Unique charcol grill to bring out the meat flavor.
All the meat there is fresh!
The servers are awesome!
So much variety in the side dishes!
The cold noodles are really good too.
Reminds me of LA style Korean BBQ Restaurants.
As authentic as it gets.

Pros: Everything

Cons: Nothing

Second time going there. First time food was horrible and service was non-existent. Second time we ordered an octopus stew and it was so salty and inedible that even the waitress admitted but wouldn't take it off the bill. I'm going to stop going to Korean restaurants. It's a cultural and attitude problem with doing any business with them.

Good tasting food. No service at all! We left after an hour and a half, without finishing our meal because no one would service our table. The flame on our grill went out and we couldn't finish cooking our food. Then the waiter argued with us because we didn't want to pay for the uncooked food. I would not recommend this place to anyone...

Stick to what OTKV does best which is spicy cold noodles. The banchan is merely average and they only offer about 6 different small plates which is below the norm for most Korean restaurants. Tofu stew and barbeque are average or above average. You can get better tofu stew at Hosoonyi and better barbeque across the street at Hae Nam Galbi. Their Pae Jun (Korean seafood pancake) is pretty good and can hold it's own with other places. However, if you are in the mood for a large bowl of spicy cold noodles, Old Town does this traditional Korean dish the best in the area. The decor is much improved after new ownership with new high quality flat screen TV's.

I saw the review on this restaurant on Korean newspaper and made an addition trip out there from Lake Stevens. Me & my husband went there on Sunday around lunch time. It was pretty busy but we were willing to wait for a good food. Well.... Service was bad (waiting time & had to wave my hand at them to get an attention), Panchan(side dishes) were low qualities and above all Kimchi was horriable (my mom always told me to try Kimchi first. If Kimchi doesn't taste good, more likely the food isn't good. And I really hate to say this but my mom was sooo RIGHT!!). We ordered two different Kalbi which costed us little over $55. Kalbi was pretty bad. No flavor & too fatty... Looks like they used low quality meat. I was so upset the fact the review was so wrong, food was horrible (I could make it better) and felt I just wasted my money on bad food. On the way home my husband had to stopped by a Korean Restaurant name "New Seoul" on HWY 99 to fullfill my satisfaction to have second Korean meal. Old Village might be good on other Korean food but I won't go back to even give them another chance...

My fiance and I were wanting to try a Korean restaurant out here. So we went over to Old Village.
I'm so GLAD that we did. The place was so clean and had a great ambiance. We arrive at about 5:45 on Friday evening, and thank goodness that we went at that time. About 15 mins after we got there, it go very packed! We opted for the BBQ dinner, and what a delightful experience. We ordered two beef items. It was quite enough for the two of us.And a appetizer . The waiter brought us our traditional side dishes of pickled vegetables, kimchee, tofu, and other items, and a big salad !!! It was like a buffet of side dishes. Well the waiter brings out the tray of items and starts you off, and we finish the rest. It was fun to cook at the table. The meat was perfectly marinated!!! If you want rice, you need to ask them when you place your order, or you will need to ring the bell for table service, which is a nice touch also. They are also very attentive to replenishing your side dishes, as soon as you finish them. If you're expecting to be waited on immediately, you will not find that here. Hence why you need to ring the bell! I am def. coming back here again!! Highly recommended!! Great family or date experience.

My roomate and I are Korean food junkies so when we stumbled upon the Old Village Restaurant, we were thrilled. The service was excellent (we love the waiter Bo who works there almost every night). The panchan (side dishes) flow freely and the food comes out quick, hot, and affordable. Plus their Soju (korean vodka) goes great with all the dishes. We have made going there, our Friday night ritual. I would recommend this place to newbies and expert Korean food eaters. Its a little hard to find but once you do, it's PHENOMENAL!!!

i went there yesterday. i know it has been there for while. But, they renovated recently. they have new menus, servers, tables, and cocktails. they have great food and service. Eveything i order was so delicious. Specially, the Kalbi, Korean beef short ribs, was fantastic. it came with 10 kinds of free side dishes. i think they are the number one korean restaurant in seattle. i will visit there again on next friday with my family.

.Their food is excellent, the menu is complete, the price points are perfect and the service is great. The server was knowledgeable of the menu and didn't have the attitude that they were above us. They kept our glasses of water full and were available to provide refills of the side dishes. (And if you are not familiar with Korean food, the side dishes are an important part of the meal and all you can eat.)
they just changed ownership almost 2months ago.
they got good tabls, lamps, small bar..... anyway IT WAS FANTASTICCC
I will visit there again!!!

Not many good Korean restaurants in the area, but Old Village Korean Restaurant has the best Korean BBQ among them. I wish they had a nicer, cleaner shop but I guess I can't wish everything. They have burnt wood burning BBQ grills which makes the BBQ smell and taste good. They also server other Korean dishes and their cold noodle is also good, especially after eating hot BBQ meat.

We went late and the place wasn't crowded so we got a table very quickly. It took some time before the waitress took our order, but we got two different types of Kal-bi.

Alright, here comes my ranting. They brought the meat first and it just sat there for a good 10 mins. After being ignored for awhile, the waitress came over, opened the grill and pretty much threw our meat onto the center. Horrible timing! We had no side dishes, no plates, no rice, nothing! So we tried to salvage our meat on to the side so it wouldnt be over cooked and proceeded to wait another 10 mins before we got the sides and rice and could actually eat. After waiting longer, she finally remembered the sissors to cut our other meat.

Thankfully the food was excellent and the price was decent. It was really just horrible service.

i think the service problems discussed above were pretty isolated. i've never had a problem with the Old Village folks, even when it comes to the issue of who's going to tend the meat. (some restaurants get upset if you try to do it yourself.)

not sure why they didn't bring you panchan, though never had that problem with them. and as someone else mentioned, it's pretty standard for a minimum of two orders before they'll open up the table grill. i've eaten Korean on several continents, and the only time i got away with it solo was in Malaysia -- and then perhaps only because i was having a long, pleasant conversation with the owner.

Old Village remains a great option for table BBQ in Seattle -- though i still miss the diversity of options in NYC.

In fairness, the food was excellent, but the terrible service detracted from the experience and made the meal unenjoyable. In Korean restaurants, they give you these little dishes with kim chee, pickled radish, and other tasty items before the entrees come out. Other tables that were seated after us were served these dishes (they also spoke Korean). At our Chinese speaking table, our entrees came out and we never got served the dishes. I had to ask! I think they were not going to serve them to us because they thought we didn't know we were supposed to get them. We ordered 1 serving of Korean BBQ. I love cooking the meat at the table. They told us unless we ordered 2 servings, they would cook it in the kitchen. They did not say that on the menu. I will not go back!
