by Brian G.

J-LO loves Maser's!Our cute mini-schnauzer gets all pretty up at Masers. They really do a good job! The few times J-LO visited other groomers we all regretted it. Only at Maser's she gets the right grooming for her breed. Thanks Maser's!

Maser's Kenmore Groomers is Great!

by Elizabeth D.

Our current dog, Kismet, is more fiesty than our prev. dog, but they are great with her and have never suggested a sedative. I believe that would only be a last resort. They are very busy because they are really the only decent groomers in this area and people like to take their dogs here. I trust Maser's to treat my dog well and do a great job.

Safe place for your pet

by Anonymous

I've used this location for several years, and used several different groomers. My dog is emotional and will not eat for up to a week when over stimulated or distressed. she is also hand stripped, which is a very stressful process that can take most of the day.

I have always gotten my dog back in a good mental state and we have never used a sedative. Based on my experiences so far I'm sure that the request for sedation is not taken lightly.

I have recommended this facility to my friends and feel confident in continuing to do so.

Masers Is Awesome!

by Kristina M.

I really need to jump in here. I have been a grooming student of Masers for almost a year now, and am 8 days away from graduation. Needless to say, I have spent a great deal of time there and have seen the grooming part of the business first hand.

One thing that I cannot stress enough is that well meaning people who offer to "help" or "watch" the grooming are not really helping at all. Even the BEST behaved dog will not stand still or behave if Mom or Dad is around. The groomers are not "hidding" anything by not allowing you to watch, they are saving themselves valuable time from being wasted, because the outcome is always the same.

Masers has several Groomers who work there and they take on the toughest jobs! Jobs that other groomers refuse to take on. The shop is extremely busy and if the groomers stood to chit -chat for a half an hour to each person dropping off a dog the work would NOT get done. Then you would be calling to complain about the amount of time we have your dog!

The Groomers at Masers really know their dogs! Denise (owner of grooming section of business) is AWESOME and places great importance on continuing education, not only for her students, but her Groomers and herself as well! She keeps on top of the lastest products, styles and trends. All of the people who are employed there are real dog people.

Since I have been there I have seen her pay out of pocket for her Groomers to go to grooming seminars, one as far away as Vegas! They are even closing the shop an entire day this month, so that Denise can go (+ pay for) all her Groomers (5 in all) to a $100 a head seminar. Denise takes dogs/education seriously. Period.

I can tell you also, that they place a good amount of importance on using a muzzle only when really necessary--Let alone asking to sedate your animal. They work really hard with the pet to help it adjust to the grooming process. I can say with absoulute confidence that if you were asked to sedate your animal, it was absoulutly necessary not only for the saftey of the Groomer but also for the health/safety of your pet.

People need to realize that the behavior of an animal at home with their family does not always reflect the way it will re-act to grooming. Sometimes dispite the groomers best effort, the dog simply has it in it's head that it is going to thrash around like it's very life is threatened, and risk harming itself.

If the Groomer is concerned about the possibility of this and suggests that you may want to get the dog a little seditive to help it learn how to accept this process without hurting itself, I feel that is the ~responsible~ groomer. Would you prefer one that just brutally forces your dog to take it and doesnt communicate with you at all?!

The bottom line is, If you want a sub-standard cut from people who took a 4 week crash course, and know nothing about dogs, than by all means go to Petsmart!! But if you want dog educated people who take their career seriously, than Masers is the place to go.

People need to quit taking hard working, busy people, for being short/rude. Masers loves their clients and knows most by name/dog even though they have a huge clientel!!

Wonderful Shop, will never go elsewhere

by Toki S.

I dont see where Rhoda B. is coming from. I have always brought my dogs to masers and I love their bussiness. I have a very rowdy and obnoxious miniture poodle and they never turned me away just because he sometimes caused problems. and of course their grooming varies but thats because you cant do something twice.
I think its a wonderful business. and the pet shop is very nice.

PROS: great grooming and wide variety shop and knowledgable
CONS: some what expensive... but what isnt these days?

Pet Shop OK, Not Grooming

by Rhoda B. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 5,304

I took my small poodle here to be groomed for several months. I wasn't wild about the place, since he never came out looking the same way twice, the people at the desk seemed impatient with people and dogs, and things seemed perennially chaotic. Still, it was convenient to home. Then my great aunt moved in with us and her peke-a-poo was added to the mix. Rags was a nice dog, but she had some attitude, if you didn't approach her with dignity.

I took the two dogs in for washing and clipping four or five times, and then suddenly one day I was told not to bring the two dogs back unless they were sedated first. The woman telling me this was pretty nasty about it, and I was quite shocked. First, there had been no hint before that there was the slightest problem. Second, my dog had always been a sweetheart, and now he was being lumped in with Rags as a troublemaker.

My husband called the shop and said he agreed that the groomers had a right not to deal with snappy, snotty little dogs, but asked if we could stay with the dogs to witness the problems and perhaps modify the behavior. We were refused. At this point, it seemed pretty odd that they didn't want us to see our dogs being groomed...were they doing something that they didn't want observed? We did not want to medicate our pets unless there was no other choice. We called Paradise Pet Lodge in Woodinville and our problems were solved.

The pet shop end of this business is perfectly acceptable. The staff is fairly knowledgeable and pleasant, and tries to be helpful. Still, after my experience with the grooming end of the business, I find most things I need at Denny's Pet World in Totem Lake, now.

PROS: Pet store is acceptable
CONS: Chaos in the grooming end of the business

Great little pet shop

by Denise N. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 7,944

Masers is one of those small-town type pet shops which caters to the individual. A nice change from the franchises, their staff is friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. They offer great grooming too.
