Find out why Mamma Melina Ristorante is the winner of the "Best of Citysearch." You will feel immediately transported to the Old Country when you walk in to this cozy, warm and romantic restaurant. The family moved here from Italy in 1989 and have since been running the joint with the same attention and grace as you would do in your own home. A piano player sings Italian tunes and takes requests on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Whether you are looking for a family gathering, a romantic dinner, a birthday celebration or just entertaining friends or coworkers, Mamma Melina will surpass your expectations. The Varchetta family promises good service, great food, great atmosphere and fair prices ($9 to $16 on average for food, and wines start at $17). Buon appetito e grazie. Reservations Recommended.
Mamma Melina Ristorante is not what it used to be
by Frank M.
This used to be an excellent place to eat, but, unfortunately, the food is more compareable to frozen and reheated cuisine these days. The wait staff is so-so. The manager is a nice guy and does his best, but the family that owns it has simply neglected their formerly great menu and standards for food. I'm sad as I have many friends who used to frequent this little place with me, but now I will probably not return unless the family does.

Mamma Melina Ristorante is lovely

It just doesn't get any better than this - my favorite hometown restaurant! I love the ambiance and paintings, the candlelight and the atmosphere. The food is phenomenal as is the wine. Service is excellent.

Good Vibe, Good Food, Great People
by Jon R.
Went here to have a nice dinner with my girlfriend to ease her mind from a stressful week. With good food and live piano music, it was the perfect place for an easy going, stress free dinner. Tuesdays weren't too busy, but had the live pianist taking requests from the audience and doing a great job.

I love the ambiance of this place; the candlelight, the paintings of Sorrento and other Italian cities on the wall. The food is very good and the wine, as well. The staff is hip. The owners are truly Italian, and lend an air of authenticity to the place.

Fantastic and Romantic Italian
by MsJan
You must go on a Tuesday night for the piano player. Be sure to sit close and the piano sound is beautiful. The food was wonderful. Homemade Bread for dipping and OMG, you have to try the bread pudding! We will go back.
Even the server was fantastic!!
Pros: Ambiance and great food
Cons: Parking

The ol Italian place just ain't what it used to be
by MaddFrank
Used to have excellent food and impeccable service. Looks like the good ol days are gone folks. Service is so-so and food tastes like frozen Bertolli meals. Not terrible, just not great. The creativeness, energy and imagination has been lost and has apparently stayed at home in bed with the family that owns it. I cannot return to my old haunt until the team comes back.
Pros: Family owned
Cons: Stranger operated

Good Food
by ACMilan21
The food was pretty decent, AMAZING tiramisu. I loved the live music, but given the space is so small people were talking so loud you could barely hear the amazing voice of the gentleman singing. We celebrated a birthday there, a guy sang happy birthday in Italian while playing an accordian, very nice!
Pros: Live Music
Cons: Loud conversations

Unique, Cozy and Tons of Fun
by D Mann
Been coming here for years, and I can honestly say there is no place like it in Seattle. Sure, its not ultra modern, clean and slick, but thats what makes it special. Its old world Italian style, and very charming. Close your eyes while "O Sole Mio" is playing, and you're whisked away to a small Italian villa. The staff is very attentive, and make you feel right at home. Everyone helps to make sure you have everything you need. Its a great atmosphere!!
The food comes in good portions, perfect for finishing off your hunger pains, and the bread is ridiculously addictive. Nowhere else will you find fresh baked breadsticks, and they are goooooooood! Great fresh fish with prawns, roasted veggies and risotto. Meat sauce way better than your mom used to make. Even just a simple marinara has such great flavors there. This is why Italians eat so much at dinner. Cuz its DAM GOOD!
Tuesday is the day to go, with half priced bottles of wine, Brian playing piano, and its not incredibly crowded. If you go on the weekend, make reservations, or you will surely find yourself waiting by the door, with hosts, bussers and servers trying to worm their way past you (been there, done that).
But don't let that stop you. Just go and visit Mamma Melina, bring your voracious appetite and enjoy!
Pros: fresh bread, good prices, quality food and service
Cons: small tables, crowded

