Daniel Smith Fine Art Supplies

I took an oil painting class at Bellevue Community College, and got most of my painting supplies here. I stopped in about 6 times after that, simply to browse supplies or pick up new canvas board.

The prices here were surprisingly average--a specialty shop like this in Redmond, so close to Microsoft, tends to raise prices a bit. The selection was certainly well beyond my needs, and I had no trouble there.

The biggest problem I had at this shop was in getting attention from a customer service rep when I actually needed it. The store is fairly busy for the type of store that it is. They also seem to have a fair number of projects on order, such as custom framing and the like. Sometimes even getting someone to ring up my items was a bit of a hassle.

But overall, the convenience and reasonable prices won me over, and I continued to go back there.

For all your artistic needs, head to Daniel Smith. Their original store is located in Seattle, and their Eastside branch is in Redmond, but both offer art classes. I needed some Koh-I-Noor drawing pens, and they had the best selection and price of anywhere I searched in the Seattle area. Students can get a 10% discount off their purchases. They carry high quality artistic supplies and even do a very good mail-order business nationwide, so were lucky to be able to shop with them directly here in Seattle.
