There are certain cities that just have "it" Seattle is one of them. When I went to a friend's wedding there this summer I stayed at the Westin. What a pleasant surprise. They gave me a room on the 39th floor with floor to ceiling windows and gorgeous views. The staff was super friendly and accomodating- I liked the gym.
I totally recommend this hotel if you're staying in Seattle.

An annual meeting of a group I work is currently being held at the Westin - I'm writing this review from my hotel room. This hotel is top notch, as most Westins are. The difference here may be the location. The view from my hotel room is awesome - the bay is spectabular at sunrise, sunset and all the time in-between. Service is excellent. Prices are high but worth it (except for the OJ in the minibar - $5.50!).
Great place!

This hotel is located in a great part of the city. The rooms are very nice, without some great views. The lobby is very nice, and the food was excellent. I highly recommend it.

The hotel feels really large and not very personal. However, it is beautiful and upkept very nicely. It does feel like a chain. The price isn't cheap but it is downtown Seattle. Depending on what you are looking for you can't go wrong with this hotel

The meeting rooms were large an the food was fabulous. Transportation to and from the airport was very efficient. Hotel is close to malls, bars and restaurants.

We had stayed at the Westin Hotel in Seattle a few months ago for a couple of nights, and I was expecting pretty nice hotel stay to get away from it all.
Well, the Westin has some things going for it:
1. Location - It's location off of 5th Avenue makes it really close to lots of shopping and restaurants.
2. Roy's Restaurant - It's a nice plus to have a good restaurant like Roy's on the property. We had dinner there one night and had a pretty good meal.
3. Gym/Pool - The Westin does have a decent sized indoor pool as well as gym equipment that is separated into different rooms (for the gym equipment that is).
Some of the things that we didn't like were:
1. If you get a lower level floor then, you're view isn't likely to be exciting at all. We had to request to be moved to a higher level floor which I would defintely recommend that you do.
2. The service was spotty and not consistent especially with the valet who in our opinion weren't really deserving of a tip.
3. Sure, the beds and pillows were a lot more comfortable than what you would find in a Motel 6 or Best Western, but I really didn't think that it was THAT comfortable. Actually, I thought that the pillows were just too soft to sleep on myself. It would've been a different story if the beds were Tempur-Pedic or something like that.
4. On the 2nd night, we actually left very early in the morning as we were awoken by sounds of our room creaking. Yep, the kind of creaking that you would hear in an old house not what you would expect from a multi-floor hotel.
In our opinion, this was a decent hotel, but definitely not up to par with other hotels that cost over $100/night.
PROS: Gym/pool facilities available and Roy's Restaurant on-site.
CONS: Inconsistent service and creaking sounds in our room.

This is a beautiful hotel. The kind you want to stay at for your honeymoon. It's right in the heart of downtown on 5th Ave. where all the good eating and places to go are. Close to shops too. It's immaculate and the staff is very friendly!

The Westin down on 5th is centrally located in walking distance from the Seattle Center and also the Westlake Mall and shops downtown. I always recommend for out of town guests and business people. But I do going down just to have a drink in their lobby bar and to meet with friends.

I think the bed alone is worth the price! For a weekend away.. or just to regain your own peace.. check in.. crack open a good book.. snuggle in bed.. and rest the weekend away! The staff is always great and they also have delicious room service!

I've stayed at the Westin a few times. The view is beautiful, the beds are soooo comfy, and you really do get your money's worth. My favorite time of day is dawn when the rest of the city is asleep. You can look down and see all the other morning people bustling about. The curved rooms lend themselves to a wonderful view no matter what room you are in. The rooms have your standard bathrooms and tv, etc. But when you visit Seattle, it's not the rooms you are there for. The bed however is always very comfortable. The pillows are perfect--especially if you are picky about pillows. ;)
PROS: great views
CONS: none!