Really disappointed
by qweeny
Well, I am so bummed that this restaurant did not live up to it's reputation here on Citysearch. I have been so excited to try this place and when my husband and I finally had the chance to go on a date we went here. First of all, it isn't really "quaint". It's kind of a old and dumpy. People say it's romantic but I found it to be so noisy we could hardly talk to each other. Also, our server was borderline rude to us which I really hate. She told us a couple of specials but I guess my husband hadn't really heard and so he asked if they ever have lasagna. She said; "didn't I already tell you the specials?" (Yea! she really said that). There was nobody playing piano and the atmosphere was tense right from the moment we came in. We had the chicken marsala and it was just so so. Also, the pasta it came with had a very tangy, vinegary taste that I wasn't particularly fond of. I was really looking forward to coming here because of all the great reviews. I did see one not nice review but I thought maybe it was just an off night since there were so many wonderful reviews. Unfortunately for us, this past Thursday was also a bad night there. Hmmmm could this be a trend. I'll never know because I will spend my money elsewhere next time. :(
Cons: apathetic service, noisy, so so food

by aarthiasdad
Food is ok. We did not find it too special. Just ordinary. What I did not like the most was the service. The host was very rude and did not seat us promptly. May be, it was just not the right day to visit them. We will definitely not go back again!
Pros: Parking
Cons: Service

It's a quaint Italian restaurant with amazing food and bread. The service was great and so was the wine. I reccommend the Linguini ala Pescatora. Outstanding!

Phenomenal Food, Great Service
by ChrisSampson
You might miss it when you drive by, but when you enter, the atmosphere is pleasant and the air is filled with the smells of Italian food. I've tried numerous dishes, and they were all amazing. Among my favorites is their dessert called Tortino. An amazing bread pudding (and I'm not a fan of bread pudding) with apples and cranberries, served hot with a scoop of vanilla ice cream resting in a sauce that has a touch of rum in it. The servers are all polite and very attentive. The food is spectacular. Weekends include a piano player that comes in and plays as you dine. Sinatra while eating Italian works very well for me. This is truly one of Seattle's best kept secrets. If you love Italian food, you simply must give Mamma Melina Ristorante a try. It is my absolute favorite place to eat and has been for over a year. Well worth the visit.
Pros: Best Italian Cuisine for the Price
Cons: Best to make a reservation for dinner

Best Restaurant in the U-District
by SarahKate
My husband and I have been to Mamma Melina twice, and both times have been impressed with the quality of food and service. I'm a poor graduate student, so we usually go for the better inexpensive places around the U (Agua Verde, Veggie Veggie), but Mamma Melina is worth splurging. Our tab came to just over $90--that includes two appetizer Caesar salads (excellent!) two main dishes (a just-right ravioli in rose sauce and the chicken marsala with delicious, flavorful veggies and a side of pasta with fettuccine sauce), a bottle of wine, a giant piece of tiramisu to share (the second-best tiramisu I've tasted in my life), and the tip. The service was great--our waiter was attentive without hovering--and even though we were seated directly by the piano player, the restaurant never got so loud that we couldn't hear each other. The pianist played and sang a number of Italian arias and then came around to ask if we had any requests. Somebody must have requested "Bohemian Rhapsody," which he gamely played and sang, amazingly coming off as charming rather than obnoxious. Overall, the food, atmosphere and service are absolutely top-notch. Highly recommended.
Pros: Excellent, flavorful dishes, great atmosphere

This restaurant has consistantly the best service and most enjoyable food that I have experienced here in Seattle. Cozy restaurant and a good size to keep the feeling quaint while having spectacular food. Best costomer service consistantly, and always leave looking forward to coming back.

