We've been going to North End Pet Hospital for a long time. They have always been kind and helpful, and work with me to help my mother-in-law with her pets as well. The staff recognizes us and our pets, and always make us feel welcome.

Just recently we brought in my mastiff, who had been unable to walk for 24 hours, and Dr. Dudley saw her. He was very helpful and knowledgeable, and gave us all of the information we needed (and time) to make a very difficult decision. He didn't pressure us to go with expensive alternatives that might prolong her life, but not increase her quality of life. I've always found they had the pets' best interests at heart. I was also very touched when their newest vet made a donation in our girl's name.

We also had to bring in our cat a month after the episode (he had lost 1/2 of his body weight, was eating or deficating), and were so blessed to have good care for a reasonable price. They were able to do what was necessary and not go overboard! Our cats is on his way to better health with their help!

I recommend them to all of our friends and family, and I am so pleased to have such quality care in our neighborhood.

I've been going to North End before Dr. Dudley took over. Over the years I have lost 6 dogs and three cats. I have always gotten great and compassionent service from the Doctor's and Staff of North End Veterinary Hospital. I now have a new little guy and a great cat and they are always there even if I'm in a panic for cutting my baby nails too short. I love you guys. Thank you!

We have taken our dogs to the NE Pet Hospital for the past five years and through the annual exams, vaccinations and a couple of surgeries we have been impressed by the quality of the facilities and the professional and caring staff. Every one who works at NE PH is very knowledgeable, conscientious and helpful. We highly recommend this business to someone searching for a veterinary clinic where pets are treated with empathy and outstanding care.

I have two older cats, one with diabetes. I feel like they both get excellent care at North End Pet Hospital, but especially the one with diabetes. My cats are like members of my family and when it comes to their care I want to make sure they are treated that way. I have always felt the staff at North End Pet Hospital does their best to ensure that the animals under their care get the highest level of medical treatment as well as love and understanding. North End Pet Hospital may be a little more expensive than other vets in the area but I feel the peace of mind of knowing my pets are getting excellent care is well worth it.

We have taken our animals to the North End Vet since before Dr. Dudley took over. We have never had anything but the best of care from all the doctors' and staff. We find everyone caring and considerate and would recommend them to anyone.

Written by an ex-employee/pet owner. This is a sincere review of THE best employer I've ever worked for. Deciding to leave this company, for personal reasons, was one of the hardest choices I've ever made. I'd like to share with you why.

As a North End Pet Hospital client you and your pet will be shown compassion, respect, and close attention while the doctors and staff work with you to keep/get your pet healthy and happy.

Dr. Dudley (Practice Owner), his wife Becky Dudley (Practice Manager) and all the highly trained staff at North End Pet Hospital reach for excellence and are willing to take the necessary (sometimes costly) steps to ensure that when your pet is in their care they are being examined, diagnosed, and monitored by employees that not only like what they do, but like where they work. A lot of care is taken to hire and nurture qualified Associate Doctors (Dr. Vollmar and Dr. Brown), trained technicians, and caring support staff that are enthusiastic about their jobs and provide excellent care. In order to ensure that you and your pet are given the service you deserve, the staff are given the opportunity to continue their education, encouraged to live a balanced life, are paid fair wages, and receive an excellent benefits package. Quality vaccines, supplies, pharmaceuticals, surgical and monitoring equipment are all used to aid in helping your pet maintain a long, healthy life. At the same time the staff are all encouraged to be conscious of saving where possible. Among other things, recycled scrap paper is used for notes and lights are turned off whenever they are not in use to save money and to help the environment. A lot of care is taken to ensure that prices are kept as reasonable as possible without sacrificing the high level of integrity that North End Pet Hospital strives to uphold.

Remember, we vote for what we want with our wallets. Support small, local, ethical business owners, their staff and even their many pets.

