This is a nice little place to go see movies. They have a good selection of candy and lots of movies. I recommend going here because it is not too busy and it is clean.

If your'e looking for the off-beat, not so mainstream, really good independent movies then you will love the Grand Cinema. It's ran by volunteers, the people are friendly, and the theatre is small and cozy. Prices are definitely cheaper than your traditional movie theatre.

Good place to find the movies that you've wanted to see but do not air in normal larger theatres. Non-for-profit company so prices are relatively cheap and so is the food/candy.

We saw "Into the Wild" here and it was wonderful. Right down to the concessions stand. Just remember, it is cash only!!! So bring plenty and get some fresh popcorn and watch a movie in a great setting...

Great venue to enjoy a movie. Great location downtown Tacoma - it's run by volunteers and has a great old theater feel. You won't find a zillion flashing lights and huge theaters like at the large multiplex. What you will get is a fantastic theater experience, old school with reasonably priced concessions! One of our favorites for a date night. Plus you can walk around the corner and get a great slice of cake at Corina's Bakery.

This is the place to be on a rainy weeknight or any night at all for that matter! The indie film scene thrives here. I've been here numerous times and always had good luck with everything. I wish there were more places like this around! I saw Broken Flowers and Bottle Rocket here in the recent past. Support this place and you won't be dissappointed! What an awesome selection of independent films.

PROS: Everything!
CONS:

I love the Grand. Only $7 a show, $5 for seniors, students and military, and it always has a good selection of independent, foreign, and documentary films to choose from. Tey also have cult classics playing in a late-night movie slot once a week or so (11:47 pm, don't be late!... Goonies was my favorite...) I have heard they don't do it in the summer but it will be back up and running after Labor Day. Either way, it's a great little place that is purely non-profit and run completely by volunteers. How can you go wrong with that?

Grab a coffee next door at the Kickstand cafe and check out the neat art gallery on the corner before your flick...

PROS: Cost, friendly staff, supporting the arts
CONS: Older theater, some with bad backs might not be able to handle the seats

This is a fantastic independent film theater. Reasonably priced and run by volunteers. You can become a member and get perks or just walk in and pay less than you would going to a multi-plex. The coffee shop and art studios next door are quaint and make for a great pre or post show conversation hub. The only worry may be parking especially if its busy. They do have a lot with free parking after 6 (I believe its 6) but it seems to fill fast.
