They have tons of stuff! Rich people get rid of brand-name clothes that are lightly used and they end up here. You have to dig, but it is worth it. Nice jeans, slacks selection.

I've gotten quite a few things at Deseret over the years, including furniture, children's toys, (new) bedding, and a wide variety of clothing and shoes. They're usually well stocked with children's shoes in a variety of styles. The place is clean and large, with nice dressing rooms that even lock on the inside (!).

Cons: Not open on Sundays, for obvious reasons. :-)
Also, the (new) bedding I bought there turned out to be really poor quality, but what did I expect for such a cheap price?
Finally, the salespeople I've encountered there seem very young, inexperienced, and typically not fluent in English, so they're usually not available to answer complicated questions or hold your hand through your shopping.

If you have an eye for quality and some time, Deseret Industries will reward you.

While they do have a mix of items.. low end, and nice stuff.. I ebay, and have found a couple worthwhile items.. I have founs some nice store overrun donations to be quite worthwhile.. I have found some nice clothes, as new, with tags still on.. I find show clothes for $H kids, and have founs some nice jackets.. However ften there are items with no price tags here..
Plan on some time, and poking around.

Deseret Industries is a community sevice to give people from difficult backgrounds (poverty, disabilities) a chance to get job experience. The service might not be the best, but by shopping there you give people a chance to get back on their feet. Great for childrens books and used toys.

Pros: Good price on used books

Cons: organization

.

most staff is okay -some hierarchy rude to both staff & customers-merchandise okay but overpriced. they think they are antique dealers for the most ordinary things

Pros: lots of stuff and decent clothes

Cons: high prices on anything they think is vintage

.

I'm sorry, but this place is not very well organized and overprices its used merchandise. Employees are not very well informed or courteous. I'm not coming back.

Deseret is a large fancy thrift store that is willing to carry junk unlike a lot of its competitors. Donated valuables and antiques get auctioned monthly. The sales are sometimes really really good, which you don't see very often in large thrift stores anymore. They have a 50% and 75% color tag. PLEASE NOTE that they are getting in many donated store returns, which have a 95% chance of something being wrong with them. So paradoxically if it looks NEW than it's probably bad.

Deseret Industries has everything you need and lots of what you just can’t live without. We have thousands of new items arriving every day, like clothes, household goods, even furniture. But we also have tons of other treasures like collectibles, toys and games. And if you don’t find what you’re looking for today, come back tomorrow. Our sales floor is always being replenished.