Great Food, Great Service
by QAHiller
We visited Mamma Melina's this past Saturday evening. The restaurant was busy, with an animated atmosphere. We were greeted at the door, and seated promptly on time for our reservation. Our server, August, was attentive and friendly and provided some great menu recommendations. The risotto and the veal marsal were both great. Our dinner was accompanied by some entertaining music from the piano, including offers to play requests. We never felt rushed during dinner. We left more than satisfied with our meal - the restaurant provided a great mix of quality, service, and value. We'll certainly be back.
Pros: Tasty food and reasonable prices
Cons: None that we saw!

Best meal out in years!
by greta1
My mother, grandmother, and I went here for dinner and were blown away by how fantastic our experience was. The food was delicious and generous-- all of us LOVED our meals, down to the salads and bread served prior the meal. Our wine was AMAZING; the service was attentive without being clingy, and we were warmly attended to by the maitre d' as well. The ambiance was likewise fantastic; it was bustling but not overly noisy, and the interior is warm, light, and lovely-- I saw many couples there as well. Just when we thought it couldn't get any better, a darling man started playing piano and singing. Beautiful! We left feeling high on life. Plus, it's family run and locally owned. GO!
Pros: Excellent food, service, & ambiance, and live music too!
Cons: None

I love Mamma Melina
by jennybabes
I too was surprised to see some negative reviews on Mamma Melina, but then, there are people out there who truly don't know good food when they have it.
I go atleast once a month, more if I'm lucky, and the staff there always greets me with a smile, and treats me like I'm family. I usually go during lunch, but have been there for dinner as well.
Their lunch menu has many choices, and I've tried almost everything on it, but I usually go back to the pollo parmigana, as it is my favorite.
Really, what more could you ask for. The food is great (I haven't found better Italian in Seattle), and the staff is very attentive and personable. I think that if you find a place in Seattle that has great food, AND excellent customer service, then you've found yourself a winner.
There's not too many places in Seattle where you get all those qualities, unfortunately.
Pros: Great food, family-run, never a bad experience
Cons: None at all

I am super surprised to see mixed reviews of Mama Melina as I have never had a bad experience there. I love the food, the staff there always treat us like we are a part of their family, and honestly I think it's one of the better Italian restaurants I have been to in Seattle. The prices are right and the food is excellent. Don't listen to what these other people are saying, this place is great!
Pros: Location
Cons: Parking

BRAVO MAMMA MELINA!
by joepesce
I have been to Mamma Melina several times now with friends and family and we all love this restaurant. Great atmosphere, live music and over all fantastic food. Classic and innovative pasta dishes at unbeatable prices, delicious home made pastas, veal, chicken and the best calamari i have ever tasted. The friendly and attentive service makes this place one of my favorite restaurants in the city. A must try!!!
Pros: Great Value
Cons: none found

How Horrible Can You Get?
by PublicO
We moved to Seattle and we were excited to try one of the city's "best restaurants." The calamari was disgusting and the main courses were no better than the pasta made around the block in every college dorm room. Before you discount the post as being from an "out of towner" you should know that I am happy with a good burger all the way to 5-star cuisine - this place should be out of business. Shame on the patrons for keeping such a horrible place going for WAY too long.
Pros: None
Cons: All

Excellent Restaurant!
by bretcarve
I was very surprised to find such a great restaurant in The U.district, but after reading the family history i knew i was in for a treat.
My wife made reservation for saturday night at 7.30 and when we arrived the host showed us to our table immediately and told us that our server would come right over to tell us about the specials, wich included the Fantastic Fresh Alaskan Halibut that both me and my wife had for dinner.
The fish was fresh and perfectly cooked, and came beautifully presented on top of a lentil and spinach stew, with 2 grilled jumbo prawns placed on top and fresh asparagus and roasted carrots ( 19.95 ). We also found the wine list to be of great value with many wines priced in the $ 20-$30 range, our Pinot Grigio was $24.
to finish our meal we tried the very good and different Bread Pudding, wich it was filled with delicious apples and cranberries.
I must Return to this Great Italian spot before Halibut season is over just to taste once again the best fish i have ever had in my life! ( hard to believe that Mamma Melina can turn out Halibut better than some of the high end downtown restaurant charging a fraction of the price )
Pros: Value, wine list, atmosphere, great Halibut

