A very creative menu that has never let us down ... we've been going there for the past four years and loved it , every time. It's also a great place for entertaining friends who are visiting/new to Seattle.

It's a bit more expensive that we would it like, but it's not over-priced ... we just think of it as a special treat as opposed to a regular hangout.

Pros: Consistently great food & amazingly friendly service

Cons: A bit on the expensive side

I love this place. It's got the sweet ambience I like and delicious, fresh, creative italian food. Sometimes, creativity can bring some mixed reviews -- my boyfriend got a pizza that had eggs and anchovies on the top. I thought it was tasty, but it was a bit strange to see and think of. I have loved all my food, however. No complaints. Delicious pastas, heirloom tomatoes with mozzarella and delicious olive oil. Definitely special.

I frequent mom and pops, hole in the wall restaurants to 5 star establishments..including The French Laundry. La Medusa's food is excellent yet very affordable ( In L.A. would have double the price). I cook, so I know the chefs put a lot of work in the final product. Ingredients are always fresh, cooking techniques demonstrate the skill of trained chefs, capturing the taste and texture of the raw material. LaMedusa is not a Meat and Potato person ,but if you are a foodie and have tried and appreciate many different cuisines of various culture, you will love the food served here.

I have my dinner at LaMedusa at least once a week when I am in Seattle for business.

How often do you get to chat with the chef at a restaurant in Seattle? It's more of a small town occurrence than a Seattle thing but at La Medusa last night Chef Earl came out and said hello to the four of us mid meal. So far we had tried his Spicy Butter Roasted cauliflower which was powerful in flavor and something I can't imagine creating myself. The octopus was so far from chewy and accompanied by a hummus like dip. I used to avoid Octopus but Chef Earl has made me want to eat it for breakfast. Next came our pizza. We each had a piece of their brocoli rabe pizza which had not proscioutto, but some pork meat on top. It was a bit overdone on the edges which wasn't bad because it screamed homemade freshness. The pizza was a huge portion and perfectly covered withe the right amount of ingredients and spice. The meal was accompanied by bread from Columbia City Bakery that was soft, fresh, and perfect for dipping in the amazing sauces and very green fragrant olive oil. The wine suggested by our waitress was on the pricier side but worth every penny. It was an amazing match for every flavor we experienced. For dinner we all split the pork ribs and the tuna meatball pasta dish. In all we concluded that each main course alone would have been too much of one flavor. Splitting them was perfect. If you like to share please do so at La Medusa! The portions are generous, the service is kind, welcoming, and the ambiance is how you want your home to feel to strangers. To end the meal what else would you do but eat dessert? The lemon cheesecake was devoured and the pastry chef of the bunch was amazed by the dense almond delicious crust. The espresso chocolate cake was also dense and gobbled almost as quickly as the cheesecake. To sum it up, La Medusa was an eating extravaganza with an absurd amount of fresh flavors that consistently challenged our taste buds and left us ready to go back for more.

La Medusa is great food and a lively atmosphere - one of our top local faves. The food is innovative Sicilian - both the beef and the fish dishes are terrific. Great service, fun atmosphere, and terrific fava bean creations!!

La medusa looks so good from the outside and when we arrived and sat it was hustle bustle ( which we love ) but no music playing in the background, how bizzare. Our waitress has a lame personality visiting us way too much, she raved about some of the things that we ordered on the menu like we had hit the jackpot, one being the chard salad with golden currents. It sounded deliciously different but turned out to be lacking alot of flavor, and the idea ws so good I wanted it to be delicious. The pasta was mediorce red robin or something. A very cute space for a fabulous italian bistro, and after going to all the wonderful joints in the hood we were so bummed that La Medusa was not good. We will give it another shot but such a bad first experience.

Friends and I shared dishes. We tried a cous cous dish with chicken, the antipasta, and salted cod manicotti. The food was delicious and the service was wonderful. We even ordered a "holy canolli" that was amazing. The space is a wee bit cramped for heavy folks and the wine is pretty expensive. All in all, we loved it.

La Medusa has a great menu, friendly service, and a very nice atmosphere. We were a party of 6, and had a wonderful dinner. It was relaxing, we were never rushed. There were many nice touches like warm appetizer plates & and warmed dessert plates. The flavors were wonderful. The price was quite reasonable for such a fine dinner. The only downside was the wine list. The most reasonable priced red wines were $24.00 and they ran out (we ordered the last bottle). It would have been nice if they had a larger selection & quantity of wine at a lower price.

I've been enjoying the occasional dinner at La Medusa since it opened. Yes, the menu has changed since it first opened and it is more expensive. I like it even more now than when it first opened. I love the food and I can't figure out what the other reviewers are talking about in regards to the service - the service is consisently good. Based on the crowds I regularly see at La Medusa I'd have to guess that many of my neighbors agree with me that La Medusa continues to be a fantastic place for dinner - and I don't have to drive downtown!

At first I was delighted to find such a highly rated restaurant conveniently located to home. However, my dining experience at this restaurant was very disappointing for these reasons: grossly overpriced entrees; mediocre service; appetizer-sized portions; and worst of all: I can make better Italian food and I'm Asian. Having spent 20 years near NYC showed me how good Italian food can be, and La Medusa is none of those things.
