurant should only be recommend for the 40+ bar scene and nothing else.

It's a lovely place, noisy, but the interior is nice. The menu is a bit lacking and the waitstaff seems a little arrogant, but if you just want to stop in somewhere on a night that's typically not too busy for bars and restaurants and have dinner, it's a good place to go. The chocolate torte with raspberry sauce for dessert is to die for.

I've been to many, many bars in Seattle, and never have I found such a poorly run establishment. To begin, the prices are outrageous - $9+ for mid-range beer (tiny selection, too). The atmosphere is also poor - extremely crowded and smoky enough to give you lung cancer in one sitting. The service did not please me either - the service almost non-existent and the staff are flat out arrogant.

I was disappointed by the service and food. After reading the reviews, I had definitely expected more. The food was okay, but ended up being overpriced for what was received. The service was not as good as billed, as I had to call for the waitress a few times just to get things like a re-fill of water or a spoon for coffee. I went for a special dinner, but ended up disappointed.

The seafood here was exquisite and our server was a real kick. We came near the dinner rush though and it was really LOUD. The crashing dishes and animated, loud bar crowd were a bit distracting. I would say that it adds to the flavor of the place though and the food and service were among the best!

The preparation of the food was excellent, among the best in Seattle, but I take points off because they have a rather unadventurous menu--steaks, chilean seabass (tsk tsk), ahi, oysters, etc. It's also a bit loud and sometimes smoky, not a place for a quiet mellow converstation.

From what others had told me, I thought it was the place to eat decent but basic meat dishes. What an error! Not only do they put quite some effort on their elaborated dishes the lamb was just perfect), but also their wine list is surprisingly diverse and fairly priced. This place exceeded my expecations by far! The only cons are the dark light and the high backs impacting the view at the restaurant

Queen City Grill is one of the first restaurants I ate in after moving to Seattle form New York City. It is hard to beat the competition in NYC but Queen City did it! I have seen several chefs and the current chef is amazing!! His specials, like beets with triple cream blue - awesome, the sauteed mushrooms with shavings of parmesan leave you drooling. Kevin, the bartender extrodinaire, will keep you entertained while you wait for a booth or cozy table by the front window. The host is also the wine guru and can pick out a bottle the whole table always enjoys. He knows lots of wines off the beaten path and the extensive wine list is as familiar to him as the back of his hand! I could not recommend this Belltown staple any higher! Enjoy!!

Offering the best in steaks and seafood (the seared ahi is to die for!), along with a full bar, equipped with a wine list for a queen, the Queen City Grill is a great place to go and unwind with friends after work. And with its wonderful and accomodating service, the Queen City Grill is my top choice for a date--dress to impress.