unimpressed
by JRR
I went to Mamma melina's last night cause my girlfriend and her friend really enjoy it. Personally I thought it as rather sub par for all the hype it recieved on City Search. First off the atmosphere is nice, there were only a few other tables and the service was good. However I don't want to listen to 70's cover bands while dinning at a supposedly traditional italian restaurant. Wine list was ok though I think calling a Cabernet a "Full bodied wine" is pushing it severly. Have you not had anything other than the few styles of wine you serve???
Food came out in good timing, I had the Scampi al vino, unfortunatly for me I paid 17.50 for a cold dish. I'm not sure how when the kitchen is so close that my dish actually came out cold. More so the plate set up was rather boring, as was the blan taste of the vegetables, pasta was cold with a tomato sauce that had little if any flavor. The Scampi, I've worked in this industry for a while, and spent a good time at some top notch seafood places so i've had some amazing scampi, but last nights was anything but. Cold, rather blan, the tails were dang near impossible to get off cause the were sitting in butter. I was afraid one would launch from my hand and at my girlfriend.
On the upside they pour a three ounce pour for scotch and the tiremisu was rather tasty. I have to say, I would be suprised if I go back to dine
Pros: nice atmosphere
Cons: no italian music, blan food, wine is poorly catagorized

Loved it!!
by maxturn
After reading the reviews about Mamma Melinas we decided to make a reservation and find for ourself if this place was good or not.
When we arrived (4 in our party) we were seated on a nice round table and the host made sure to let us know that they had been in the same location for over 19 years and were running a special 3 course menu for only $19.90, wich he explained that it was the year 1990 that the restaurant opend that was why the $19.90.
everything my party ordered was tasty and fresh, especially the Cozze alla Diavola wich i loved and the Bruschetta Al Pomodoro. We also ordered a wonderful and very affordable pinot grigio $24 and the waitress Lauren made sure to check back with us just at the right time without beeing too intrusive.
I am glad that we found a new favorite italian restaurant , we'll be sure to bring our family and friends for any dining occasion!
Pros: 3 course for $19.90, music, great wine list

Unbelieveably bad
by seafudie
I had my first experience with Mama Melina last night, and was sadly disappointed. There were four of us in our party, and only one felt their meal was mediocre at best. We were excited by the fact that therestaurant had been named Citysearch Best Italian Food 2005, and had frankly expected much more than we received. Obviously something has happened in the last four years... no one in my party could figure out why this honor was bestowed.
It was a busy Sunday evening... the majority of tables were occupied when we arrived for our 6:30p reservation. The curt and cold "host" showed us to our table, which was sandwiched in a row of four-tops, with only several inches of clearance between them. We each ordered something different... I had the Risotto di Parma ($15.50), the other dishes ordered were the Gnocchi di patate ($13.50), Rigatoni di Sorrento ($12.95) and the Scampi al Vino ($17.95). Unfortunately the best thing we ordered was the wine... hard to ruin as it does not pass through the kitchen on its way to the table. The risotto was wholly unremarkable and tasted like it came out of a box, over-salted and boring with a sausage planted firmly on top, which was also flavorless. The gnocchi itself was actually not too terribly bad, if it weren't for the bland sauce it was dressed with... tasted like Chef Boyardee. The scampi and rigatoni were marginal at best. When our attentive server (up to this point, the only shining moment of the evening aside from the wine) came to clear our plates... she noticed that I hadn't eaten any of my meal and asked if everything was okay. I told her that I really didn't like it at all.. without going into detail assuming she would ask me, apologize, let me know she would inform the manager etc..... nothing, not a word... she just continued to clear the table then came back with dessert menus... wow.
The other major disappointment: Husband of owner is billed as an opera singer, yet all I heard last night were 70's cover songs.
Pros: Cozy atmosphere, great potential
Cons: Food, music, parking, food, sub-par service

