This place is ALWAYS busy no matter what time of the day or night it is. Their burgers aren't even good so I can't understand what all the hype is. But what I do know is that they make some really killer Coke floats here. We must have made a stop at Dick's practically every day we were in town.

CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP! GOOD GOOD GOOD! The burgers taste like they're homemade! They're firm and griddled well, not like the pasty commercial patties you get at drive thru's. Fries are soft, but tasty, and don't think about sharing - you'll regret it! Seating is always available - in your car! Otherwise, it's standing room only in the great concrete outdoors.

Pros: cheap. yummy. 'nuff said.

Cons: didn't see any law breakers...

Greatest salty fries from fresh potatoes and the ice cream is to die for!

The new website has lots of old photos and stories which makes it a trip to the 50's without leaving your chair.

It's just fun.

The Deluxe is the best burger for the money in Seattle. Emphasis; for the money. So good and cheap! Don't forget to get a molkshake too. the only downside is that it's standing room only, outdoors at that.

Cons: no place to sit

Working for an airline has one excellent perk, flying. I've flown numerous times to seattle to eat there specifically the broadway location. 2 cheeseburgers and a vanilla milkshake.. Making me drool just thinking about it!

I don't particularly care for Dick's, but everyone I know seems to love it. I prefer to pick my toppings, but you can't customize one of their burgers. That is probably why it is so cheap. It is quick and kids love it.

A great place to grab food on go if your looking for burger fries and a drink. Do bring your handi wipes though, greasy burger and fries are the norm in a brown dripping bag. If your looking for choices in the menu though dont bother stopping. There is no dine in but there are tables outside during decent weather. Like I said, for Fast Cheap Burger Joint its a great place to grab and go.

I have always enjoyed going to this establishment...One of my largest regrets about moving away from Seattle is that I miss their food. Those of you who think that the food is bad, I respect your opinion, but I really disagree. As far as fast food goes, Richard's (can't use the real name..won't let me) knocks McDonalds, Wendy's, BK, etc. out of the water.

What I appreciate most about this restaurant, however, is how well they treat their employees. I tried to work there when I was in college and couldn't get hired...they are very selective. Some of their employee benefits include:

Paid community service
Paid health care
Educational Scholarships
Childcare assistance
$8.75 to start per hour

Try that at McDonalds. They put their employees over profit...an admirable trait.

Okay, I used to live in Seattle and for nearly 30 years i went to this fave burger shop whenever I could. The burgers are like the burgers I had as a kid...REAL. Greasy. Stick to your ribs stuff, not these designer burgers that the annoying health conscious people think they need. The prices have always been low here, the I have never been disappointed. Cheeseburger, fires, chcolate shake and I am in heaven. Nostalgia? Of course! Who needs a $7.00 designer burger (or anything else from California)??? This is a Seattle place. With all the changes, it is still there, orange and low-tech, completely non-trendy. This is the real stuff! Too bad the censoring thingie won't let me type the name of it!!!

If you don't like it, PLEASE go back to California, eat at In and Out, Fatburgers, whatever. And take your pollution, and developers, with you. I'm not in the least bit nostalgic for Dicks - have lived here all my life and have no reason to be nostalgic. I've tried the places in California, and frankly you can keep them there.

Pros: The best burgers (deluxe, add onions), REAL fries (In and OUt's taste like processed)

Cons: There should be more locations, all over the Puget Sound area

Im not from California and i still think Dicks is vastly overrated. I just cant equate Dicks to good fast food. I'll take a Burgermaster over this place

I just went to Dicks after 2 yrs and the burger was nasty!! nothing like i remembered it...the burger I got was cold and hard dispite the 10 min wait in line....the least they could do is make it fresh. Went to California in the winter and I have to say...the burgers from In-N-Out are no comparison!! If I am ever in the area again, I would rather go to the Jack in the Box across the street...at least they will guarantee my food to be warm.

I understand every gets nostalgic for the burger place they grew up with, but come on! Hasn't anyone travelled outside of Seattle and had a decent burger? Everyone who thinks Dick's is the best should take a road trip down to California and try In 'N Out. I promise you you won't think so highly of your beloved Dick's after that.

Dick's is just average, nothing great. The fries are so greasy and soggy tha couldn't eat them. There are other places in Seattle that have much better fast food.

Dicks drive in is by far one of the best burger joints in Seattle. Reason being the price and the service. Powered by a large team of enthusiastic people, dicks provides good food at great prices. Their strawberry milkshake is so good. If you are hungry, low on cash, and don't feel like Mcdonalds, Dicks is the way to go.

