My Pet's Vet Clinic is not worth it
by Kaity G.
I had been taking my cat and dog into this vet for the routine exams for a long time now, and everything had been fine. Recently my cat start acting abnormally (peeing outside the literbox and struggling with urination) so I was worried and took him in. I saw the vet who then said it was probably just a uti, and gave me some medication for that ($130.00). Later that day I came back concerned becase it seemed like it was getting worse as the day progressed. THey said that the only thing they could do was take a uninalysis and wait for results and if I wanted to pay for another vist I could. The next day I get a call saying that my only problem was at UTI and to continue using the medication I paid for. Later that same day (it was a friday) after the vet has closed for the day by cat starting breathing funny, so I called the emergency vet hospital and told me to bring him in. After just one short visit the vet on call had diagnosed my cat with crystal blockage, and if I hadn't of taken him to the hospital it would have killed him. Not only did I have to fork over $1200 in vet bills for a weekend at the animal hospital, but it nearly cost me my young cats life.
Never again... I started going to another animal hospital for everything else since and have felt much more comfortable with their care. Maybe for vaccines...but honestly it doesn't seem worth it.

Experience was fine
by Gail R.
I had read the mixed reviews on this vet, but both my mother in law and sister in law go here and have been happy. I tentatively scheduled a spay appointment for my Boston Terrier. Everything really went fine! She was very sleepy that night but absolutely fine the next day. I didn't even need to use the pain meds they prescribed. I found the staff to be friendly-though I never saw the doctor, only the vet techs. They DO seem a little short on the phone when I call to ask questions, kind of like they're being bothered. And, checking out was a little slow-but there were a few people ahead of me. So unless something terrible happens, I'll give them a good rating. Oh and I just called-exam fees are $40!

My Pet's Vet Clinic had great pricing and services.
by Betsy S.
I don't know who Lazarus T. has this clinic mixed up with but the most expensive exam fee is $40.00! I have always been completely satisified with both the treatment of my pets and myself by all the staff and doctors. I would highly recommend them.

My Experience
by lazarus t.
This is an ok place for routine vaccination and other minor services. However they are too greedy and they have no consideration to your budget. The doctor visits are too expensive at $105 for examination that does not take more than 10 min. They may ask you to bring your pet in too many times, where they could easily do it in one session. So beware and ask questions and do not let them run the show. Best of luck to all the beloved pet owners.

Not a happy camper.
by Michelle R.
Back in August of last year, I was looking around for a vet to take my blue heelers to for their spay and neuter. I found My Pet's Vet, and when I first called, the staff seemed friendly enough. I took my male in, and when I went to pick him up at the end of the day, I waited for a good 20 minutes to get to the check-out desk. There was one person ahead of me, and while they were trying to check out, the clerk was cashing out her drawer for the end of the day, and taking her sweet time about it. I had to go to the check-in desk to get someone moving on my check-out and getting my dog. All the while, these people know that I have a business to run, and have the same responsibilities as they do with theirs. I finally get my male, and of course, he's not happy, but he's alert and moving well. The surgery didn't affect him too much, he was full-tilt after an elk in my yard the next morning - with the cone on his head!
His sister's experience was quite different.
A couple of weeks ago, I called to set her appointment, and I was met with a major attitude because I "dared" to ask more than one question. When I put the receptionist on the spot about it, she first denied having an attitude, and when I made it clear that I was not the idiot that she was trying to make me out to be, she apologized and changed her tune. Her initial response should have been a red flag to me.
I take my female in yesterday, and have her checked in by 7:30AM, and was told that she would be ready by 3:30PM. You would think that she would be in surgery no later than noon, so that she has at least a couple hours of recovery and observation time, right?
Not this time.
When I called to check on her at 3PM, I was told that she just got done, and would be ready at 4PM. Uh, OK.
I get there at 4PM, and once I finally get through the check-out counter, it takes them 10 minutes to come out and give the after-care lecture, and another 5 minutes to bring her out. During this lecture, I'm told she was the LAST surgery for the day. So there was almost 0 recovery and observation time. She came out wobbly and unstable on her feet. She cried all the way home, and all evening because she was in so much pain. A call back to the clinic received the answer "Oh, well, they are going to be uncomfortable for a while.." Dog's don't cry just because they are "uncomfortable", they cry when they are in PAIN!
My Aussie had three major surgeries on the same leg at another vet and NEVER cried like that!
In consulting with another vet, they stated that this place should not be running like they are, and that most spay/neuter surgeries should be kept overnight for observation!
Do not put your pet through this! Yes this place is cheaper, but it's not worth your pet's suffering when someone there decides to not take the appropriate time to do their job right!

