I try to support businesses with similar ethics as mine.\nAfter having read this article and many others about Thai Ginger's owner having committed immigration fraud--paying people to marry her relatives so they could stay in the U.S., I can no longer support such a business. Even if they do cook good food (sometimes), this restaurant is terribly managed and owned. And her employees show the lack of management in their atrocious customer service. Not a place to go. \n\nCitysearch isn't letting me post the article so you'll have to look it up using the key words ""Thai Ginger fraud"" and I read most of the articles but mainly the KOMONews one.

Ate at Thai Ginger Redmond on Saturday night after viewing the Expendables. Food was much better than the movie! Had Asparagus prawns ? were tasty and good. I like things spicy and they delivered ? asked for 4 star and it was good. My friend had Chicken wrap; I had to steal a test taste. It was good. Meat was hot and juicy, wrap was cold and crispy.\r\n\r\nWe were the last people in but the servers were pleasant and friendly. Served us well, made sure the waters were refilled, etc. I noticed they did have other duties to do as it was 930 PM and they were prepping to close. Right amount of attention was paid ? we don?t like having someone hovering all the time.\r\n\r\nThanks for a good meal and great evening Thai Ginger Redmond. Keep it up!\r\n

I don't know whats up with this idiot below me giving this awesome restaurant one star over and over again, but they clearly need to lighten up and find something else to spend their time on. This restaurant is amazing, the staff is friendly and it is my favorite place for thai food. The phad thai here is my favorite food anywhere. It makes me a sad panda to see this restaurant with such a low rating because of this one over zealous patron creating multiple accounts just to bring the rating down. I LOVE THAI GINGER, I WILL NOW PROCEED TO CREATE MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS TO BRING IT UP TO THE GOOD STANDINGS IT DESERVES. YAY!

I have eaten at this restaurant for many years. The service was pretty fast, but not that friendly. The food was good, but not that cheap for Thai food. The last time I ate there was HORRIBLE!!! I don't know if they changed cooks or their recipes or what. The curry we ordered was waaaay tooooo sweet and the sweet basil with tofu vegetable dish we ordered was a salt lick. Not only was their food bad, they changed how they made their thai iced coffee (which used to be a favorite of mine). They added waaaay toooo much sugar in the coffee. It was so disgusting. I took one sip and had to send it back. At first, I thought they put too much cream in it, but they said it wasn't the cream. They add the sugar in the big batch of coffee. Whatever the case, the food was terrible and the drink was terrible. On top of that, 2 waitresses (the ugly one with big cheekbones and the one with the outdated bob haircut) stood across the restaurant, pointed in our direction and was talking about us...almost in disgust because we complained about the drink. Can you imagine if we'd complained about the food? Definitely do not recommend this place, not unless you have no tastebuds.

We were in a party of 5. We ordered several entrees and a few starters and no alcohol. The food was average and the service was wanting. We ask for the bill and find a total - no details. The total was at least double what we expected. We thought the bill should approximate $100 but it was almost $200! The waitress won't give us an itemized bill so we ask for the manager. Well, the manager proceeds to yell at us, calling us ""rude white peoples (sic)!"" We have no idea how the bill cam eto what they demanded butg we paid and left. We will NEVER return to this awful place.

Our food was cold so I mentioned this to the waitress. Next thing I know the manager comes stroming out of the kitchen and is yelling at me, calling me a rude, arrogant white man! I cannot accept this treatment nor should you. DO NOT GO TO THE THAI GINGER

I thought I had seen it all but not until last night. Our waitress was taking our order when she began digging into her nostril. We were too shocked to even say anything! Well, we discussed this after the waitress walks away with our order and decide to leave. The thought of eating at this place is too much to consider. As we are walking out the female manager gets in our path and demands payment since we have ordered food. We explain what happened and she screams at us, ""I no care! You pay for food!"" This is really bizarre. We explain we have zero interest in eating at the Thai Ginger but she then says she's calling the cops and that we are thieves! We left in any event and even had the manager follow us into the parking lot. This was an awful experience. We will never go back to the Thai Ginger and you should not either.\r\n\r\n

we went here for dinner. evrything was pretty slow - getting seated, menus, water, food order. Well we're eating our meal, finally, when the waiter is at our table pouring water refills. He suddenly turns, points his butt cheeks at us, and rips off a long, greasy fartt. He then turns back around and resumes pouring us water. We have never been subjected to such rude and crude behavior - we are speechless. I finally ask this kid what is his problem and he tells me that he ate in the kitchen before his shift and he's had bad flatulence all night. He then wanders away from our table without any word of apology. I cannot believe he did not pass gas in our face without intent as it was too contrived. Needless to say we will never eat at this place ever again!\r\n\r\n