Having grown up in LA, having eaten Tommy's and In-N-Out burgers all my life... I couldn't wait until the next time I was in Seattle to try a Dicks cheeseburger and fries. I should have read the reviews and figured out that everyone here who left a positive posts was due to nostalgia, not because it actually tasted good. In all honesty, their cheeseburger was the nastiest I had ever eaten, no better than the 7-11 burgers. Who the hell puts tartar sauce on a burger, tartar sauce goes with fish nicely, but not on a super thin pattied burger with lousy tasting cheese and a greasy bun. The fries were over rated as well, limp and oversalted so much that I was thirsty for the rest of the night. Too bad Seattle doesn't have In-N-Out so they could taste what good tasting burgers are suppose to taste like

....Maybe the worst burger I've ever eaten........EVER!!! I don't understand the high ratings.
If it's late at night, and you've had too much too drink, and no safe mode of transportation to get to anywhere else, and Dick's is in walking distance, and you don't mind eating sub-par food....then go to Dick's.
If you are from California, and a frequent diner at In and Out........AVOID DICK'S LIKE THE PLAGUE.
Everything about the burger tasted too sweet--as if too much sugar was added to every recipe from the buns to the condiments; it was way too chewy, it's was just slopped together with what seemed like an entire jar of mayo. I don't remeber my burger having onions.
You can get a better burger with fresher ingredients, AND onions for a few nickles more by ordering a Jumbo Jack from JITB across the street.

Sometimes you just want some greasy yummy food. Dick's is your answer. Their burgers are a Seattle tradition. And the milkshakes are great. Remember if you want ketchup it will cost you a wopping 5 cents! Grab a burger fries and rootbeer float and travel back in time.

PROS: The prices!
CONS:

I usually go to the Wallingford location and take my burger down to Gasworks for a little picnic - but each location has the same great food and super fast friendly service!

You don't get special orders. Eat it like it comes! And that's fine because it's SO good! These aren't dinky little McyD's burgers. These are real burgers! The fries and shakes are homemade too! Where else can you still get a "hand dipped" milkshake? Or how about a rootbeer float with HARD ice cream?

Just try it - you will love it!

This is the place to grab a late night snack. Cheap burgers and fries. The root beer floats are awesome. Unfortunately, the food is unhealthy and greasy. Though how can you resist. I would recommend this place to eat once in awhile. Service is fast and there's lots of parking.

Dick's Drive-In is a great place to get greasy, fulfilling food! It's perfect for a cold, rainy day, when all you need is some warm, comfort food. Dieters beware! Not low-carb, low-fat dishes here! You can enjoy a classic burger, with those hard to find curly fries. I recommend their milkshakees!

Fast food - good burgers, fries, and shakes at most hours of the day, and the prices are very low. Makes you feel like you are at a 50's drive-in - all that is missing is the order-takers on roller skates.

This chain is kind of like the "In-n-Out" of Washington.

PROS: Tasty, cheap
CONS: Unhealthy

I'm not a huge hamburger fan these days, as I am watching my weight and trying to eat healthier. But I have my weak moments when I break down and crave cheeseburgers. As Dicks is perfect for me in my times of need. Their burgers are way better than McDonalds or Jack in the Box, and their shakes and fries are delicious. And eating here won't cost much.

I usually order the deluxe burger, which is totally worth the buck in cost for the lettuce and mayo.

If you aren't afraid of a little (or a lot of) grease, their fries are some of the best in Seattle. Also, their Dick's Special Hamburger is cheap and tasty - their special sauce is so good! It's hard to stop their, though, when they have really good shakes in a variety of flavors for only $1.30 more. For fast American food they are much tastier than McDonald's, cheaper and you're supporting a local business that has demonstrated exceptional ethics throughout their history in the Seattle area.

Even during the thirteen years that I was allegedly vegetarian, Dick's was one of those late night guilty pleasures that would break my dietary commitments. One hamburger never killed anything, right? Right? Ok, fine, besides a cow. Yum!

This is a great place to be able to get a burger early in the morning or late night. When I work late night I love to be able to go here and get the best late night burger. There is always a line that I have seen there, I am not sure I have been there when there hasn't been a line, but it is well worth the wait.

So where do you find a long line for burgers at 11 AM and 2 AM? It would have to be Dick's, which seems to be Seattle's answer to White Castle. Pretty good, straightforward burgers, very good fries, and outstanding shakes. I didn't grow up with it, so it just seems like good burgers to me, but watch the lines, and you know it's just in some people's blood. It's fun too, and the service is awesomely quick. They have a great reputation for taking care of their workers and it shows in the good customer service. Many Seattle locations.