Excellent
by andrea n.
We brought our puppy in and I was so happy we did. even after reading some of the complaints. One person was bold enough to write the same complaint 2 or 3 times to bring their credit rating down SHAME ON YOU! I used to work for a vet and A LOT of the "angry" clients were angry at us for their own actions. Like waiting too long to bring a pet in and then expecting a miracle. The worse are those that just don't ask enough questions or give enough information like they are mind readers or something. The staff went over the vaccine history with us, explained why we had to start the puppy shots over- WE missed the window- it wasn't their fault they just wanted to make sure our pet was safe. Have you ever seen a puppy die of parvo? I have it is HORRIBLE! They went over the spay costs, and what we needed to do. The vet came in to meet us and loved on our puppy told us about training and it's importance. We billed out were told about vaccine reactions and what to look to for and told to enjoy our weekend. VERY NICE AND HELPFUL STAFF!

Excellent! Tucker was treated royally!
by Jeanette W.
I have owned cocker spaniels for years (and endured all the medical problems known to cocker's as well as the expen$$$$e of having my beloved dogs well cared for). I've had my dogs treated by the most expensive vets and less expensive vets and have found that price and quality in the vet world are not synonymous.
I recently obtained a new-to-me rescued cocker spaniel. After calling around and finding that this clinic was about 15-30% cheaper than vets nearby AND takes all visits on a walk-in basis (a huge plus for this busy mom on the go), I decided to take Tucker in for his first exam.
We were quickly seen. The staff work like a real team. More importantly Dr. Ericson was a true gentleman and gentle man with Tucker. The doctor went over him carefully--I was particularly concerned about possible ear infection and possible trick knee or hip. After a personal exam of nearly 30 minutes, the doctor was still happy to stay and talk to me about the pro's and con's of various foods for Tucker.
I could not be happier with the service, price or the care that Tucker received.
I have read the various reviews and all I can say is that I find them hard to believe. Looks more like a smear campaign than actual testimonials OR like some confused folks who took their folks to another vet a block away. This is NOT Vets for Less.

The worst
by sarah m.
I went back to the vet today I walk in and told them my dog as been in a lot of pain she will not lay on her stomach nor will she let you touch her belly, also she has taken to peeing and pooping in the house as an act of distress. So in walks the DVM and I explain all this to her and she says oh no I only use steel sutures and if you want them removed its going to cost you.
Before I even got my dog spayed I asked if the stitches would be dissolvable and they said yes, it would be overnight and you wouldn't have to come in again and that everything would dissolve on their own and not to worry just give her the medicine once every 24 hours. I even brought her in a week after the fact and ask how the area was looking and if she was healing ok and they said AGAIN everything looks fine the stitches will dissolve soon. They said that anything concerning spaying was covered in the cost so that if I needed to bring her back in for anything about that it would be covered. I have the paper work to prove this! Well of course it doesn't match the paper work in their computer... I wonder why.
These people dont care about animals they care about the money not only did they do this but when they were to release her they charged me an extra $150 higher then the highest amount that they said I would have to pay.

Saved her raw and red. My sweet baby is miserable!
by Jillian M.
My sweet puppy was having a hard time passing a bowl movement. She seemed impacted and all they did was use a razor to shave the hair on her tail and around her butt (why not use an electric razor and why the tail?). They cut the back of her tail and butt up raw. My little sweet girl just cries and licks herself. They charged me $63.00 to just hurt my little dog! They did not even know her temperature or give her a stool softener. When I walked in I said good morning-no response. The staff I was in contact with was cold and unfriendly. O.K. maybe they do not like people but; shouldnt they at least like animals?

My 3.5 years old cat (boy) diagnosis FIP on 12.16.2008
by loming b.
I took my 2 kitties, a boy and a girl to the clinic for annual check up and got regular shots every year. Last annual check up was 09.19.2008. I told the Vet that my boy is losing weight and not active compared to normal. At first, they found that my boy was a little high fever. Then, they gave both their shots anyway and sent home. On 12.10.08, I took my boy in for another check up and demand for blood test. Mother knows best. I demand to have a luekemia and thyroid test. At the time, know nothing about FIP. Result came back and no sign of luekemia and thyroid. I was relief. On 12.16.08, after the antibotics medicine they prescibes, my boy health was declining. I called them again and DEMAND to have another blood test on FIP. Since I comb thru' the web and learn the syptoms. They called me next day and have the result, just cold turkey to tell me it's unfortunate, test positive and there is no cure. Not explaining why and no compassion. I was stunned and get my boy to another Vet hospital for 2nd opinion. It's sad to learn, indeed, a FIP positive.
I am try to blame them. But, I think they can do a much better precaution and syptoms (they supposed to be a PRO). Now, my boy is dying and final days are count down. VERY SAD.

Medical care

I took my pet in for an exam and was treated courteously, professionally and my cat was treated very nicely. The doctor gave me some medicine to give my cat and she has completely recovered. I would go back again in a heart beat!

Ruby's Spay
by Sherry D.
They did a great job on Ruby!! I had no trouble with the stitches! and Ruby didn't bother them (it's good to get the collar to keep the dog from chewing then you won't lose your stitches!) They also found trouble with baby teeth so we had them pulled ...2 so they wouldn't mess up the adult teeth. She was sleepy when she came home but fine the next day! No pain! I'll take her there again for other problems! Sherry D

My experience..
by Tiffany G.
I took my cats in to get spayed and declawed. When I picked them up they had "forgotten" to declaw them. I am happy now that I didn't get them declawed but, I still think this was a pretty major "mistake" on their part!

