Mali Thai is the best Thai restaurant that I've ever been to. I gauge every Thai joint by their signature Pad Thai dish and Mali Thai takes the cake. Other amazing dishes include their Red Curry, Garlic Chicken, and Swimming Ramma. The food is consistently good and you always know what to expect when you go here with great prices. If you could somehow box up their food and market it to the world you would collide with millions upon millions of dollars. Trust me on this one.

I have been to many Thai restaurants in the Puget sound area and Mali Thai is our hands-down favorite. Consistently xcellent food, good portion sizes, great food, quick and friendly service, great food, creative atmosphere, and did I mention really good food? Whether dining with just the wife and myself, or with a large group, they have always treated us right. Mali Thai is one of the few restaurants that serve Angel Wings, and they do it the best. Who would have thought a great Thai restaurant would be located between Red Robin and a Best Buy? I hope this place stays around for many years to come.

Pros: Fantastic food, excellent service, nice atmosphere

Cons: A little hard to find the first time

Their red curry is the best! I also like their cashew chicken. Their staff is always very pleasant but always very rushed. (Probably just because it's always busy during lunch and dinner.) It's well worth the visit. The only thing I wish they had was a bigger place!

I cannot praise Mali Thai enough --- not only is their food the best Thai food around the Puget Sound I know, I also believe their service is excellent. The vegetables are fresh and crisp, the spices very fragrant without being overpowering, and the presentation just beautiful. Substitutions have never been a problem, and I don't think you can beat the price (+ get quality food for it). I used to go there at least once a week (trust me, the food is addictive) and never was disappointed. Even my daughter, who is usually not a big fan of Thai food, insists that I take home a dish for her whenever I go. I miss that I'm no longer able to go there on a regular basis and haven't found anything as good as Mali Thai in the South Puget sound area. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I always received very courteous and friendly service, and the staff still welcomes me and remembers my name on the few occasions that I have a chance to stop by.

I have been to a few Thai restaurants, and I generally go by the recommendations of those who are of Thai descent. This restaurant was a great recommendation from our Thai friend. Those who tout knowing good Asian cuisine are often misled by their very own egos and cannot critique Asian restaurants because they weren't raised on Asian food. Get it? So ignore those other reviews on this page. I took 6 other friends (their first time) and they were very impressed. The service was awesome, the prices were more than reasonable (at McD's you get a full meal for about $6.50 now), and of course, the food is healthier than any fast food restaurant. The average meal is about $7.20 at this restaurant. There are enough cooks and waitresses making your wait time reasonable. When our party was finished eating, we sat and talked for a few minutes more, forgetting there were other patrons waiting for a table. The waitresses were very kind and left us to visit. Go to this restaurant today and see what you think!

I like this place a lot: great food, service is fast and friendly but not TOO friendly, decent prices, fun atmosphere. I've never had any problems with the service, but i can see why a lot of reviewers are saying it's horrible because it seems like the girls are all related (family-run) and still foreign (i.e. broken english). The ambience is exotic and matches the food so i really like it. I come here often, but if you want same great food and quality but better service, try Simply Thai, there are 2 very nearby.

The food is really good, and is served in good time, but the server was a snob. I have been here a few times, and in my opinion the thai food is the best in the area. The kitchen and dining areas are fully staffed, so you can have promt service. But like I said, the server was a snob. I gave it another try a few days later, and the server was still a snob. Not going back, unless calling in an order to go.

I love the food, and the service has been good every time I have eaten there. I nearly always substitute something in a dish because I don't like mushrooms or eggplant. They never, ever have a problem with it and are always happy to add whatever I want in place of those items. Someone said their lunch was expensive at $7 a plate, which I think is a great price for excellent food. A value meal at fast food restaurants cost $6!!

My friend and I have gone to Mali Thai twice now and I can honestly say that they have the worst service ever. Especially the second time I went there, after finishing eating, we very courteously asked for out check and the rude waitress said to us, "WAIT." This incredibly rude waitress told us in such a condescending and offending way that we left in anger. The food may taste great but the waitress' rudeness made it completely not worth it.

My family now goes there for all special occasions. We have had groups of around 12. Great service even when they are busy. They really make over the kids and will get you whatever you ask for (if they have it). I am allergic to rice and they have some delicioius noodle dishes. My favorite has crispy fried garlic over the top. Very economical and large portions. We are always taking leftovers home. My son in law is Thai and this is where we go.

I've had several dinners here, and they were all delicious -- especially the seafood! The tom yum had a rich soup filled with plump seafood: scallops, prawns. I had a special with fried prawns & fish, with a sweet sauce & tarter sauce for dipping, not very authentic -- but deliciously crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. The phad thai is sweet, the way it should be, but the quantity is a little less than what I wanted. The lunch specials are definitly worth a try, the cashew nut chicken is moist and tastey, but not cheap at $7. The service was fine, and the environment is relaxing with dim lights and a nice decor of bamboo. If there isn't a selection of sauces at your table, make sure to ask for fish and chilli sauce -- a few drops add ten points to every rice meal!

The food here is not authentic Thai food as the place proclaims it to be. The food is not that great. The pad thai is to sweet for my taste buds and the chicken, fish, and meat have a bad aroma to it. I think this establishment ads a bit of msg to their food. The service is great, but the food is below average in my book.

One of my favorite lunch times places to eat, Mali Thai is a hidden treasure. The service is great and very friendly. It's a very relaxing and intimate setting to enjoy a very flavorful meal. At lunch, they serve a free soup or salad. Try the garlic chicken lunch special. The garlic is not overpowering and the cilantro adds a nice finishing touch to the dish. The pad thai is a little too sweet for my taste though. Other favorites are Satay chicken and Cashew Chicken.

I think it's one of the best Thai restaurants I've ever tried and believe me I've tried lots of them. I just adore their Phad Thai and their BBQ chicken, it's just delicious. Their Phad Thai has a very unique taste not like any other Phad Thai I've tasted. The first time I tried Mali Thai and I ordered the Phad Thai, it looked different from the other Phad Thai's I've seen. But once i tried it, it was delicious! Everyone there is very friendly. Once my family and I walk through that door, we are greeted and shown to our table. Someone whose shown friendliness to me and my family would have to be Penny. She is very nice and sometimes after we're done eating she gives us ice cream! I highly recomend this restaurant as your next stop to experience a somewhat journey to Thailand.

I love the service here! I made reservation for a family birthday dinner and the waitress, Penny, decorated the table with balloons and banners for us without me even asking! The food is also very good. Try their pineapple fried rice! It is not soggy and salty like some other place. It is just perfect in texture and seasoning. I aslo like their papaya salad, but the thai style is better. The shrimp is sooooo good! IT is big and lightly cripy, without being fried! This is the first resturant that I have been to does this to their shrimp, and I have been to more than a dozen Thai resturants. You should definately give this place a try!!!!!!!!!! Great service and good food!! What else can you ask for?