Some things I'll never forget about my 3 year employment at North End Pet Hospital:

1.The staff meetings where ALL of the staff were asked to contribute their ideas and concerns about the business.
2.The baby showers and Christmas parties where ALL the staff attended. For Christmas and other other occasions Becky picked out personal well-thought-out gifts for each member of the staff. I will always cherish my gifts.
3.When one of our staff members was on bed rest for 6 months, due to complications with her pregnancy, she not only was assured that she could return to her job, but the entire staff would go over and help walk her dogs and bring dinner for her and her husband. ( The pictures of this adorable baby boy hang in the treatment area to remind us that with good, well practiced medicine, new and continued life is possible)
4.During multiple surgeries, spanning a year, I was offered the time to rest and get well in addition to a steady stream of get well wishes and meals delivered to my home from my coworkers. Even the Dudley's pitched in. ( How many people can say that their boss brought them a meal while they were home after surgery?)
5.The doctors helped the staff take care of their own pets and even supported the staff in rescuing needy pets, nursing them back to health and finding them a home amongst our extended family (our clients).
6.When the Dudley's choose businesses to provide services to them personally and professionally they did not look for the service based on cost but, as a display of gratitude, used the services of the clients that had supported them throughout the years. (Primo Bar and Grill, The Parkway, Leroy's Jewelers, Minuteman Printing, Ken's Flooring, Bob Larson's Plumbing, Pomadoro, Pacific NW Shop, Old House Cafe, and many others )

To me,North End Pet Hospital will always be home away from home and you and your pet will surely feel the same when you walked through the doors.

I have been taking my ??fur family? to the Northend Veterinary Hospital for the last 15+ years. I absolutely love the care that I have always received over the years. My fur family, which includes both canines and felines, are incredibility important to me!!! I can be a bit high maintenance when it comes to the care of my animals. Dr. Dudley and his clinical staff have continually met all my needs. Dr. Dudley hires competent and caring staff members that truly care for my family!!! I would never go to any other veterinary clinic!

We've been taking our pets to North End Veterinary Hospital for 20 years and I can't say enough about how wonderful and caring the vets and their staff have been. Whenever we bring our cats in we know they are getting the best care available, and the follow up phone calls and informative newsletters designed to help keep them in the best of health are very much appreciated. We recently lost a beloved 18 year old cat, and I will never forget the effort they went to in keeping his last days as comfortable as possible. I wouldn??t hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a good vet they can trust.

We have always had great experiences at this vet. Dr Brown is the best. My mother drives over from Yakima to bring her dogs to him. My older dog was afraid of going to the vet but when we started going to North End she became so comfortable. They started being excited to visit. The staff is loving. When it was time to let our one dog go Dr Brown was honest about the situation. He came to our house so it was easier for us. I highly recommend this vet.

I started taking my puppy there about 2 months ago and I have been really pleased with everything. They are a tad bit on the expensive side but they are great to work with. They love my puppy too. The vet and the workers are great with her and treat her great. The pricing isnt horrible either. The appointment fee is around $40 and then they add the vaccinations etc on top of that. It's just somewhat expensive because of all the different vaccines that puppies need. Other than that they have never charged me for something I didnt need and they try to give me free samples for things like food/treats/flea killer, etc. They have been great and I will continue to go there.

Two months ago I was told to shove pills down my cat's throat, which had done nothing but torture her. The poor creature cannot even sleep for the other difficulties this vet brushed away. It turns out her heart wasn't just "nothing" her ribs are heaving in time with the rapid beating of her poor little heart, like a bellows, and there is no comfort we can give her.
We know we have no other options now, but she's grown so weak and fragile that it would just be one more cruelty to take her on another scary and painful car ride just for "the big sleep"- and I'm certainly not going to this cretin!
I so wish I could locate the vet I'd seen in the phone book a while ago who does home visits. I too thought this was a great find, as they are convenient. I hope never to watch another animal suffer like this!

All I can say is that if you are on any kind of budget (and who isn't) and don't like to be made to feel bad when you question the need for a visit or treatment, then avoid NE Vet hospital. I don't think they value money over your pet, or I don't want to believe that, but I don't think they appreciate that money is tight and all we would like are the options, not a guilt trip.
FYI, we got our kitten from the humane society, and took her to NE vet for her "free" checkup (this is something you get when you adopt from HS). Well, free it was NOT.