My boyfriend and his friends make it a regular sport to stop by Dicks and eat a whole bag of hamburgers and fries after they've been out on the town. I can't do this (how many girls can?) because I would feel much worse than if I didn't eat anything. The food is really greasy, but unfortunately, it tastes pretty good and continues to attract people all the more.

I can't imagine Seattle without Dick's drive in. Not only is it extremely affordable, but it's very unique. Everytime I've spent a few hours on Broadway in and out of my favorite shops a stop at Dick's is a must. I'll never forget the time I saw an interview on a national TV program where Bill Gates was being interviewed and it was at Dick's on Broadway! That just goes to show that everybody eats at Dick's. Their milkshakes are hard to beat and the burgers are the bomb!

There is nothing like Dick's for a hometown burger, Coca-Cola, and fries. This steadfast burger joint has the same great burgers, charming appearance and great service that it had the day they opened up decades ago. A visit at any Seattle area Dick's location is a genuine treat, but there's an intangible special something that gives the Broadway location the edge, even as the neighborhood slowly socially deteriorates. I no longer live in the Seattle area, but Dick's on Broadway is a "must-stop" in my frequent visits to Seattle. Now married, with children, Dick's can now add three avid fans to their list.

The best locally owned fast food place in the city of Seattle. Celebrating 50 years in business it has outlasted others with there fresh cut french fries (the skin is on them), thick old fashioned milkshakes, and tasty burgers at low prices. A simple menu thats easy to order from and not like the rocket science the giant fast food places have. The owners are great to thier employees and great to the community. To bad the Queen Anne loacation is the only sit down place.

I have been traveling around the US for the last four years, and I just have to say that Dick's rocks. It's great to go to a restarante that's so efficient, and still has great tasting food! I can eat a cheeseburger at almost any meal, but sometimes I want my Dad's backyard best. I want the thick, juicy, flame-grilled taste with all the fixins. I don't go to Dick's when I want that. But, I do go there when all I want is some greasy tid-bit to satisfy that part of me that sometimes just craves junk food. The best part about Dick's is that it's unbelievabley low-priced and refreshingly noncomplex. The fries are a tad off-the-beaten path, which is good, and the service is efficient.

I'm salivating just thinking about those limp, greasy fries and burgers oozing with special sauce. Any trip to or passing Seattle involves a side trip to Dick's to feast on cheap, oh-so-satisfying burgers, fries and shakes. YUM!

Pros: Cheap, Predictable, Fast

Cons: Cholestrol, Ambience

Limp, greasy and salty fries and burger is the whole point. If you don't like greasy fat stuff and concerned about your health over saulty fatty fast food you are in a wrong place and you should be eating subway instead. If you love sinfully fatty, greasy burger and saulty fries like rest of us you will love the dicks.

When I started seeing these top 10 burger lists on the internet, I thought "Woo hoo... a great way to find the best food when I want to try someplace new." Then I saw Dick's Drive-In on the list and realized I couldn't count on other people's opinions to steer me in the right direction. The burgers are flat and mangled and dripping with grease. The fries are indeed limp and greasy, but I have a hard time thinking of that as a "good thing". Dick's is fine when you're low on cash or just need a quick bite to eat and nothing else is nearby or open... but by no means does it belong on any top 10 list.

I moved to Seattle from Dallas and was introduced to Dick's Hamburgers and immediately fell in love! Their hamburgers are to die for, not to mention the french fries with EXTRA tarter sauce! Yum! Okay, and the shakes are so, so good! I am hooked!

Pros: very inexpensive, always a crowd, good parking

Seattlites love to bathe in their cultural heritage even if it means elevating Louie Louie to "classic" status, and well... they do similarly with Dicks. Nothing wrong with it mind you, but I'm a little weary of seeing it on top ten lists. Best burger in town is Al's Diner in the LFP Towne Center, btw.

Now that I live in Denver, this is the first place I head to once I get to town. I grew up on this place, especially the location on 45th, right near Grandmas house. It was always a treat growing up just as it is now. My Dad went there in High School and shared it with me and now I am passing on that tradition with my stepson and hubby. Stepson is a mega-picky eater, but he LOVED it!

Pros: quick, good-crowded, reliable, TASTEY, entertaining

Cons: busy crowded

When I was a teenager, I would make the trip from Auburn to Seattle after we'd seen a movie during the summer months.
Sure its crowded, and the food isn't gourmet. But it was, and is, so much fun to get your shake, fries and burger and sit in your car with your friends. Just like all the other teenagers in the parking lot.

Dick's has been a mainstay in the furthering of education, employment of the young, and offering the best quick burger, fries, and shake in the Seattle area since I was a kid. I hope they remain here to provide my children's children with the joy of the special sauce running down thier cheeks.
