Does Fremont offer the best shopping options in Fremont? If you're looking for collectible vinyl records, it sure does, thanks to Jive Time. I'm not much of a collector, but even still I was astounded by the selction of old vinyl lps at Jive Time. Their specialties are in rock and soul/R&B. If that's not your cup of tea, you can also peruse their used cds section, and feel free to get recommendations from the knowledgeable staff.

This little record shop in Fremont has a pretty good selection, mostly of just vinyl records. They always have bins on the sidewalk out front of discount records. I?ve made some good finds of relatively hard-to-find import records at surprisingly good prices - like $3 copies of Japanese shamisen music, or old Jacques Brel records... Most of the rarer records are not so cheap, though, of course.

Jive Time just recently opened it's welcome 2nd location on Pine St. It's sister store in Frmont can seem a bit too far to travel too. I say the more the merrier when it comes to records. Jive Time specializes in punk, new wave, no wave, and post punk . Check it out!

What I like about Jive Time is that they don't buy used records from people who didn't take care of their stuff. I will buy records that I already have there because the condition standards set by the store. The downside is that some of the rare albums seem to carry an extra premium with the afore-mentioned quality but that is not to say you shouldn't spend $75 on that Sun-Ra album. It is to say that I often look through the bargain bins first - you never know when you're going to find Hall and Oats Greatest Hits for a dollar, in mint condition. Also carries good maintenance items for record collectors.

Pros: Records with no scratches, proper organization

Cons: quality equals higher prices