Excellent deal on quality Italian lunch
by gidons
We came in for a Saturday lunch, and the place was nearly empty, which got me a bit worried - unjustly, as it turns out. The service was polite, friendly, and pretty fast, and the decor is pleasant enough though nothing special.
We ordered a bruschetta to start, which came heaped with fresh chopped tomatoes and a bit of funky but yummy parmesan, and drizzled with some nice olive oil.
We ordered two entrees, with side salad and soup, which came first. The soup ($1.95 extra) - lentil with sausage - was tasty and hot, though too salty. The salad was simple fresh greens, with a surprisingly mild but tasty balsamic vinaigrette (many restaurants make it either too acidic or too sweet.)
The chicken-prosciutto panini ($8.95) was good, but not remarkable - I guess that would be really too much to expect from a panini, though. The linguine alla vongole ($8.95, with clams, white wine, garlic, cherry tomatoes) was very good, with no fishy taste and a lot of garlic and clam flavor. The pasta itself was done perfectly al-dente.
We finished our meal with espresso (Umbria) which was flavorful and well done. The check was $35 including tax, which for the meal we had is a steal.
I will definitely come back, and concentrate on the pasta next time.
Pros: Relatively cheap; tasty; friendly service.
Cons: Parking; no diaper changing station

Wonderful dining experience
by redmondreynolds
My husband and I wandered in to Mamma Melina's the other night and found the atmosphere warm and welcoming. It was a typical drizzly Seattle night and we appreciated the warmth. The wine selection was large enough to offer us excellent suggestions but small enough to not overwhelm us. The service was wonderful as was our dinner. We started off with Calamari, I had the Ravioli and my husband had the Salmon. Both were excellent.
We will return to Mamma Melina and will recommend this restaurant to family and friends!
Pros: Easy to find, nice atmosphere, good food
Cons: Parking's kind of iffy

Delicious Italian Food....Small space
by todda
The italian food here is absoutely incredible. The sauces they create have a very distinct taste. This is a very cozy retaurant and the wait on the weekends can be very long. Many patrons simply like to sit around and sip wine after dinner. The piano is a little loud so it is hard to conversate. MAKE SURE TO GET RESERVATIONS. You will be standing in a cramped lobby if not.

Beautiful restaurant!
by streetcardesire
I've been there twice now with my husband-once when we were just dating and then, again, the other night on our first wedding anniversary.
it has been consistent. they have delicious food. they do have options for vegetarians and are just as good as the ones for the meat-eaters! wonderful wine. and such a beautiful, romantic atmosphere. you can dress up or go in jeans and it's no problem. we had ONE waitress who seemed a bit robotic. but the other staff were very friendly. and she was too, really, but needs to loosen up, perhaps? i don't know! it's not important! the important thing is that it was a lovely way to celebrate our first year of marriage! and sumone ice cream for dessert! :)
Pros: atmosphere, food, music-wonderful pianist/singer who takes requests!!!
Cons: none worth mentioning! it was lovely!!!!

Another great night at Mamma Melina
by Seatown
Took my sister, visiting from out of town here last Tuesday. She was craving Italian, and from my last experience here, It was the place I had to take her. We were greeted by a friendly host, whom escorted us to our table promptly, even though they had almost a fool house. He then informed us that it was half price wine night, so being winos, we had to take advantage of that. The service was warm as was the general vibe of the whole place. My sister got a kick out of the piano man whom came to our table on occasion for requests. We shared what my girlfriend and I had ordered last time which was penne pasta tossed in tomato sauce with smoked mozzarella, and roasted eggplant. And then my personal favorite, Pollo Marsala. Finished with bread pudding which was amazing!!! The place really lived up to all of my hype to my sister, which was a relief, cause she's a tough pleaser sometimes. We'll be back
Pros: Incredible flavors of food, service, affordable wine list
Cons: A little noisy at times, but tolerable
Posted 07/01/08
Great value, yummy dishes
by mcbare
Given the low menu prices, I'm always expecting the food to be mediocre at best. Instead, it's flavorful with good texture and I always leave wanting more. Last time we went, we were seated next to a famous local Seattle glass artist. Not a place I'd think of for celebrity-watching - I considered it a testament to how good Melina's food is!
Pros: Food, service
Cons: Parking