Do yourself a favor...keeping looking for other hotels
by gordonblast
Wow...for the price me and my family paid this was no better than a Motel 6 or Dew Drop Inn. The staff were incredibly snobby, when my wife came down to the desk to inquire about the broken heater in our room she was given a long sigh and a nice eye roll. This was our first visit to Seattle and we were so excited. The rest of the vacation was terrific, so it was unfortunate that our accomodations were so badly chosen. I only write this to warn others, not simply to complain for complaining sake. Come on, guys you can do better.
Pros: the city view was great, but not much else.
Cons: rude staff, poor room condition, no response to broken heater and strange room smell.

Rooms with endless views
by blue_highways
The Westin Towers must be the hotel that offers the best views of Seattle. These rooms are comfortable. They are fully equiped with Heavenly Beds and Bath. As well as a convenient minibar. The Lobby Bar is very open and provides a great atmosphere for conversation. The knowledgable Concierge has all of the right recommendations. And they're tuned into the community. While visiting Seattle, between sightseeing, relax with the best views of Seattle.
Pros: the best views
Cons: can be very busy

Seems outdated
by tlc_critique
Stayed overnight here over Christmas holidays in 2005. Nothing special, which I expect at the Westin. We always stay in the downtown Portand (Oregon) Westin and LOVE it. But Seattle's Westin is nothing special. In fact, it seems old and almost rundown. The one redeeming quality is the view - we stayed on one of the upper floors and had a view of the Space Needle - just breathtaking. And the proximity to shopping (Pacific Place, Nordstrom, etc) can't be beat.
Pros: Great views.

Exceeding all expectations
by passinthrough
May 2005 Why no reviews since 2003? And the first two reviews must have been from comatose patrons. This property was all good . . . even the skywalk connected self parking was a treat for a change!! I visited the second floor restrooms without a notice. I also had non refundable reservations and KNEW IT, but certainly was not interested in changing. The 43rd floor room was quiet, relaxing, spotless and with a marvelous view! Bed and bath were as advertised . . . heavenly! The staff was prompt and courteous Having all this at the Priceline price of $90.00 was truely having it ALL! A perfect long Memorial Day vacation in the Emerald City!!!
Pros: Great location, Fair self parking, Unique and plush
Cons: nothing

not worth the price
by crowsnest732002
I stayed at the Westin Seattle on 02/15/05. The room was booked online for 169.00 plus room taxes. It was a nice sized room, nothing lavish. The bed linens were above average, but the bed was as hard as a rock. The Heavenly Bath they smatter their website with, consists of shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. Oh yes I forgot there's a towel too. theres a regular tub, nothing jetted here. There was discoloration on the ceiling from a water leak maybe. There was mold along the shower tile, and above the toilet. The clerk said "well the north tower is under renovation." So I do not recommend the Westin Seattle for the price.
Pros: inexpensive parking, courteous staff, good spa
Cons: too much money, not so heavely bath, expensive room snacks

wish I could live there
by dmahanw
this hotel is heavenly. The views are among the best in Seattle. I stayed on the 25th floor, it was spectacular. The room was spacious, and the heavenly bed was sooo comfortable, it was hard to leave. The pool & hot tub are great, over looks downtown Seattle with a huge sky light. I can't wait to stay there again.

second floor bathrooms are great!
by nitrono
this hotel is the worst i've encountered the employees are rude and security personell stopped me and told me not to use the second floor bathrooms(which are for public use)what are they trying to prove! maybe i went to use the executive restrooms by accident you'd think they have better things to worry about than to watch the executive restrooms hehehehe! maybe security was having a bad hair day but i will tell my co-workers not to ever use the westin or starwood hotels and properties again.
Pros: great toilets!, none, none
Cons: not friendly, bad service, not friendly

Ripped off

I made a reservation 2 months in advance at the Westin, and called to cancel it one month in advance. Apparently I had purchased a "non-refundable" reservation, and the *minute* I called to cancel it they sent the paperwork through to process my credit card.
I told them I did not want the reservation yet they refused to cancel it. I eventually gave away the reservation to a homeless charity.
I have not even been to the hotel yet and already I hate it.
Pros: I don't know
Cons: Rude reservation
