Two sides of the story

by B. G.

I have been a patient at Allen Creek Family Dentistry for many years now and was approached by a staff member to look at this web site, read the reviews and if comfortable write an honest review myself. First of all, I have to say, there is always two sides of a story. I must say, I did get quite a laugh at the review about the RN that just claimed bankruptcy, got denied credit but expected the dental office to set up payment arrangements! I don't think that makes them uncaring, just smart. I have had dental work completed by all the dentists there (including Dr. Knapas, who is not there anymore) and each time its been good. There is a couple of staff members that have been there for as long as I have been going there, which is nice, and some newer faces as well. They are very easy going, knowledgeable and caring and from my experience, willing to assist the patients in anyway that's helpful. For those reading these reviews, don't believe what you read, give them a try and find out for yourself, I'm pretty sure you'll like what you find.

Thumbs up!

by L. M.

After calling around to several dental offices trying to get an appointment after breaking a tooth, I called Allen Creek Family Dentistry and was able to to get an appointment within a few hours. When I got to the dentist office I was immediately taken back. The gal who took the pictures was very good and gentle. The Dr. came in and was very thorough and explained to me all my options. When I went to make my next appointment the gal at the front desk went over my insurance with me and explained what they would pay and what I would have to pay. She also went over my prescriptions with me and how to take them. My experience at Allen Creek Family Dentistry was very pleasant and everyone, including the other patients, seemed very at ease with the staff. I have read the other reviews on this web site and can't believe they are talking about the same people. I give Allen Creek a thumbs up!

Would not recommend them to anyone

by P. Charlee K.

I am a mother of three. I was excited to have a dentist so close to home and not have to worry about traffic and paying babysitters for extra time traveling to and from. I arrived and was not greeted until 10 minutes later after the receptionist/hygenist got off the phone talking to someone about the foreclosure of her home. I had just started on my paperwork and they took me back and were about to start working on me without looking at my history. I left and scheduled another visit at another place.

Three strikes... they are out!

by Ryan M.

Strike one:
I had gone in the office for an unexpected problem with some work that they had done. Two of the staff were having a little spat. They were arguing in front of everyone and one of them even swore at the other. Next, they start calling and involving their husbands in the dispute, even saying if they (us in the 8x8 lobby) dont like it, they can go somewhere else. Meanwhile, the patients were being ignored. When I finally was able to speak with someone, they refused to tell me how much it was going to cost for them to repair my tooth. To my dismay, none of the dentist stepped in to stop the show that these so called women were putting on.

Strike two:
So, I had to return in order to finish my appointment. I decided to give the whole team the benefit of the doubt and hoped that the dentist/owners had corrected the poor behavior of their subordinates. When I stepped in, the assistant behind the counter (one of the previously mentioned ladies) was on the phone arguing with one of her personal bill collectors. She left the bill on the counter with WTF? written in big bold letters. I was stuck waiting until the dentist actually came out and got me.

Strike three:
The dentist who worked in my teeth was actually a real nice guy and the hygienist was very personable. Unfortunately, the dentist had messed up a simple repair that I have had performed on one of my teeth about every five years. His first repair only lasted about eight months. By trade, I am attentive to the materials and manufacturing processes. I had pointed out that two previous dentist spent a lot more time curing the material during the repair. Unfortunately, he didnt take me seriously and proceeded to actually cause more damage to the tooth. He also took no responsibility for his work and I was forced to pay over two hundred dollars. Less than a year later, the repair failed again. Admittedly, it is a tough repair, but considering all of the other ordeals that I have had, my confidence in both the abilities and integrity of the entire staff has completely waned.

Great place...

by lisa r.

I have a bit of anxiety (who doesn't) about going to the dentist. This place made me feel so completely comfortable. I read some of the other reviews and it's hard to believe some of the complaints because they were so thorough with me. I had around 20 ex-rays done and when I went back to have the work done he was very patient and took his time to explain everything. When I was there they said because of a cancellation I could have more work done since I was already numbed up and cancel my next appointment. I told them I would , but I didn't have the money up front. They said no problem that I could do a post dated debit. They have been the best dentist I've ever went to and I would reccomend them to anyone.

