Bayview Building Materials

Bayview Building Materials is a great place to purchase your project needs. The staff are knowledgeble and courteous. I found the pricing to be competetive with other places that carry quality goods. I would highly reccommend this locally owned business for your cabinets,windows,doors,lumber,tools, hardware.....The service is superior to Home Depot and every other like business in the area.
I want to add that it seems like some of the negative remarks look like a disgrunled shoplifter or someone that is out for some kind of revenge wrote them.
I have always had great customer service at Bayview.

I have been a contractor customer of Bayview for 3 years. I have had nothing but good experiences in my dealings with them. Prices have been fair, product quality high, deliveries have been prompt, and errors have been handled swiftly and professionally.

Better lumber than Home Depot or Lowes, but who doesn't have better lumber than them. 1st and foremost, their management are crooked liars, they do not treat their good employees (the guys in their upper yard and deliveries) with dignity or respect.
Then there are the employees that are not decent (pretty much everyone else) The "women in the office" are gossiping people who will smile and then as soon as you leave the room they talk nasty behind your back. The people in the "hardware and takeoff areas are complacent, lazy, shovenistic, and the manager of the place encourages this. If you do not fall into their little morning chatter and gossip or god forbid have a mind to speak for yourself they will crusify you. They play games with their pricing, they price special order items based on who you are or are not. Generally not much on the shelf has a price tag on it, and if it does it will not be current. (which I beleive is illegal) Beware you shoppers out there, they will screw you over any chance they get. Beware that your business name is not associated with them, their reputation will bring you down a few notches, which no one in this economy needs.

Bayview Building Materials is a good old fashioned lumber yard. Not only can you feel confident with a fair price and selection, but the service is top notch with many of the employees being extremely knowledgeable having worked there for over a decade. From management, front counter yardmen and accounting office, your needs seem to be there number concern. Although they have stock at hand, they will also go out of there way to special order you any item no matter what inconvenience. As for the previous comment about Mr. Sage, I can only say good things about his demeanor and how he conducts business. I would strongly recommend this company to anyone looking to buy building materials

Every morning its the same old, old men hanging out when they don't have any work to do. They are like a bunch of old women with nothing to do. Contractors hang out there every morning and gossip. If you want good business and professional help go somewhere else. I would not recommend their services. If you want gossip and old men that have nothing better to do this is the place!

For more than 25 years my company has supplied building materials to Bayview and worked hand in hand with the salesmen and Rick Sage, the manager. We would recommend Bayview to builders and homeowners, alike. They have quality products and a knowledgeable staff who will go the extra mile to take care of their customers. All companies make errors, but I find that Rick and his crew make very few errors and immediately fix the ones that happen. Perhaps the person who wrote such a bad review contributed to his own problems. I have never seen what he claims in his posting.
As far as other yards in Olympia, they all work very hard to get and keep customers. They all have quality employees and good products. Mostly, you need to feel comfortable with your supplier and pay your bills on time! Then all will go well wherever you shop.
Bayview Building Materials was owned by and still operates under the leadership of Robert Bush, a WWII Congressional Medal of Honor winner. He passed down his ethic and his personal business qualities to his son, Mick, who now owns Bayview. Olympia is fortunate to have such a quality business in its town.

I am a long time customer of Bayview Lumber. They have always been a great company to deal with. The prices are fair and the service is what sets them apart. They truly go out of their way to make the customer happy, and get the customer what they want when they want it. I would recommend them to any businessman or company that wants to do business with someone that will aid them in their success.

bayview building materials of olympia is crooked, and will take advantage of someone who does not know the going prices of building materials or supplys. I once went there to pick up a tear off shovel, they had only one with no price tag, so I went to ask how much, they said,"60 bucks" for a lack of time I offered 40 bucks and they accepted." thanks," they normaly run 25 bucks. God bless americans.

Bayview Building Materials of Olympia is not a great place to buy your building materials for many reasons. First reason being they use old technology in their store and their computers are extremely outdated making any business with them extremely unsatisfactory and difficult to preform. In many occasions I have had my orders screwed up by them which in the long run cost me money. They only have a fleet of three trucks and was told soon then would have four trucks operating again. With only 3-4 trucks operating it is always hard to say when you will get your building materials. In many cases I have had to wait up to 4 days till I received my products. I will say it again, time is money, and waiting that long in any situation can make anyone hot under the collar, especially if you yourself have a boss. Bayview will make deliveries into Portland Oregon and even far north of Washington, and I suspect that reason is why many deliveries are late, and with deadlines always being abused, the product you ordered and payed for might not be what is delivered to you. I could go on but wont. Overall the President of Bayview of Oly, Rick Sage himself is a obnoxious liar and in many cases he has swindled myself and others into loosing money due to many reasons, but the biggest reason being lack of being able to properly run a company. Bayview Building Materials of Olympia started off as a small company and after many years remains a small company and I do not recommend buying your products from them. Do what I did, go down the street to Tanglewild Lumber where their staff are true professionals, their technology is more up to date meaning less mistakes being made, and a real friendly environment.

Bayview Building Supplies has a great selection
of a lot of things but especially lumber. Not sure
why there's is different but they seem to have
better quality lumber than the local bigger
outlets.
