I've always called this place the Park Inn, or "PI". I like variety. This place is on my top 5 list in the Spokane area, and has been since I got here in the mid-90's. I haven't found a place I could compare it to--the closest would be

All right, if you are looking for something fancy, this isn't it. I've read the other comments and agree with all of them except for the one that said it is the cleanest; when measured against dive bars maybe. Having said that I wouldn't

The Park Inn is probably my favorite bar in all of Spokane and is definitely my favorite bar compared to other locations. (I cannot comment on the restaurant half of "Park Plaza" because in my 2+ years of regularly visiting this bar I have yet to even step foot in it.)

The drinks are cheap- 3.75 for a STRONG Vodka Cran, 3.50 for the best Bloody Mary you'll ever have, $7-8 for pitchers. The service is quick and friendly.

I think the best part about the PI, though, is definitely the atmosphere. You can show up dressed in your best at 1 in the morning after a night of partying, or come in your pajamas on Saturday afternoon and nobody judges you. The regulars (and there's a lot of 'em for previously stated reasons) always have a friendly conversation to share, the pop corn is always free (and occasionaly fresh), and some sports game is always on. Don't like watching sports? Ask the bartender to switch it to whatever and they'll do it for you (within reason of course. I did manage to get them to put on a Lifetime movie on a slow Sunday.)

Visit the PI, love the PI, and make sure you play dice with the bartenders to earn a couple of bucks for the juke box. See you there!

Pros: Friendly folks, cheap drinks, close to downtown

Cons: No pool table

My husband and I were looking for a bar/restaurant where we could get a great pizza and watch some of the NCAA tournament. We were so happy we decided on the Park Inn/Park Plaza! We loved the atmosphere in the bar.....kind of what we would call a "dive bar" - which we like. The pizza we ordered was delicious - tons of gooey cheese! The service was also great - everyone was quick and more than happy to help us.

Pros: inexpensive, yummy pizza

This is a great dive bar. (So I'm talking about the bar 1/2, not the other side, on which I cannot comment). It's dark and smoky, and has great service and fantastic pizza and sandwiches.
