This is the best bakeshop ever. I love how they always make sure to change the stale ones with fresh one just to keep the excellence up.

I had the worst experience at this bakery today. I had called a week ago and asked if they would be able to make a gender cake. I needed a cake that was either pink or blue on the inside and frosted neutral on the outside. When the cake was cut open, the gender would be revealed. I am having a party this weekend and lots of family and friends were coming over to help celebrate. The gentleman on the phone assured me they had recently made a cake like this and it was no problem. So today I drove down to the bakery with my sealed "genderlope" and went to order the cake. An older woman came to talk to me and was confused with what I wanted. She took the envelope and opened it before I could tell her to stop. Thankfully I didn't see anything but was still shocked that it had been opened. I tried again to explain that whatever that envelope said, was to be the color of the inside of the cake. She said they couldn't change the inside of the cake. I told her I had already called and asked about this and I was told you could do it. She told me I was wrong. Really, you don't blue or red food coloring that you can add to the white cake mix? Or put a layer of red or blue filling or frosting inside? Your a baker, you have no ideas for how to make this work? How could you be so unhelpful? This is a family owned bakery which I would expect to be more open to helping out a customer. Going above and beyond. That is not what happedned. I left in tears because my envelope had been opened and I had not ordered the cake for a party 3 days away. I didn't know what to do.
Thankfully, there are good bakeries around this area and I was able to find 3 others that were more than willing to help. Thats the kind of business customers want to support. Not one who tells you one thing on the phone, and then when you think you have everything all set up and ready to go, they completely fail you. Especially to a first time pregnant person who is very excited to get the results and has been waiting with that envelope for a week. I will never be back to this bakery and strongly caution anyone trying to plan something important with them. .

The cake looked nice and the part they actually got right tasted pretty good. But I was NOT impressed when I cut into the cake. Their idea of "marble" is one bottom slab totally chocolate with some vanilla thrown in as an after thought

I was celebrating my 65th Birthday and because I didn't live in the area I traveled 40 miles to order a cake from Borracchini's. I picked the cake up the day before my birthday and was totally surprised that the cake decorating looked like a 5 year old had done it. I told them that is not what I ordered and the girl trying to be pleasant told me they would redo it. It was suppose to have cherry buds in delicate colors instead I got blue cherry blossoms? Anyone ever seen blue cherry blossoms? she showed me a picture and I oked it and they redid the cake telling me it would be $6.00 more. I was so upset I said ok but then I just couldn't believe it when the cake came out and ...well omg...I will never go back. I paid for the cake and left and I will never return. My heart at this point was broke believing I would have a wonderful cake and I didn't. I took the cake to my local bakery and they removed the decoration and put cherry blossoms that where so beautiful. I had to pay nothing even they where amazed if it hadn't been in the box they would have never believed it came from there. They have lost a good customer I will never go back to that store...I will stay with my home town bakery they are the best...Oh bye the way the cake wasn't that great either...Diane Amundson, Tacoma

i hsve been going to remo's for years and always ordered the same kind of cake. when my son went to cut his cake it was not the right one .I was so dissapointed. I even repeated to the person a few times for the cake to be chocolate with ice icing and that my son'w name was spelled with 2 LL's. when i got there it was spelled wrong. they have messed up on the spelling before and they always correceted it right on the spot.
But there is no correcting a wrong cake after the bakery is closed for the day.

I love this place. When I was little my mom used to take us for cake. Everytime I see that cake box I get happy. Just a few years ago I started getting other things there. The panini sandwiches....mmmmmm....the roast beef and havarti cheese and soft bread...to die for!! stuffed olives? um.
Love this place, a definite south seattle treasure!! worth the trip!!

this is the real deal. think of those old delis in the italian neighborhoods back east. rickety old building. inside decorated with fake grapevines and all things red white and green. display cases full of endless pastries, meats and cheeses. aisles of everything imported from italy. homemade pastas and sauces. rows of wine. for anyone missing their italian neighborhoods back home (gallucci's, alesci's) this will make seattle more tolerable. only problem...no cavatelli. but that's common on this side of the mississippi.

I was at a birthday party on Saturday and got all happy when I saw the Borracchini box because they do have fabulous cakes and food. Maybe they were having an off day but the cake was not up to their normal standards. The lower layer was super thin & very uneven, the upper layer was too thick and uneven. Like somebody was in a hurry. The cream cheese filling tasted "off". I can't put my finger on it, not sour, but fake somehow. Like when you get frosting with too much color. I was very dissappointed. I won't give up on them yet though.

A visit to Borracchini's is a must. In addition to the Mediterranean Market part of the store, they have the most fabulous bakery. Their cakes are very popular in the Seattle area. You can walk into the bakery area and walk out with a fully decorated cake of your choice. They have various cake flavors and they are all excellent. Borracchini's is a favorite of mine and they have always met my expectations. I would highly recommend Borracchini's.

I've had plenty of good experiences with Borracchini's, and plenty of not-so-good ones. Their bakery and deli stuff is for the most part incredibly cheap, and some of it is really surprisingly good given the low price. The various breads are tasty, the blueberry muffins are yummy, and an eggplant panini or a mozzarella and tomato sandwich will make a great lunch for $3 or less. However, the chocolate ganache cake I once bought there was inedible! It tasted of some sort of chemical, I couldn't tell what it was, but definitely not something that belonged in a chocolate cake! Also, the fruit topping they use for danishes and lattice pies is about 80% starch, 10% sugar, and 10% food coloring. I couldn't find a trace of any kind of fruit or berries. Yuck! I haven't had much luck with their soups either... Eventually, I managed to identify the good stuff at Borracchini's and learned what to avoid. It may take some time, however, and not everyone will be willing to give them a second chance if their first experience is a bad one.

