I've been going here for 20 years. It hasn't changed much and that is why it is still a success. The pizza's are great with lots of toppings. This is a tavern, so you must be 21 to eat inside. You can order a pizza to go if you want to share with the kids.

I'm not a big pizza fan to begin with, but you don't need to be a pizza connoisseur to instantly realize this pizza is all wrong. The crust is the real problem with this pizza-it tastes frozen and reminds me of the pizza dough my mom used to make us as kids back in the 80's. That wouldn't be too suprising, considering the menus & decor look like they haven't changed since the 80's either. Judging by the somewhat obese nature of most of the patrons, I'd say the amount (not quality) of toppings is the real draw here. Having said all that, It would still be a good place to go watch a game and have a few beers. The service was excellent and the place has an overall good vibe.

The best description for Northlake's pizza is - WOW. It was so much more than we expected we had quite a bit of leftovers. The vegetarian is very, very tasty. We will be returning.

Ok, it's a pretty unique pizza experience, you love it or you hate it. If you like a BIG taste-explosion pizza loaded with toppings, a couple slices fill you up with leftovers for breakfast, relaxed tavern atmosphere, good location, the Northlake is for you. If you're worried you'll get sauce on your hands, prefer New York toast waxed with tomato paste, frozen pizza, or Chuck E Cheese atmosphere you'll be disappointed. I've been eating there for 20 years plus and it's always better than good. Sometimes it's quiet, sometimes it's hopping, hey, it's a tavern not a tea house. I usually don't care for olives but we always order the combination, including sausage and ground olives, which is a perfect balance. So if you want to try a Seattle institution come on down, if you're not adventuresome you'd better stick to Dennys.

Always great pizza with a ton of toppings!! One slice is a meal. They could double in size and still not have enough room!! Prices are competitive for what you get.

A small pie weighs over 2.5 pounds, a medium pie weighs nearly 4.5 pounds, and a large pie weighs over 6 pounds. I usally get half vegi half combo. Order a large because there is nothing better than this pizza when its cold except when its hot.

This pizza is nasty! The ?fresh? ingredients include slabs of tomatoes that are green in the middle and mealy on the outside. Do not use tomatoes in the winter or substitute with Sun-dried tomatoes. The crust, if you can call it that; is tasteless and obviously not made on site?no Hobart mixer in that kitchen?and has the qualities of frozen pizza dough you get for a $5 pizza from Fred Meyer. To top it off, their ?antipasto? platter was drenched with cheap Sysco Italian dressing and was supposed to have ?fresh roasted vegetables?; instead it had more of those nasty mealy tomatoes. I don?t know why everyone raves about this place; the only appeal is the amount of toppings (which make the ?dough? soggy) caters to the glutinous American appetite.

Not too sure why people are all about this place. Simply, the ingredients are cheap and the pizza is expensive. Just under $30 dollars for a medium sized pizza/gut bomb.

Yep. The pizza is seriously tasty. I like all pizza, and when I'm in the mood for a big, hearty pizza with lots of fresh veggies and cheese, this is the one and only in Seattle. However, I can sympathize with other reviewers' complaints of bad service. Tonight I got my pizza to-go, and they screwed up my order pretty bad. Granted, I had made a special request, but I didn't think it was too complex (no olives on one half and no mushrooms on one half). So I had to wait while they re-made it, which would have been OK, I suppose, if I wasn't also getting occasional dirty looks from the cashier. Also, while the Northlake's claim to fame is the generous toppings, make no assumption that this means you won't pay extra for those extra toppings. But! Those toppings are delicious. Also, when I finally got the pizza home, it was kind of a mess inside the box. I attribute this to the cooks' rushing to get my pizza ready quickly since I was waiting, and thus had to take it with a grain of salt.

Overall, the pizza's great, and the server working the floor seemed to be really friendly. The girl at the bar was a little snotty (maybe she was having a bum night), but what can ya do? Plus, there is a great selection of beers, a dive-bar atmosphere (which I don't particularly mind), and the wonderful original David Horsey murals. Go for the pizza and stay for the murals!

Well, the pizza was reasonable and the beer selection was good, but I couldn't get service to save my life. You know, I don't need much....just check in on me once and a while, especially if you see that my mug is empty. I was sitting there for quite a while, the place was nearly empty, and my glass was empty (for quite a while).....and the waitperson was sitting at the bar having a nice little conversion. Last time I'll go there!

