I've been to the Boulangerie a couple of times and have always had mixed results. The sweet old man who runs the shop means well, but he can come across as a little forward if you don't understand his dynamic. The food can be off, there's no doubt, but when it's on (like with the cherry almond pastries), it's on. This place really needs help because it could be great.

When I was first introduced to this bakery, I was with a coworker of mine. He introduced me to the wonderful pan chocolate, and subsequent trips rewarded me with getting to know the owner very well. He even invited me to have a few drinks at a neighboring sushi restaurant! The food is always tasty, and if you are a regular he will recommend items which are more freshly baked. The man works very hard to keep the place running, and has a very strong passion for working like that. Sometimes he is hard to understand because he's Vietnamese, but don't let that get you down.

Get the pan chocolate, danish rolls, or raspberry croissants ... and couple that with organic apple juice. Then lounge outside if you can! Heaven.

Pros: wonderful food and wonderful feel for a corner bakery

Cons: sometimes dirty, sometimes have to call to him since he's working in the back
