This is a music store for the young and hip. Since I'm neither, I generally am only in to buy concert tickets. I will say that this is where I go to buy giftt certs. for teenage family members - always well received. They sell/buy new and used CDs. The cafe as a decent limited menu and good coffee. Great window displays and neon sign.

I don't know of any other music shop in West Seattle that has this much selection! I was impressed with the rare musical items they had. I swear they had everything I was looking for. Their prices are really great too. I would highly recommend this place over any other music shop. Plus you can get a bite to eat!
PROS: Prices, location, selection
CONS: No parking right in front

Growing up in West Seattle I saw Easy Street go from a small hole in the wall to the amazing two floor w/ cafe store that it has become. The selection of music is great! You can find all of the top 40 as well as a lot of local music that is virtually impossible to find. They are also willing to order things for you at no extra charge. The atmosphere is fun, the cafe's food is great, and the service (music-wise), while cold at times, is always helpful.

Although it's not as big as the Queen Anne location they still have a good selection here, and I've seen a good in-store show that they put on here one too. Here, the used records and CD's are upstairs, and they also have a little bin of promo CDs for about a dollar each. I haven't tried the cafe part, so I can't review it.

friendly staff, great selection of really great music. Lots of local music, and great live performances. (at the Queen Anne location.) Why buy music at the big stores when you can support your friends and neighbors?
PROS: don't you love supporting independent businesses?
CONS: the hipsters are HIP.

A+ in atmosphere and selection
by Chase A.
This review refers to the Queen Anne location.
With layers of posters on the walls, helpful "Recommended" sections and the requisite good music running through the speakers, Easy Street Records makes CD shopping a pleasure. Even a tightwad like me thinks its prices are reasonable, and it is far cheaper than Barnes and Noble. I would much rather shop there than the usually comparably-priced Best Buy -- in addition to being locally-owned, Easy Street has a strong selection of local music and off-the-wall picks (ie, stuff that wouldn't grace the Top 40 lists). Service is great, and stamp cards (buy 15, get one free) are added perks.
PROS: Everything else
CONS: Organization somewhat scattered

Decent enough for a local store!
by Anonymous
Easy Street is the place to go when you're not sure what to buy, but you know you want a new CD. It's got a great area for recommended buys, and new CDs are prominently displayed, and usually on sale! They don't have the greatest selection in the world, but they do have used CDs that if you find the right one, you won't mind that they didn't have the new one you're looking for. Prices can be somewhat expensive, so look for the ones that are on sale! They tend to specialize in rock-type music, but you will find some pop and Top 100 CDs mixed in there too! They also sell some cool DVD music-related sets!

The owner kills this place.

I have known this record store for many years and the biggest knock is the owner. He makes me vomit when I think about how he treats the staff. Low pay no perks and loads of thankless hours listening to teens asking about 50 cents and Britney. This use to be a cool store until they wanted to be a wannbe Capitol records.

Shop Here!
by K D.
This is one of my favorite CD places to shop at. Many genres to choose from. They have a large enough area to hold tons of CDs. The chances of finding what you need is quite good.
Sometimes the store will have bands play(usually at the Queen Anne location). Also, they are usually free! How cool is that? If you havent been to Easy Street Records, you're missing out. Go!!!

Easy Street is the place to go to for new realeases, especially when it comes to indie rock/ local bands and electronic. They seem to pride themselves on their selection-- for being a small store (compared to Tower) they have quite a few obscure new releases. Plus, they often bands that are in town for a show come and play a few songs right inside the store!

Yes, this is a good one. I have always been able to leave that store with something tasty for the ears. This is unusual for me. I have a hard time finding new stuff..in which I may haveto resort to the internet. Sometimes though, I like the feeling of physically looking for something new. Easy St. is quite good with keeping up to date with all types of music styles. I really dig that! I think you will too.
PROS: choices, wide variety of music
CONS: none yet

I have been to two of the Easy Street locations ( I think there are only two?) in Queen Anne and West Seattle. Both are great (the West Seattle store has an adjacent cafe and a great used section upstairs!) but I generally stick to the closer Queen Anne store.
What I appreciate most about Easy Street is their extensive local music selection; they generally have every CD I am looking for. Their staff hasn't always been the most friendly in my experiences there, but they're not bad, and they always seem to answer my obscure questions. They also have quite a few listening stations throughout the store, so you can listen to albums before you buy.
PROS: Very extensive selection fo music, very well organized.
CONS: Not the cheapest prices, but worth it for the great selection.

a great place for cd's and t-shirts
by STEPHANIE L.
I love to go in here on a sunday and browse about, listening to the new releases, checking out the local music shelf and going through the t-shirts. They have a fantastic selection of mainstream, local and alternative sounds. Not to mention their magazine selection!! WOW!! And don't forget the dvds, there are plenty.

If you are looking for a great price for your music you need to go to easy street records, they have great sales, and just great everday prices. They are in a convienient location right in the middle of west seattle, so while you are out for your walk through the junction it is a great stop.

Awesome cd/record store.
by jason l.
I'm a DJ and I love to go record shopping at Easy Street. They have the best selection of rock/alternative vinyl in Seattle. They also have a decent selection of more dancey records too. And if CD's are your thing I would still Suggest Easy Street!
PROS:
CONS: Absolutely no cons!!!!

Easy Street

Hip record store at two locations in Seattle: Queen Anne and Alki. Good selection of new and used CDs at standard prices. Good selection of vinyl albums as well. They also buy used merchandise. There are many in-store signings here by famous recording artists, so watch the marquis for updates. They also sell new and used DVDs, magazines, and assorted merchandise. The California Street store in Alki has a cafe, so you can drink coffee while you peruse the aisles. They offer a buyer's discount card.

You'll find all genres of music at East Street very competively priced with a vast selection to choose from. my favorite reason to visit is for the excellent selection of vinyl there is. Check out the used vinyl section for some great finds. The staff is very friendly and knowlegeable. They will be able to answer most any question you might have. Be sure to keep posted on the live in store performances as well. If you're at the West Seattle location be sure to stop by the Easy Street Cafe for a latteand some decent light lunch fare.