This had to be the worst pizza I have had in along time, I would compare it to Little Ceasers( How bad is that???)My boyfriend has raved about how good this pizza is and tonight we decided to o there and he grw up eating this pizza, and said it was horrible. I couldn't cut it with my knife but the dough wasn't even cooked all the way through. (YUCK) there was grease all over his hands and it was nasty. I have never complained about a restuant ( since I work in one) But this was bad. I will never go back, and FYI it took us an hour to get our CRAPPY PIZZA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The last couple of times i've been here I have been disspaointed. The food portions seem smaller too. Last night I got the feeling that the workers are there just to work and don't really care that much about their customers. This is idiotic! The second to last time I went here the manager told us he was closing early. Although he did recommend a place to eat in Fremont, our group of 7 was dissapointed and it was even an hour before their closing hours. Again, intead of taking the opportunity to wow us and give us excellent customer experience, there was a sense of greater importance on shutting down early.

This place and Tutta Bella represent the Yin/Yang of the pizza world. Tutta Bella is about discretion and perfection. Northlake is about Inspired Excess. These aren't so much pizzas as science projects - How much stuff can we pile onto this crust before it collapses? That said, I LOVED Northlake. I'm an American; I like stuff BIG. While I'd probably rather, given a choice, spend the evening at Tutta, Northlake is THE place if you're hungry and not looking for artistic flair. All that debris atop your crust is really GOOD debris and the tastes are remarkable. I see no reason to choose. I'll just eat at both.

This place is a legend that lives up to the reputation. Everyone must have pizza at the Northlake at least once in their life to be complete. It absolutely completes the deal if the experience is before or after a UW football game.

I can't find anything to recommend this place- average pizza, surly service, rickety tables and chairs, lousy parking, no waiting area. I've given it three tries within the last five years and it's off my list.

the pizza is the most overrated in Seattle, the crust is terrible, a hard plate of crust with a dough rim to hold a mountain of various toppings. It really isn't pizza as much as a hodge podge of pizza toppings plopped into a crust. If portions is what you are after than you will enjoy. Otherwise, the crust, sauce, toppings... substandard.

I have been visiting Northlake for over 30 years. It has been consistently the best pizza through the years. None other has demonstrated that they can maintain the quality like Northlake Tavern and Pizza House. You may have to wait in line at times to be seated but it's well worth it.

While the pizza here isn't breaking any world records, it is pretty good. Northlake Tavern is a great place to go with a group of friends, enjoy some pizza and a pitcher or two of beer.

The place can get busy on weekends which slows down the service greatly. If the place is busy all I can say is just relax and wait.

I have been going there for 25 years, not as much lately. I would recommend this pizza to all my friends until the other day. I got a pizza that was nothing like the ones in the past, something has changed, something is broke. I hope they can fix it before my next visit or I wont be back. It has always been over priced but because of quality it was worth it.

Living in So. CA we don't get a chance to eat at the Northlake often enough. But growing up there spent a lot of time in the "U district". However when in Washington we're there. We have turned several of our friends from So. CA on to the Norhtlake as well.
And so on and so forth. I love it when I'm visiting someplace & I have a Northlake jacket or tee shirt & someone stops me and says you know about the Northlake. They have been known to flash freeze & fly FedEx uncooked Pizza to Alaksa.

We love them. Meat Lovers & can't say enough about the different types of beers. Just try gettin in during a Huskie game! Even when you know the owners and from out of state doesn't have much pull.

The Northlake is still a cornerstone for Seattle Pizza, although not as much in recent years. Rumor has it that their meat vendor they bought pepperoni and salamis from went out of business a few years ago. Somehow their pizza has not been good since. I still enjoy the pizza and the unpretentious atmosphere - reminds me of a Midwest dive bar to bring real friends. Leave your shiny-shirts and yuppie cell-phones at home.

Lots of toppings does not a good pie make, alas. The crust was fair. Sauce fair. Generous toppings, but I suspect that's only because that's all they CAN do right. It's fine pizza if you're not picky or someone offers it to you, but you can do better for the same price.

