I don't know WHAT Alex K is talking about below! My guess he/she is confusing this clinic with another animal care facility.
I have three pets--two cats and a dog--and all of them have seen Don since kittenhood or puppyhood.
My family first discovered Dr. Shaffer when my four year old daughter's hamster, Rosie, started convulsing unexpectedly. We rushed her down the street to the nearest vet, and Dr. Shaffer performed chest compressions (and everything short of mouth to mouth!) like a seasoned ER doctor. Though, sadly, the hamster didn't make it, Dr. Shaffer was professional and kind and didn't even charge us. The fact that this man was so serious about a sick hamster (I was actually kind of chuckling, because it seemed silly to be there) completely sold me. We have taken our animals there ever since. He is an animal lover to the core.
His staff genuinely care about animals and their owners, are up to date on their research, and are awesome during an exam or procedure. They are friendly, answer any questions I may have and are completely willing to squeeze us in (or stay late!) to check out a problem or alleviate a concern.
All of my animals have been spayed/neutered by Dr. Shaffer and his staff, and they have never even shown a glimpse of poor pain management--they all had quick recoveries and showed little signs of pain. Again, Alex must've confused this place with somewhere else.
