This tea shop offers a vast selection of tea. The staff are very friendly and the tea shop itself is very comfortable. I enjoy the cleanliness of the tea shop and also its focus on Japanese heritage. Also a great place to study or read in a quiet neighborhood right on the outskirts of chinatown.

I love the Panama Hotel Tea House. This historic Japanese bathhouse (one of two remaining in the U.S., I found) has been lovingly rennovated by a woman who loves Japanese American history. Great ambiance - honey-toned hardwood floors, black and white photos of the neighborhood from back in the day, wicker chairs and couches with big pillows. A very intimate feel. I highly recommend!
PROS: the maccha (green tea) latte - heavenly!
CONS: parking can sometimes be scarce