I continue to be amazed that people continue to rate this pathetic excuse for a pizza so highly. I went to Northlake Tavern & Pizza because of its ratings and was expecting an awesome pizza. Instead I had a pizza that reminded me of a frozen pizza. Looking into the kitchen, my tastebuds were correct - stacks of frozen pizza crusts. Sure they put on mounds of topping - but who cares - the very foundation of the pizza is manufactured and frozen. People that like this pizza should get to another city like Chicago or New York and try real pizza.

Often, locals latch on to a place and return in a nostolgic attempt to relive their younger days. In turn, this sick devotion is passed on to their children.

Northlake Pizza is just such an establishment for Seattle. The product is a truly foul perversion of pizza. In their kitchen, hordes of unhappy college students labor for mere seconds to produce your meal. Starting with a salty dough ball, the pimpled workers pound it out and ladle some red goop onto it. They then dump on pounds of cheese and literally fling toppings here and there. The rendition of the recipe is so poor and haphazard that the results are uniquely nasty. The greasy results are almost unedible to anyone who is not drunk.

It's almost worth eating here so that you will avoid future recommendations from Northlake Tavern enthusiasts.

College student "chef-of-the-week" makes your pizza. It is NOTHING like great pizza that one would find in Italy, or even New York. The crust is always soggy, under cooked, and they think that piling a ton of stuff on a mediocre crust equals a quality pizza. Wrong. More is NOT better!
Because of the employee turnover, there is no consistancy and the ingredients taste like they came from a huge can. The decor is dated and unimaginative. It is a loud place with little, or no, atmosphere. Plenty of free parking is the best feature and the fact that they have beer. If you guzzle a pitcher before eating, you probably will look through your beer goggles and think your're having a decent pizza experience. You are not.

It's a great place to hang with friends and drink good beer, however, the pizza is not very good. I have heard how it's some of the best pizza in Seattle, so I went with about 5 friends and checked it out. We asked a couple of other guys to go and they passed...saying that they didn't like the pizza. As it turns out the 5 of us agree with them. It has no outside crust, bland flavor, and the crust it has seems like it could be pre-made frozen. I've had MUCH better in Seattle.

Northlake Pizza in Seattle is the most scrummy and delicious pizza on this planet and probably in the whole world. You can taste their quality ingredients and the types of crusts make it just that more special. If I still lived in Seattle I'd go at least once a week.

Pros: Excellent pizza, wide selections, good beers

Cons: A bit pricey, Bad parking

The toppings are ok. Good amount of cheese. Pizza crust is terrible. Its got the consistency of cardboard. A real turn off. If your looking for a great pizza and $5 pitchers of Red Hook take a drive to sunny Moses Lake, WA and go to Chico's Pizza. It looks like they use a snow shovel to pile on the toppings. I also reccomend getting a side dish of smoked oysters. Chico's is well worth it. The following rating is for Northlake.

This is not pizza! This is soggy bisquick crust with a truckload of undercooked toppings, devoid of flavorful sauce. I could make better pizza myself with an english muffin and a can of tomato paste. The joint was filthy, smoky, and the service was lousy. We waited 1hour and 10 minutes to get our pizza from the time we ordered. It was not worth the money or the time we spent.

This place is living off the legend that they once had good pizza, like 20 years ago. It hasn't been good the last two times we've been there and is just a dark, smoky place to have just OK pizza. It's also is pretty pricey for what you get.

This is not the best pizza in Seattle..not even close. It is undercooked and overloaded with too many toppings.

Yuck! This place stinks! I can't find one decent place in Seattle to get Pizza. Just because they pile on the toppings, doesn't mean the pizza is good! We even got to pizza to go, so we wouldn't have to sit in the smoke. IT STILL STUNK! Yuck!

The pizza is the best around but they still allow smoking. It gets so filled with smoke that it ruins the meal.

This pizza is the best ever! I love to go to bars and find cool hole in the wall places. This is by far the best one I've come across yet AND they have wonderful pizza. If you go there with just one other person DON'T get the large unless you plan on having leftovers for the next couple days! Best, Best, Best!!!

It is as good as the reviews say.. The bill was under $30 for two - Pizza and Beer included!

Casual tavern atmosphere is appropriate for the food. Awesome pizza (thick and heavy, they don't mess around).

This is the real thing Seattle! I've finally found a pizza that uses real cheeze, spicy and thick toppings with more than enough to take home for another meal. Good staff with prompt, friendly service. The beer's damn cold and thirsquenching. It needs to be to put the fire out!