Not as good as Expected
by sandracoons
My daughter and I decided to try this restaurant Monday night. The service was good, but the food was a disappointment. I ordered the baked rigitoni with meatballs, the "gravy" was unbelievably salty and the meatballs were obviously frozen. I didn't understand the frozen meatballs being served in an Italian restaurant. On a good note, my daughters fish was good.
I wouldn't return - this to me was a disappointment in "real" Italian food.
Pros: Service
Cons: Food

one of the best italian restaurants i have ever been to!
by Daners00
my boyfriend and i came to seattle to see the sites and eat the food. this restaurant made the entire trip well worth it! we showed up sorta late, around 9. got beautiful seatting. first thing i noticed about the restaurant was the environment was really comfortable. sometimes i get too uncomfortable with candle lit dinners but this was really cozy. we got our food right as the restaurant was closing and we were the last ones there. this made me feel bad, but the managed was really cool about it. he kept the music going and the wine comin. i LOVE the fettichini! i couldnt get enough. the dessert was insane! the wine list was brilliant. we would up staying until WAY after they closed BSing with the manager about music and wine. we had such a great time, we came back the next night. this really was a restaurant to remember. please go!
Pros: fabulous food, great wine list, terrific dessert, lovely service
Cons: i live no where near it

Great Italian food!
by The_Big_Ragu
I was with a group of four people. We went last Friday (definitely need reservations for a Friday/Saturday). We were seated quickly. The waitress brought a hot basket of a homemade bread that was exceptional. We all ordered drinks. I tasted both the house cabernet and called Avalon (I think?). Don't order the house cabernet. I ordered the Caesar which was good, pretty much what I expected. Caesar salads seem to be that way, you only remember when they bad or exceptional. I then ordered the spaghetti with Italian sausage (yeah I know, no imagination), anyway it was great. The noodles were handmade(?) and very hearty and the sausage was flavorful without be greasy or heavy. My wife ordered the gnocchi which was very good, probably handmade too. My friends ordered the salmon with bow-tie pasta and a penne pasta. The salmon pasta dish was very well done. The salmon was good but not overpowering (which salmon can be in a 'light dish'). The penne was good too although a bit on the 'trendy side' and I didn't like it as much.
We ordered thre desserts; NY cheesecake (it was on the fluffy side but very flavorful), Tiramisu (could have used a little more flavor but I would still recommend it) and a chocolate soffle/torte which was very good and not too dense (I'm not sure how they made it so fast?).
The service was quick and efficient and very friendly. They had a piano player that came around and asked for requests.
The whole experiance was very nice and I would definitely recommend it.
Pros: food, service, atmoshpere, music
Cons: parking

Good food, nice atmosphere
by gdmk
Nice Italian in the U district, the place is nothing fancy, but is warm and welcoming, and we were there on a Friday when there is live music. The service was very friendly, although I didn't appreciate much the fact that they brought us the check while we were still working on our desserts and coffees. We ordered the spinach and prosciutto salad that was very tasty but not as big as I we whould have wanted. We also had the eggplant rolls that were really great and very genuine tasting. We had the penne alla siciliana which were very good, and the spaghettini piccanti which my wife found a little heavy, but I though were not bad. The wine list was decent, not very long, but with few pearls. We had a Montepulciano, variety that I am familiar with, but the cantine we chose wasn't the best ever, not bad though. As for desserts, the tiramisu was below average, while my chocolate tortino was ok. At some point the singer/pianist, funny and friendly guy, that had put an entertaining program passed from the tables to get requests. Not in our immediate priorities but we might be going there again some time.
Pros: Good Italian, live music, friendly staff
Cons: Parking, plastic table covers (are you serious?)