Very poor diagnostic service
by Emily S.
I took my 1 1/2 year old cat to this vet due to a 2 pound weight loss. I gave the veterinarian some history of other symptoms as well. The veterinarian told me "I worry too much" and should calm down and take my cat home. I put my cat to sleep a week later after seeking a second opinion and learning of my cat's FIP diagnosis.
I was highly unsatisfied with this vet.

AWFUL Vet - DON'T DO IT!
by JKitty C.
We took our lab to get spayed, and they did a TERRIBLE job. I had to take her back to get new stitches put in because they hardly sewed her back up to begin with! No painkillers were sent home (our dog is over 100 lbs and pretty big - and in a LOT OF PAIN), and no tranquilizers.
When we got to the vet to get her stitched up the next day, she was shaking violently in the parking lot and wet herself in my car. This dog is not afraid of ANYTHING, and she is TERRIFIED of this vet!
PLEASE - do NOT take your pets here! :( I will never take another animal to this place so long as I live!

I had my kitty spayed here, and she was treated so well. The staff was so gentle and nice with her, and with me. I was a nervous wreck the entire time, and each time I'd phone in to check on her the staff was nothing but polite and sensitve to my emotional state. When I picked my kitty up she was doing ok, and her recovery was just fine. I had to bring her in weeks later to get checked the all was great. I was really impressed with the prices at this clinic as well, much less then I expected to pay. The attitude of the staff was great, and I will definatly bring my kitty back if any other problems should ever arise with her.. and most definatly for all of her vacinations and checkups! You cant beat the love that this staff has for animals.

I have had positive experiences at this in/out vet clinic. I've had both cats spayed/nutered, shots, and checked out when they were ill. The staff has been friendly. My cats were not traumatized after their visits.

Incompetent and Poor Service!
by 3dogmum
Brought my dogs in for a heartworm test on Monday and they were supposed to call me on Tuesday with the results. I waited until almost 5pm with no news from them. I ended up calling them myself just before 5pm. They were able to tell me what the results were, but they could not explain to me why no one had contacted me as promised. I was also given the wrong information by 2 different people who work there. I had asked if I could just walk into the clinic and purchase heartworm medication from them if my dogs' test results were negative. These 2 people said yes. I was very annoyed to then find out that my dogs need to have an examination before they would release any medication. I had to take time off work to bring my 3 dogs back to them for an examination and of course had to spend more money than I had planned. I now understand that this is standard practice and needs to be done yearly. It is just frustrating that they did not inform me of this when I had asked them about the heartworm medication. They also made no apologies for misleading me in this matter. I also do not like how they shout out questions to you about your pet or make remarks about your pet's health records from where they sit behind the counter. Why don't they call out your name, wait for you to get to the counter and then talk to you? And yes, you do get different vets that see your pet, so there is no consistency. I guess you get what you pay for. I also wish the vet assistants, or technicians, whatever you call them, act more warm and loving toward the pets. The ones I've encountered do not take the time to stroke my dogs, talk to them and comfort them. They can see that my dogs are scared, but they just go straight to work like robots with no feelings. My dogs definitely deserve a better vet and so do your pets!
Pros: Value for money if you are just getting vaccinations
Cons: Long waiting times, temperature inside is too hot

Poor customer service
by happyfiredragon
I've used My Pet's Vet Clinic for the last year and a half to take care of my dog's routine vet care. I had never been too impressed by them but went ahead and used them because it was so close to my house. However, I've recently decided never to use them again for a few reasons. First, they don't take appointments, and I've had to wait for over an hour to have my dog seen on three separate occasions. Secondly, I see a different vet every time I go. Third and most important, it's obvious that their primary focus is making money rather than caring for animals. Every time I went in to have my dog seen by them, they would try to pressure me to have my dog re-vaccinated for rabies even though it was not time. He had been given a three year vaccine in Austin two years ago, and even though I gave them the record of it, they always pestered me about it. And most recently, they refused to sell me any more heartworm prevention medication because it was a year since my dog's last complete physical. I had stopped in on my way home from work (without my dog) because I had run out of heartworm medication. I expected to be able to at least pick up one pill to tide him over until I could next get him in for an annual checkup. The receptionist, after checking with someone in the back, refused to sell me even one pill. She had pulled my file and could have easily seen that I am a regular visitor to the vet's office and that they had seen my dog just three months ago. I was not a customer who would just take the heartworm pills and vanish without having my dog seen. But they didn't seem to care about the health of my dog or their customer's convenience and refused to sell it to me. And they even had the gall to tell me that when I did bring in my dog for his exam, he would have to get another heartworm test, which means that I have to pay more money. This is in despite of the fact that I bought a year's supply of hw medication from them last year! So very annoying.
Pros: cheap
Cons: Poor customer service