The oil selection at safeway just wasnt doing it for me, so I took a trip down to Borracchini's. I asked for help and recieved a little rundown of their oils. I picked one out and I think for the bottle size it was VERY reasonably priced. What I love about this place is all the small imported things you just cant find at your regular grocery store. I almost bought a tube of tomato paste last night- and waited. I'm glad I did. The imported version I got at Borraccchinis was less than a 1/3rd of the price (3 dollars vs 9 something). I love their frozen pastas and dinners (the lasagna is excellent and most certainly beats stouffers!)
And then there is the 20 ft long bakery counter. I was given a peanut butter cookie to sample and ended up buying a dozen, as well as a black forest cake. The cake was VERY reasonably priced at 6.99 (compared to 12.99 at safeway for the same thing).

I have been here many times- the staff is friendly, the baked goods are delicious ( try their cobblers or GIANT brownies), and the prices cant be beat. Oh and seriously- can anyone turn down 24 flavors of soft serve?

OKAY...I dont want cake that is oozing thick sugary frosting, and soggy with rum-soaked this, and and wrapped in -by the way - non tasty marzipan and shaped to look like a dog, or cow or cell phone. I want a cake. With basic frosting, cool airspray or hand made designs, that can feed 50 or 10 and some nice fillings. They take the orders online or in person...and deliver, get this....anywhere in Seattle. They just drop off the cake at your office door. Or your condo in Seattle. How much easier and tastier can it get ? If folks want rum soaked, sugar thick frosting over cakes that are works of art: stay away. THis is basic, good old fashioned Old Country cake making. And the rest of the bakery ? YUMYUMYUMYUM

I ordered two cakes for a baby shower and they were not ready on time. They were not decorated and in their rush to get it done while I waited, they screwed it up. The cakes were very ugly to look at. The staff was rude and unhelpful and never apologized for the screw up. To make matters worse, the cakes tasted terrible! The frosting tasted like lard and sugar - no vanilla flavoring or anything - and the cake was dry. I'd have been better off getting a cake from the grocery store. Twinkies would have been heaven in comparison.

Seattle is sooo lucky to have Borrachinis because it is a real Italian bakery. Cannolis are delicious. Their cakes are famous - great for birthdays and weddings. It is a Seattle icon, yet there are many people that don't know about it. My favorite thing about this place is that it is so different from any other bakery in Seattle. It is a memorable expereince to go there because it is more like a bakery you would see in Italy or maybe New York. If you like ethnic bakeries, you will love this place! The food is very special, and the cakes are cheap.

This bakery and market has been a Seattle tradition for many, many years. I've ordered delicious cakes from them since I can remember. The cakes are moist, delicious and very affordable--they have books and designs to choose from that are simply wonderful! Not only can you get authentic italian cakes and cookies, but a deli that serves fresh sandwiches and cuts meats for you. For everything Italian, try Borracchini's Bakery & Market--also a location in West Seattle too!

PROS: You can get everything Italian in one stop!

If you have never been in this wonderful bakery you have to try it. The selection is almost too large to choose from and they make delicious and beautiful custom cakes. They have a place in West Seattle also, but this one is much better!!

I just got my 31st birthday cake about a week ago. Eating a cake from this bakery takes me back to my childhood. Remo Borracchini's has been a tradition in my family for as long as I can remember. The quality has never gone down and the cakes have always been the best. My girlfriend made a mistake ordering my cake and requested the wrong filling. We called the on short notice and changed the order but when we cut the cake it was the original filling she ordered. The thing is I had no complaints. I still loved the cake and mistakes happen. I'm sure I would have had no problem if I brought it back but I just enjoyed the cake that I got for my birthday. I relocated before and I always missed this place. I know where I'm getting my wedding cake.

Pros: Great Service, Quality Cakes

Cons: Not Enough of Them

.

We purchased our wedding cake here, they delivered the wrong one. They couldn't find it and said we had to have the one they brought, needless to say it stood out because it was yellow and our wedding was white. Wrong shape, size, flavor and filling. After our honeymoon, my wife called to see what they intended to do. The person was being helpful until a manager grabbed the phone away and said no personal calls and hung up.

Cons: , bad manners, don't use them

My husband and I got our wedding cake here and the people were very attentive and sweet! They let us taste all kinds of cakes (Oh, darn!) before choosing. Before we left, they filled our arms with bags of breadsticks (for free). The cake was delivered on time and perfect to the Edgewater. The cake was so good, it was actually all gone at the end of the reception (except for the top layer)! We plan on getting a cake for every anniversary!

My mom started a family tradition when I was 4, of taking special trip with her to pick out our birthday cake at Borracchini's. Today I am picking up my husband's cake for his 29th birthday! They also made our awesome wedding cake (matching a fancy cake design from I magazine picture I brought them) & it cost $600+ less than the 3 other bakeries I talked to about the same design. Best of all they don't use that overly-sweet grocery store cake frosting...it's the rich and creamy buttercream frosting! YUM!