The servers were just horrid. Very rude, unresponsive, couldn't care about anything. The food was terrible. Our Tod Mun was rubbery, we think it was a reheated leftover rather than a freshly made item. The Phad Siew was really sweet; we've never had Asian noodles made that sweet. We got some rice but it was definitely leftover garbage. The best though was there was a hair in our Panang Curry! We told the server about these problems but she told couldn't be bothered. She told us that was how the dishes were supposed to be then walked away from our table. I guess this means their curry comes with hair I suppose. We got a bill that was just a number, nothing was itemized. It was a lot more than my mental math said it should be so I asked the server about this problem but she said the total was correct. I asked to speak with the manager and she told me she was the manager. I didn't believe this so I just paid the friggin bill and left. I will never go to any of their restaurants and neither should you. Bad service, bad food and then getting cheated on the bill. What a screw joint!\r\n\r\n

this place used to be a favorite but we haven't been here for almost a year. the service has really gone down hill, really, really down hill. we waited for at least 30 minutes to be seated but when we were taken around the corner to our table we saw at least 4 empty places. since nobody lfet during that time the tables had to be empty! the woman sat us right next to the bathroom. there were open tables but she told us they were reserved for other people. the three of us sat down and it took another 20 minutes to get waited on. after another long wait we got our food but the noodles were over cooked, the red curry was too, too salty, and the rice was garbage. we ate less than half and asked for the bill. there was no break down of items just a total and the total was at least $20 more than what we ordered. i aksed about this but the woman ignored . we left the amount they wanted, didn't tip and left. we'll never ever go back. you should not go here as they will gyp you.\r\n\r\n

I went here for dinner with some friends. We had a couple appetizers, a couple currys and noodles. The food wasn't that good and it was served lukewarm and cold. I didn't feel that good after eating and went to bed early. I ended up with a really sour stomach with food coming back out my north and south portals. I think the food here was tainted since it wasn't hot when they gave it to us. I know I got sick and all but I need to tell you that this place was really bad. The staff was pretty rude and it seemed they were trying to ignore us during our meal. The food quality was no that great even if it was sefved hot. I don't know if they let the dishes sit out to long before bringing it to our table or if they were just nuking stuff because it went from lukewrm to cold pretty fast. Finally you could smell the bathroom because it's right there in the dining room. A customer went in to take a dump and we sure could smell it while we were trying to eat. I got sick that night and it had to be there food. I don't recommend this place at all.\r\n\r\n

Pros: The smell of feces

Cons: I was really ill from eating here

We had dinner here last night. The food was pretty average but that is not the reason I am posting. No. During the meal I happened to get up to use the Gent's. My business was light and quick and I was in and out in less than two minutes. After about 10 minutes the female manager comes over to the table and loudly accuses me of having choked up the bowl in the men's toilet! I was speechless but I realized that every eye in the room was squarely on me - I have never been so humilated, ever! I protested that it wasn't I who commited this outrage but I am still not sure why she was accusing me as the correct course of action would have been to address the problem discreetly by unplugging the toilet. In any event, she seemed to want to accuse me of causing the problem but didn't seem to want me to do anything about it. What this public outburst did, hoiwever, was spoil the appetite of everyone in the dining room. She was loudly talking about the bowl being choked up with fecal matter. This ruined the meal and people began to get up to leave. We did too but this is when she starts screaming for payment for our meal. I told her she ruind the meal and we would not be paying for it! She now wants us to pay for the others who are leaving as I caused this whole scene! I was speechless! Utterly without words! The last I heard was her screeching about calling the police on me. This was a terrible experience. I recommend strongly that you give this place a miss. \r\n\r\n

Cons: Savagely mistreated by staff!

