We have a warm & inviting Shabby Chic interior that will keep you coming back. Stop in for your daily caffeine where we proudly serve Fonte Coffee with our fresh baked scones and Cinnamon rolls. Stay for breakfast or brunch and have a Hi Spot Specialty French Brioche Toast with almond butter and pure maple syrup. Don't forget the fresh squeezed orange or grapefruit juice or a Madrona Mimosa. If you can't make it early stop by for a specialty salad or sandwich for lunch including the Grilled Caprese & Grilled Chicken Sandwiches. In the spring and summer enjoy all we have to offer on our Euro Style patio.

The Scene
This is one of Seattle's premier breakfast spots, but the cozy atmosphere translates well into afternoon, with fresh flowers and candlelight illumating the pale dining room. Speedy servers cart platters of cheese-baked eggs and massive cinnamon rolls throughout the converted Victorian home for crowds of eager diners.

The Food
Most of the staples are safe bets, but the daring diner should order the Bengal Benedict: This variation on the classic pairs poached eggs with a velvety curry that works wonderfully. The three-egg breakfast burrito usually requires a to-go box. The lunch menu features classics like Reubens, melts and a good grilled veggie sandwich.

Food and atmosphere

by Tony D. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,450

The Hi Spot cafe serves a number of delicious and distinctive breakfasts in an excellent atmosphere. During the summer the outdoor seating is a particular winner. The cafe can get quite busy, although service is always relatively quick. Expect to wait for seating on weekends.

PROS: distinctive menu, atmosphere
CONS: busy

Delicious food, great service!

by Sara G. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,051

This little place has delicious breakfasts, at a moderate price. There is usually a wait, but there's a front area with tiny tables and a coffee bar, where you can sit down and slurp a beverage before you're seated.

I think what I like most about this place is the location and the building. I love the Madrona neighborhood - it's small but has tons of character; feels almost like it's a small town. But the building that the restaurant is in is really cool, it's like a very small house that's been revamped, tables are squished into a 2nd floor area, but it still has a very comfortable homey feel. Oh, did I mention the food is delicious?!

PROS: Wonderfully tasty food, neat location.
CONS: Can be a bit of a wait, count on one in on a weekend day.

THE BEST BREAKFAST you will find east of I-5 in Seattle. This restaurant is hands down amazing. The atmosphere compliments the food; the restaurant is located in a turn of the century home in the heart of the community of Madrona. There is also outdoor seating in the spring and summer in the garden along the sidewalk. Be sure and try the green eggs and ham!

Close to fantastic Breakfast

by cadby

The most important part of the breakfast was excellent...Green Eggs and Ham (Scrambled eggs with Mozzarella, pesto and Ham) were spot on, and my brides Breakfast Burrito delivered the goods. The remaining star is withheld due to cold potatoes and cold toast...OUCH. And, while the service was caring, it was obvious that our server was taxed with too many tables creating an apologetic but slow breakfast.
We REALLY wanted to like Hi Spot but in the end it was Kinda Hi-Spot for us.

I only have one thing to say. Ask for Greg! He is so nice, everything else falls into place. The food speaks for itself!

Pros: Feels like your at someones home

Cons: parking, but this is Seattle! walk a block or two already!

Great breakfast!

by seattleite28

I don't go out to breakfast much, so breakfast places are memorable to me-- good or bad. The Hi Spot is one of the good. There were 8 of us who got there around 8am (when it opens) and although we each ordered something different and the food all came at the same time, and service was pleasant and prompt. Most importantly though, the food was delicious. The pancake I ordered was crisp on the outside and soft and fluffy in the middle (no rubber discs here!) and the scones are delicious- I had to get 2 to-go!!

Best Brunch Date Spot

by karenloria

First I must gush about the food... the omelets are stuffed to the brim and over flowing with only the best ingredients (try the northwest omelet), the potatoes are hearty, perfectly seasoned, and never leave a grease pit on your plate, and the side of toast that comes with just about every plate on the menu consists of thick slices of Seattle?s most whole some artisan breads.

Despite the constant line formed in the foyer cafe, the services is always quick, courteous and more than happy to customize your order. I particularly like being offered a scone or muffin while waiting in the cafe for a table.

Pros: Cute Madrona spot for a brunch date.