I have just started taking my pets there and have nothing but good things to say. They have an amazing set of doctors who have gone over and beyond to help make sure my dog gets the care he deserves. I have never seen such compassion and individual care. The staff was very friendly, helpful and informative. The atmosphere of the building is very inviting. They met my expectations and then some. Their prices were a little high but like the other lady said..you get what you pay for!!! Their service and expertise makes up for the higher amount on the bill. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone!

All of you with complaints against this hospital, take action! File a complaint with the Washington State Department of Health, which licenses veterinary hospitals. They have a website. Just Google it.

The North End Pet Hosptial is a pretty fancy looking place with a large staff, but they subsidize it with some pretty hefty fees and questionable treatment practices.

I will just say this: when I took my cat to this vet, his only problem was a dragging tail. Otherwise he was fine _ walking, running, eating well. When I got him back two hours later, he could not use his hind legs, had no appetite and was completely lethargic. I thought he would die.
They charged me about $150, and wanted another $250 for tests that I felt were unnecessary. The vet was offended when I questioned her treatment!
I took my cat to another vet who made a different diagnosis and succesfully treated my cat, reversing the damage the North End Pet Hospital did to my pet. The second vet, by the way, was way, way, less expensive.
But most importantly, my cat is walking again. And I am definitely filing a complaint against this vet.

I had heard some bad things about this vet practice from a couple of neighbors who had bad experiences but my cats were heatlhy and so far they seemed nice and they were conveniently located close to home.
Now I'm wishing I would have listened and switch before my cat became ill.
My cat stopped eating, and was coughing and vomitting up bile. They ran the gammit of tests on him for over $500 and felt he had pneumonia. He did seem to get a little better and started eating a little again, only to get worse again. So another $500 and they are telling me still, "some kind of pathology" and they want to do more tests. Now it's been over a month and a $1,000 my cat is obviously dying, he's wasting away and I feel like I'm getting no where. Time for a new vet. He immediately looks at the x-ray that I hand deilivered from old vet to new vet (which they reminded me was their property and needed to be returned... I'm sorry didn't I pay for those? ) Any way new vet takes one look ands says, I don't see why this was so hard to interpret he obvously has a bunch of tumors in his lungs, that with his symptoms, pretty easy to diagnose lung cancer. So, that was only $60- in all fairness he proably would have atleast x-rayed him if the old vet had not, so another 80-100, for a grand total of $160 and one visit! Hmmmmmmm......What's going on? And just where was the report from the radiologist that they sent the second set of x-rays over to help them interpret? Strange that it wasn't in with his notes. So, one has to wonder, incompentent or unethical?
Unfortunately I didn't take some neighborly advice but you should... Stay Away!

After having spend almost $1000.00 to get a pancreatic issue diagnosed with my German Shepherd, they then tried to rip me off on the necessary meds (which she will need for the rest of her life) at over a 300% mark-up! When I found these EXACT same meds at a savings of $200.00 (per month) they refused to give the perscription to the pharmacuetical provider! They were aware that I was moving away the very next day and that my vehicle was in the shop. They told me that I would have to come down within 2 hours and get it in writing and give it to the other company myself. BEWARE OF DR DUDLEY AND THE NORTH END PET HOSPITAL IN TACOMA, WA THEY ARE RIP-OFFS AND CARE MORE ABOUT MONEY THAN YOUR PRECIOUS PETS!!

PROS: NONE!
CONS: Do not care about the welfare of my pets or long standing clientele!!

We take all our pets and wouldn't go anywhere else. It starts when you walk in the door-it doesn't smell like an animal clinic! My dogs love to go there because of all the treats and love they get. They practically run in the door!
My cat was very sick and the vets there were all helpful and honest and stuck with me until we could figure out what was wrong. When we had to say goodby to Sheila even the doctor had tears in his eyes and the staff were all so kind to us.
I will not go anywhere else even tho I know there are cheaper vets in town. You really do get what you pay for!

PROS: Kind, honest people
CONS: None!

I took my new kitten to the vet for the recommended follow-up visits and first set of shots. The location was perfect for my needs. I liked the staff and the doctor herself, very nice and professional. Good clean office. They also offered pet food and other products for purchase on site. I have many friends who use this office and all referred me there with confidence.

PROS: service, cleanliness, location