Some places live on past glory - Thai Ginger is a great example. We have seen the quality of the food and service both decline drastically over the past couple of years. The last straw was last weekend. We ordered the usual set of food - couple of starters, soup, and a slate of curries. well, sad to say the food was found wanting - temperature was off, rubbery texture on noodles, seasoning was bland. We brought this to the server's attention and she just shrugged and did nothing. We asked to see the manager and she ended up arguing with us! Maybe there is new ownership or something but these guys have gone downhill. We will not go back - you should avoid unless you ewan to be yelled at by a restaurant manager!

We heard good things about this place so we gave it a try. We ordered some starters and three main courses. Bottom line - the spring rolls were soggy, the Tod Mun was rubbery, the seafood soup had no seafood, and the curries were bland and certainly not worth the price. Watch out on the bill - they will charge you for rice, and other things you did not order. They will argue with you too if you question the bill. I think they intend to shame you so you'll just pay. It was pretty bad, really. We will never return.

We ordered a couple appetizers - spring roll and fish cake, tom yum soup and a cuple of curries. The food was pretty bland as it wasn't spiced as we had requested. The spring roll was clearly reheated as it was soggy and spongy in texture. The soup was supposed to have prawns but there was only one small shrimp. The curries were nothing special and in fact seemed to be warmed out leftovers. The worst though was the pretty awful service. Rude and uncaring. I cannot recommend this place in any way.

Decent food, but really bad and dishonest service. Food arrived on the table one hour after ordering and the waitress appeared only three times: to get the order, bring the food and the bring bill. Apparently they have a special policy to overcharge the bill by 18% if there are more than 6 people at the table. Customers find out about such policy only when the bill arrives. Three adults and three small children (two 3 years old children and 1 year old) were considered as 6 adults and the waitress added the 18% additional commission to our bill. The addition doesn't come printed on the bill, but hand written on the bill, which makes it even more unreal. When inquired about it, they act defensive and disrespectful, asking if we know how to read... apparently the fine print at the end of the menu mentioned the 18%. Unfortunately they left on the table only one menu and kept it for about 2 minutes, so there was no time to read the fine print on the back. \r\nHow they handled the bill problem: as customers, we were told that if they were not to bill us for being six(since it didn't seem fair to count a 1 year old as an adult), we would be charged anyway for bringing children in, although they were very well behaved. Are people with children being discriminated in Redmond's Thai Ginger?\r\nIf they wouldn't have overcharged our bill for a bogus reason, they would certainly have received a more generous tip than their default 18%.\r\nWe just paid and went away, we will never set foot in that place ever again. Very disappointed and offended with the behavior of their staff.

Cons: Bad behavior on staff, unfriendly, children not welcome

I've tried so many different thai restaurant and so far Thai Ginger in Redmond Town Center is the best Thai Restaurant I've ever been to. The service is wonderful, the staff are really friendly especially towards my kids, and I love being able to see the chefs cook. I always get the Phad Thai and Chicken Cashew nut.. it's so fresh and yummy. I eat dinner and lunch their atleast 3 times a week and I just can't seem to get enough of it. WARNING, during lunch time it's pretty packed. All in all it's the best authentic thai restaurant!

I am really tring to figure out what it is that gets so much positive press about this restaurant, because my experience there a few nights ago was hardly impressive. Let's start with the atmosphere, which seems to be agreed-upon by even big fans - noisy, cramped little 2-top tables, no ability to have a private conversation, and a sense of being rushed. On the good side, the decor is attractive enough, and our waitress was very smiley & friendly.\r\n\r\nBut it's the food that matters when it's all said and done. We had 3 dishes, 2 of which were on the house specialty menu. The chicken lettuce wrap appetizer (a house specialty) was a pile of indeterminable crumbles of meat, dry and far too salty, accompanied by a wedge of iceberg lettuce that was about 1/2 core. If one could peel 2 of those leaves off to use as a wrap, it would have been a commendable accomplishment - and that's assuming that iceberg lettuce is what you would want to fight for. For entrees, we selected the seafood wok house specialty, which was the worst of our 3 choices & the most expensive. The dungeness crabmeat (which was listed as the first ingredient on the menu) was hard to find - we think it was the shriveled brown curls that looked more like crushed ginger, but never really solved that mystery. The scallops were rubbery, and the entire dish was again, so salty (msg?) that it was simply unpleasant to eat. Sodium-sensitive people would absolutely have a reaction to this dish. The sweet basil tofu was clean enough in overall style, but it seemed that the primary ingredient was onion, and by the third or fourth bite it was sadly just too boring to continue.\r\n\r\nOne other bright spot is that they do offer brown rice in addition to the traditional white; but the $35 plus tip that we spent there seems a bit extravagent for a simple bowl of one thing that was well-prepared. We left hungry, thirsty, and wiser for the next time that we are looking for dinner after a Redmond Towne Center movie.

