Just went there the other day and got the Maui Chicken bowl and it was amazing! I got it with grilled veggies and the ginger sauce they have for the veggies made me want to eat more veggies. I had a little bit of Maui Chicken left and I took it home for leftovers but it wasn't nearly as good as a leftover as it was in the restraunt

When I first saw the ratings the Mustard Seed has been by other reviewers, I was shocked! I gave it 4 stars, but really, it's really more somewhere between 4 1/2 and 5. This restaurant has been a family favorite for years and I always highly recommend it to others. As far as I'm concerned, the quality of both food and service have remained more than good as far back as I can remember, although I'm not a huge fan of the Northtown laocale. I much preferred their former downtown restaurant (now Azteca), as well as their Spokane Valley location (razed and paved over by WinCo).
Several dishes you can't go wrong with (and order family style so everyone gets to try them all or, if not a group of 4 or more, you'll have leftovers to take home - yay!): the Tempura Vegetable starter, Chicken Osaka (the BEST!), Beef and Broccoli, Sweet and Sour Shrimp, and perhaps some Stir-fried Vegetables. The Osaka sauce is especially wonderful and I think it tastes great drizzled over the beef and veggies, too (I always ask for extra) and the steamed rice absorbs it quite nicely. As far as I'm concerned, everyone should try it, whether you dine in, order out, or as I prefer, have them deliver. As I've not really tried many of the dishes other reviewers referred to, my advice is to stick to their specialties - i doubt you'll be disappointed. You just have to keep in mind that this is NOT touted as being Chinese...it's more of a Pan-Asian mix/Asian fusion.

On a recent trip to Spokane, I ate dinner at the Mustard Seed. Our group of 8 went there on the recommendation of friends, and we were happy with the food. This restaurant is located at one of the local malls and is comfortable, but certainly not fancy. The waitress was friendly, attentive and made good suggestions.

The Mustard Seed is located in a mall, up on the east plateau of Spokane. The food and service were both good. They have some typical asian dishes, and some that are more asian fusion. Portions were large.

I would suggest going to the one on North Division, but the one on E. Sprague is also good. They have great bong bong chicken. The portions are very generous, so you won't be leaving hungry from this place.

We truely enjoy the whole dinning experience at the Mustard Seed. The resturant itself is very stylish and cozy and the food can't be beat. What a change of pace! The Asian cusine is wonderfully done. To me it is refreshing to be able to enjoy a wonderful meal that is not all breaded and crusty. The portions are extremely generous and come in a way that it is easy to share different meals between you and your date. They have a great menu with something for every taste. It has become a favorite.

My husband and I ate at the Mustard Seed in the North Town Mall few days ago. I had the Kung-Pao Chicken & Noodles and my husband had the General Mustard?s Chicken. The noodles were undercooked, the seasoning was totally off and the chicken sauce was disgusting. The service was very good, though. If you like authentic Asian food do yourself a favor and avoid this place.

This has been my favorite restaurant since I was a little girl. The food is a light, healthy alternative to traditional asian cuisine. Think "Americanized Asian food". Thats the feel I get from it. Try the maui chicken, green beans, and pork wontons!

We just moved to town and the Mustard Seed on Sprague was recommended to us by a friend so we went eager to give it a try and boy, were we sorely disappointed! The atmosphere reminded me of a fast food restaurant that had been converted. The food was terrible ? salty, fatty, and not authentic at all. I ordered Miso soup and it was actually chicken noodle soup served with soda crackers and a spoon! I thought the waiter had made a mistake so I asked him and he assured me that it was their ?version? of Miso soup.

The only positive thing I have to say about the Mustard Seed is that our waiter was pleasant and seemed a little embarrassed about the food he was serving.
I would not go to this restaurant again.

Pros: None really, waiter was nice

Cons: Terrible interpretation of Asian food. Remodelled fast food restaurant environment.

try the chicken osaka, or at the express try the osaka bowls! you'll crave it! That's about all I ever eat there.

Pros: food

Cons: price has gone up, I don't know if they still have happy hour, location - was better downtown

.

Its not your traditional chinese restaurant its actually "Asian" and the food is by far some of the best food, and that includes all types of food that I have ever eaten. Its fresh, not overdone and very unique. Not cheap but well worth the price.