Excellent service, great ambience, delicious food!
by Karl34
I highly recommend this establishment based on a very positive experience there last night. Making the reservation (late on Friday afternoon for the evening) was easy; the person I spoke to was extremely helpful and accommodating. We were seated immediately upon arrival. The place has an intrinsic ambiance that made us all feel "at home". Water and warm bread were on our table very quickly. The menu selection was very reasonable; they also had two specials also which sounded delicious. Friday is apparently opera night, and it was wonderful to listen to the pianist/singer while enjoying the food (he even did a song from Phantom of the Opera - which my wife likes.) The service continued to be very good throughout. Our food overall was delicious. We'll be back here again!
Pros: Service, Ambiance, Entertainment, Food
Cons: Noise level, Parking

Perfect for a "dinner and a movie" date!
by louise_if_you_please
Mamma Melina Ristorante serves Italian dishes prepared with a keen awareness. On our most recent visit, I started with the chef?s whim salad, a daily special, and it was a savory sweet treasure arranged with Gorgonzola and pear. Everything after that was just as superb and we have tried many Italian restaurants.
After dinner we had planned to go upstairs for a free movie screening. As we were enjoying our finely prepared food, we noticed a line forming outside the movie theater (The Landmark Seven Gables Theatre, just in case you want to do dinner and a movie too). When our waitress saw our concern as we reviewed our free movie pass she reassured us that the line had to reach a certain distance before the theater would reach full capacity. She even went to take a peek outside to make sure we were still safe as we finished our coffee.
If you want a charming place to enjoy a fine Italian meal before a movie, or anytime, just try Mamma Melina?s. The Landmark Seven Gables Theatre tends to play arty future classics and we received our free passes from Scarecrow Video, which is in the same Roosevelt neighborhood.

Very Family Friendly. Delicious. Priced right.

My family and I recently ate out at Mama Malina's. I have two small children and a husband who's a resident doctor so you can imagine we don't get to go to restaurants much. When we do go out, though, we want it to be family friendly and worth our money. Mama's was that and more! Not only did we get genuine service, we got our food quickly (great for the kids) and felt welcome with our children in this restaurant. The waiter was well-seasoned in the arena of kids. He had the chef make a special children's dish for our daughter, then gave us a heads-up as to the temperature of the food. This restaurant also hosted my daughter's preschool for a culinary fieldtrip. The owners truly are good at what they do and extend themselves to individuals, families and this community. Thank you Mama Malinas.
Pros: Family Friendly!!!

Great Italian that won't break the bank

This is my first review. I am an avid reader of Citysearch and always use this site to pick out new restaurants to try out. That is how my friends and I discovered Mama Melina's.
Food was above average and the bread, although salty, was very good. We got fantastic service. The real gem was the piano player who took our request to play "Toxic" and actually performed it on his piano!
I will definitely come back to this restaurant and have already recommended it to a few of my friends since going there last weekend!
Pros: Food, Piano Player, Host
Cons: Parking

Service impecable!

I must say, I've been able to experience the food quite a few times, and I have never been more pleased. I recently read the total of 3 bad reviews for this restaurant and am completely convinced that these people are legally insane. They are obviously cast members on America's Most White Trash. The lasagna, chipino, and marsala have teased my taste buds more than a super models nether-region. The service has more home feeling than dinner with your wife. Since enjoying the food for over 2 years now, I have never been completely through their wine list... It doesn't seem to end. These "bad reviewers" had to be people who can never be happy. Ready to slaughter any restaurant, via internet. 5 stars to this place for finally letting me know that there is a slice of heaven under these clouds. service was perfect, food was very delicious.

I don't usually write reviews but after taking my girlfriend to Mamma Melina this past Saturday I wanted to let others know how good the food and the service was.
We arrived 20 minutes before our reservation and the hostess made sure to get us seated right away and was very accommodating with our request for a window seat.
The food we ordered starting with the Caprese salad was simply prepared but very tasty and fresh.
My main course was a fantastic seafood mixed grill and my girlfriend ordered the special pasta bolognese also very good.
We finished our meal wit a shot of Grappa and a great warm chocolate cake.
This was our first time at this restaurant but for sure we will be bringing all of our family and friends here in the near future.
Pros: inexpensive wine list, great service and tasty food