I've eaten in Thai restaurants all over the country, and this is the best. I've been there 10 times, and the food is great every time, and every dish. It's crowded, but managed so well that I've never waited too long for a table. The sauces, the soups, the deserts and drinks are all great.

I eat Thai food on a weekly basis and, although I live in Seattle, I will often drive to the Redmond Square Thai Ginger for one specific dish: Phad Kee Mao. I have tried it elsewhere and cannot seem to find anywhere that seasons the wide-noodles to perfection quite the same way, not overly-saucy but with plenty of bite. Other places crowd their noodle dishes with unnecessary vegetables like carrots and green beans which, in some circumstances, detract from the relationship between the noodles and the seasoning. Thai Ginger does not. I will order 3-4 stars and cool it down with a Thai Iced-Tea, of course. Other menu items of interest include Pineapple Prawns and anything with Panang Curry. \r\n\r\nAn open look at the kitchen area adds a comforting touch. You can see the people who make your food and the aroma is like a separate appetizer. It gets crowded and the seating is sometimes a little invasive but it is in a mall setting where the expectation is to move guests in and out somewhat quickly. Ultimately, the customer has control over when they leave so my suggestion is to engage in eating - chow it down or box it up. There are people waiting to see a movie whose time restrictions have them a little impatient. \r\n\r\nSome have frowned on the service - it is inconsistent. The staffs at the other Thai Gingers in the area are almost identical in this way. All in all, this is one of my favorite places to eat so I let a lot of the peripheral complaints go. The food is worth the money.

Pros: Food, Perfection of Wide-Noodle dishes

Cons: Mall Crowds, Questionable Service

Thai Ginger has been doing booming business ever since it opened a few years ago in Redmond Town Center. This location is a great option for a quick lunch, either dine-in or carry-out, and has plenty of accessible parking. Service has improved over the years, and the open kitchen adds to the festive atmosphere.\n\nThai Iced Tea is on the sweet side, but is an extremely good start to the meal. Chicken and tofu dishes are excellent, and sauces are right on. Dining area can be on the loud side some nights, but is normally manageable. Best choice for authentic thai food in Redmond!

Food was average to above average. Could have had a little more (heat) spice. Service was good - friendly and knowledgeable. Very noisy. Felt rushed.

Thai Ginger in Redmond serves the freshest food and their staff is always around to help you out with whatever you need. My favorite dishes are the Panang Curry, Tiger Tearless, and the Phad Kee Mao. It's often loud and busy because Thai Ginger is such a popular place to go and eat, but unlike other places, the staff does not neglect you during your visit. They always have more than enough staff on hand to make sure everything runs smoothly.

I've enjoyed Thai Ginger both times I've been. The food is delicious - I've tried a lot of different things, because it's served family-style, so everyone can have a bite of everything. \n\nI was surprised at how mild the curry was, even when we specified 4 stars. However, the flavors are wonderful. I was amazed there was basil in my curry, not spinach as I thought. It's a sign of excellent food when the flavors meld together and one flavor doesn't steal the spotlight.\n\nThe Thai iced tea is AWESOME - black tea with sweetened condensed milk poured over the top complements the curries well. The BBQ is good; I loved the Tiger Tearless BBQ beef. Green and red curries are yummy. A few vegetarian options. The soups are good, though a beak was left in a piece of squid in my mixed seafood soup.
