I'm glad others had good experiences with Jim's Southend motorcycle. Mine was not, and every word of my review is true. I took my near showroom condition 1984 honda shadow 700 (7800 miles, most of its' life in heated storage) to Jim near the end of June 2014 with what appeared to be carb issues. He returned it to me "fixed" on 7/10/14, and charged me 358.00. I rode it about 2 miles and returned it to him with the same carb issues. He then kept the bike until 11/12/14 (not a typo). I told him I was picking it up on that date otherwise I think the bike would still be there. He charged me another 80.00 for a grand total of 438.00 for the "repairs". As I stated, I gave him a near perfect motorcycle. When I got it back, I realized that he had left my bike outside (at least during the daylight hours) the whole time. My bike had surface rust on the front fender, header nuts, pipes, and other places. The plastic handlebar controls were discolored from the sun, the horn button was missing, the seat vinyl was cracked and pieces chipping off (sun damage), the perfect paint on the tank had 3 chips in it, there was paint overspray on the seat and sissybar vinyl, and it ran worse than when I originally brought it to him in June. The original condition still exists (cutting out under load) but now the overall running condition is worse from idle on. For my 438.00, I received my bike back, physically and mechanically, in worse shape than when I took it to Jim. Please don't go through what I went through. Take your bike somewhere else.

My 1975 CB400F had been rebuilt by another shop that charged me $4200. It ran for 125 miles and it quit. Original shop couldn't figure it out but wanted even more money. I took it to Jim's Southend Motorcycle and it was fixed in 6 weeks for $340. Jim's rebuilt the carburetors that had supposedly been rebuilt by the other shop. Conclusion? Jim's Southend Motorcycle knows how to fix your classic Honda for a reasonable price.

Horrible. brought my bike in, paid them to check it out, and tell me what it would take to get it going as an everyday rider. There was gas leaking out of the carbs, paid them roughly $400 to get that fixed and some other stuff they said needed to be fixed. They never called me back when the bike was done, I had to call them and they said, ??oh yeah, its been done for awhile, you can come pick it up? then when i got my bike, right when i turned it on it started leaking gas. i thought this might be due to old gas in the tank, but no they just didn't do a good job then on the way home the bike broke down leaving me stranded and they said, yeah, we??ll try and see whats going on with it just bring it in. They don't say sorry or offer to pick it up or anything (even though it was their fault) . so second time round they said again the bike was defiantly fixed, nope second day on the bike broke down again same issues. yes Jim??s is cheeper than other mechanics (by only $5 an hour) but not really if you count all the times they mess things up and you have to come back and forth. i would take your bike elsewhere.

Honest, quality work at fair prices. Repaired the brakes after they where screwed by the main dealer quickly and efficiently.

Too bad Southend does not work on cars.

These guys are tops for mechanical aptitude, knowledge and communication. They provided me with fast service at an excellent price. Not only was my bike finished when they said it would be, but they even furnished me with a Quality Control Report which provided an entire inspection of my bike. Where else can you get that? I'm glad to have a shop on the south side that does dependable, reliable and solid work and that is owned by folks I'll enjoy doing business with for years to come.

I have an unusual (Chinese) bike, which they've done wonderful work on. They also give great advice and have made suggestions to help me do some of the maintenance myself...
