The pastries/breads/sandwiches are just delicious, and made fresh !! The service is small town friendly...you feel "at home". As far as a recommendation...hows this; my wife and I drove 100+ miles to enjoy breakfast there and then drove back home. It's that nice !!

Really cute bistro setting. They have delicious baked goods and the most huge cinnamon rolls you've ever seen!

A bit hard to find a table at lunchtime, but well worth the wait for a good sandwhich and a cup of soup.

We had dinner at Dakota Cafe on Friday night. The restaurant is located in historic downtown Ellensburg, about 5 minutes from the freeway. The menu has a good variety foods, including pasta, chicken, fish and steak. We were served 2 different types of bread during dinner, and the white sourdough bread was possibly the best bread that anyone at the table had ever eaten! Dinners were moderately priced ($10-$20) and the food was very good. The servers seemed to know several of the other patrons, and did not pay much attention to our table.

What a discovery in the heart of historic Ellensburg. The Dakota Cafe is warm and quaint--the decor is horse and cowboy pictures but in a classy, modern setting with lots of room. Fresh, mid-price menu. I wasn't joking about the warm, freshly baked sourdough bread...best I've ever had! Only the service was lacking.
