Bad management.

I signed a 12 month lease on a studio apartment here in May 2012. It's small but comfortable, affordable and in a very convenient location. I like the tenants that I have met and in general had a good experience. The Stratford companies website was easy to use for submitting work orders, paying rent and looking up contact information. The manager was always available by phone and addressed my questions and concerns immediately.

In mid October I got a note stuck to my door that informed me the building was sold to a QAG PARTNERS, the management is now Seattle Management Services, LLC. They gave me a phone number and e-mail to reach Dave Yuchasz. I was also informed that as of Nov. 1st there would be an onsite manager "to help with any issues that may arise".

Note:
There was no mailing address for this person or company provided.
This letter was taped to apartment doors, not handed to me by any person.
This notice was not officially mailed to us.
This notice and contact information was not posted conspicuously in the building.

I was never introduced to the manager. There was only a vague e-mail posted on the office door. When I asked people in the halls and my neighbors about it, they also did not know who the new manager was.

Sunday Dec. 23rd I needed my friend to help me move some heavy things into my apartment. Before I could call the previous manager to arrange for a temporary parking spot. Since I didn't have the new managers number and it was the holiday weekend so the parking lot had been relatively empty all week, I didn't think it would be a big deal to temporarily park in the back lot.

Big Mistake.

My friends truck was towed.

Obviously distraught I e-mail the manager with subject: URGENT. I also called Dave Yuchasz and left a voice mail. I did not get a response from Dave Yuchasz and had to wait a full day before the manager responded to me via e-mail.

Christmas Eve my friend and I had to take a bus down to Georgetown to pay $350 to get her truck back. My compliments to Gary's Westside Towing LLC for being efficient and professional. We asked them if we had the right to know who called them? They responded no, but told me to talk to my manager since she was there. Which means, the manager was there to receive my e-mail and did not respond to me for a full day and only then I discovered, because David Yuchasz contacted the manager and them to respond to me.

This makes me feel incredibly uneasy about the management in this building and I now have a great number of questions and concerns. Who is the manager (the person who now handles my rent check every month)? How do I directly contact them so that they may immediately respond to a tenant emergency (what if I lose my keys or any other emergency scenario that needs immediate attention)? How does a tenant handle moving things in and out of the building? Why is David Yuchasz not responding to me, who is he?

Among many many other questions and concerns that have come out of this situation.

I think that it is a very reasonable to request an in person, face to face meeting with my apartment manager. I had to request a meeting three times via e-mail, and note slipped under the office door (the only other way to communicate with the manager) before the manager agreed to meet with me. The manager has still not confirmed a day or time and will not meet with me until after Jan. 1st so unfortunately my vacation will be over and I will have to rearrange my schedule to accommodate them.

All in all very unprofessional and I do not recommend this building to anyone.

I recently moved into Queen Anne Garden Apartments from out of state and the manager April was extremely helpful and made my move easy. She was very attentive to all my concerns & needs. I rented site unseen. When I got to the place I thought okay this will definitely work. I wasn't used to studios being so small but apparently in Seattle you can actually rent an even smaller place than at Queen Anne Garden. The studios here I guess go from 350 to 450 sq.ft. My studio doesn't have a view but it's very clean and quite comfortable. I haven't had any maintenance issues as of yet & I've been here for a 1 1/2 months. The place is clean and I can always reach the manager. As for Travis ---- there is no Travis here. Good property & good manager.

I lived at this place for 2 1/2 years and it was the worst time of my life, between the crooked manager Travis Jones trying to cheat me out of 2 month's rent that he says he "lost" the proof that I'd ever paid it, and the "sisters" Donna, Judy, Winchester98109 and the whole freakin nut house. GOOD BYE to YOU
