As the owner of Washington Electric when one of my service vans goes down it??s a big deal. Each day that vehicle is out of service is lost revenue and somebody is sitting at home waiting to get back to work.
The Chevy Express with 79k miles started acting up on a Sat Evening at 7:30?.Wouldn??t go into 3rd gear or reverse. Instantly I knew a needed a professional to get it fixed.
I??ll be honest; I didn??t have a regular transmission shop that I had used in the past. I had some references to a three different shops. They were all closed for the weekend so I went online. The only shop that had very many reviews was ABC Transmission....I found about 25 on Google Places. I actually read almost all of them. There were a couple reviews that were bad, but all the rest were really good and many of them talked about how HONEST the shop was. One of the bad reviews didn??t even seem realistic, and by the time I was done reading I wanted to do business with these guys.
I had a full schedule for Monday, so on Sunday Evening still not having talked to anyone at ABC, I dropped the vehicle off at ABC and slipped my keys into the key drop with a note. Not having even been there before I felt better once I got there?.the building was nicely painted from front to back, top to bottom, there were uniforms hanging in a window, the shop floor was really clean, it seemed legit. I was a little nervous but I needed the vehicle running again soon.
I called first thing Monday and they got me in the same day for a diagnosis. It was not good news, but $3200 for a transmission on a Chevy Express was competitive, and they gave me some options to upgrade the transmission to prevent future problems. Robert was great to deal with, gave clear explanations of what I needed, why, and the exact costs. Their timeline was to be done by Thurs or Friday. I was super shocked to get a call from Mark (the owner) letting me know that the vehicle was done EARLY! The total bill was just what they told me it would be?no surprises. Since my schedule was difficult, they arranged for me to pick up the vehicle after hours, and again there were no problems. The vehicle is working great. I am super satisfied customer. I highly recommend these guys. Price is competitive, service was fantastic, honest work, I have full confidence that if there is any problem they will stand behind their work.
These guys delivered and get five stars. Thanks for making my problems go away

I??ll start with a caveat first. ABC did not do any actual work on my vehicle. However their customer service and honesty was so impressive that I will be knocking on their door if I ever do require transmission or clutch service in the future.

My background: I??m 55 years old and have done / know enough about auto repair to realize when I should try to do something on my own and when not to (thank goodness at least some wisdom comes with age?). I do quite a bit of research on any (new) business that I am going to deal with; read reviews, check Better Business Bureau, review a contractor??s license, etc. So I??d looked at a number of transmission repair places before even selecting ABC to contact.

My contact at ABC was Mark Lepkowski (Service Manager).

Now the rest of the story:

I was experiencing a howling noise when my 2006 Mini Cooper was first driven in morning. Soon as the car warmed up the noise retreated leaving that typical situation where you are standing there with a dumb look on your face while trying to tell a service tech ??but really, it was making this noise?.

I called ABC and they said drop on by and they would do a free of charge evaluation.

I did and they did. Took less than an hour?on a Saturday. BTW as mentioned earlier the noise ( of course) had disappeared by the time I reached ABC but their tech drove car for a time until his ??trained ear? and experience enabled him to identify issue and not leave me standing there like some sort of paranoid delusional- plus they put in paper floor mats to make sure they kept the car clean during the drive ?? nice attention to detail here folks.

Anyway they identified the probable issue as a pilot bushing and did some further research on the web and their proprietary websites. What they located on the web was an internal service bulletin from Mini detailing what I was experiencing with remarks that stated the issue should be repaired at no charge ??on a customer complaint basis??? Mark said ABC would be glad to provide a quote to replace all the items noted on the service bulletin however (and this is where it gets really good) he strongly suggested that (even though the vehicle was just out of warranty) I take bulletin to Mini and ask them to make the repair free of charge. ??Paying nothing is always better than paying something? is what Mark remarked. In addition to providing a copy of the service bulletin Mark gave me some suggestions on how to craft my request to the Mini dealership based on his experience in the business.

Even though there was (now) a reduced chance of ABC obtaining my business Mark went ahead and researched all the components and worked up a bid for me in the event Mini would not do the work. His bid ~ $2,300.00 (including tax) for all the items included in the bulletin was about the same price as a clutch replacement (only) from Mini so I was very satisfied with their bid. He broke out parts and labor and explained in detail how the pricing was arrived at. I also asked about going to a more heavy duty, aftermarket clutch and he provided some valuable insight as to what I would be dealing with, in the way of day to day driving, if I went that route. I opted for the standard components to be used based on his input and the fact I??m 55 years old and my street racing days are far behind me.

All good stories have a happy ending (IMHO) and mine is that after explaining my case to the Mini service folks they agreed to replace the clutch and other components free of charge. It was very, very, very (did I mention very?) helpful having the background information, Mark had supplied, to help me make my case. I came in prepared and knowledgeable which I believe made all the difference.

ABC could have provided me a quote and done the work without telling me about the bulletin. They could have even told me about the bulletin and pointed out the car was out of warranty. They could have done a variety of things but what they did do was the right thing. This experience had reaffirmed for me that there are still some people that you can trust and ABC is one of them.

I did a lot of research in looking to get the transmission in my 1990 Ford Probe rebuilt. ABC knew the model well, and did a complete rebuild. But the service after was outstanding. I had a few minor problems, and they thoroughly made good on everything while accommodating me every step of the way. You find out more about a place during these circumstances, and they are the best-- honest, reliable and helpful. I live 50 miles away and would not go anywhere else!

I took my Honda to this place - They were very friendly. The shop was very messy. They rebuilt my transmission, and I am not sure all my parts were put back in my car. They didn't meet the deadline, but offered me a rental car discounted. When I finally got my car back, the transmission failed again - of course they stood behind their work, but I was not impressed. I'm not sure the pricing is competitive either. I would shop around if you can.

I just picked my car up yesterday. We have used them for years and they have always been reliable and HONEST. My car was repaired on time, as always. The price was under their estimate and $1000 dollars below other estimates we received!

When our newer aerostar started having transmission problems and slipping we took it here. We have had some bad experiences with transmission work before so we were skepticel. They were amazing. They did what they told us in the beginning for a little under the estimated price... That seems rare now days. They were really great with explaining what was wrong and making sure we knew. It is a great place to go for yout transmission