UNETHICAL & UNCARING DENTAL OFFICE

by Deborah W.

01/23/08 I just returned from a "dental emergency" appointment. I've been off work for 3 1/2 mo on short-term disability and I have dental insurance through my employer. I just declared bankruptcy after a bad divorce and I'm fairly new to Marysville. I need a root canal and I'm in severe pain. This office refused to treat me since I was unable to pay cash up front and was denied on a credit application in their office. As allowed by insurance plan xrays were obtained (only 2 lateral) and evidence of my dental disaster was in plain view. "Here's a prescription for an antibiotic and a narcotic for pain. This will buy you time while you figure out how to prepay." I started to cry, not just because my tooth felt like it was exploding in my head, or the fact my lack of credit or money was preventing emergency treatment but for the fact the office manager sat in the waiting room discussing my situation in front of another patient. Clearly a HIPAA violation!!! This was a horrible experience! If a person with a medical emergency goes to the hospital they can not be refused treatment due to inability to pay. ALLEN CREEK FAMILY DENTISTRY refused to let me set up a payment plan. I told them I was returning to work this very weekend. I have a great paying job at Swedish Medical Center as a RN. This was not enough to sway them. I deem these "professionals" are only in the dental field for the money. The motto "DO NO HARM" doesn't apply to dentistry.

all they care about is money

by david k.

as the title states allen creek is nothing but a money monger, i had 2000 bucks worth of work done there on one tooth, im not complaining about that, tho i should considering they wouldnt let me leave till i had someone come down and pay it all at once. but what happened was in the process of giving me a crown lengthening they exposed a what was left of a wisdom tooth, a couple weeks later the tooth came fully exposed with a fresh hole in the side, i hurt like hell actualy made me vomit and pass out. so i went back, face swollen tooth bleeding gums abscessed.
it was bad, they turned me away becouse i couldnt pay up front, on my way home the pain started again, shot through me like a gun shot, but worse. (ive been shot) and i blacked out wrecking my car.
thank you allen creek family, you suck. as the dentist you take home plenty of cash, i guess like a football player once you go pro. you lose all heart.
unless you want to get robbed id stay away from ACFD

Find A Different Dentist

by northboundmama S.

Thought this needed a more recent review:My one and only visit to this office will NOT be repeated.Went in for removal of roots,as the crown had broken off. The Dr on duty was not the one my son had recommended, and was frankly brutal.I am no wimp when it comes to dental work, but after the 3 shots to my jaw, I was shaking so badly that I couldn't even sign the papers they gave me! I was supposed to have been given a follow-up appt to have the stitches removed;when asked, they said there was nothing in my file indicating he had used stitches! To top things off, my pymnt was never processed, until I called to ask why it never showed up on my account! They assured me they would run it as we were speaking. As the title states: I am definitely going elsewhere for my dental needs.

Clean, Friendly, Quality Dentistry

by Jennifer T. | insider Insider | Rank: 19,819

My husband and I have been going here for over a year now.

My husband said that this is the first dentist where he's had a filling that didn't bother him at all afterwards!

Their staff is great, and it's great to see the same people every time I go.

I like to go to a dentist where the staff isn't changing all the time - tells me they have happy employees, and happy employees means a better job!!

Their prices are excellent as well, and they really seem to care about being upfront & honest.

PROS: Friendly Staff, Great/Knowledgeable Dentists, Clean, Professional!
CONS: None!

great dental care!

by Robert Z. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 7,255

This is a great dentist and is a wonderful place to go for your dental needs. It is so hard to find a dentist you really trust, and it is great to know that the facility we are trusting our familys dental care is a good one.. That is why I am here to tell you about Allen Creek Dentistry located in Marysville, washington. This is one of the cleanest, most friendly dentists I have ever been to. I trust them completly with my own dental hygeine and would definatly refer afamily member to them. The staff is always there to answer any questions, and they are really great with working with the nervous patient.

PROS: patient staff
CONS: none

The Best

by Linda F. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 11,814

There are three doctors that rotate, at this practice and I think that that gives you a more rounded dental health service. I have had all three (plus a "filling-in-for") doctors and all have been caring and gentle (Which is a major point, for me!). The prices are great and they are more than willing to work with your insurance.
