Greenwood ELDC is a great, caring place and has been for 4 years for our two boys. The teachers are so nice and professional, and our boys have thrived there. The current director, Lisa, is really good. We have met several wonderful families there, and are sad to see my oldest son's class graduate and go off to different kindergarten classes.

Both of my children have attended and thrived at this facility. My oldest in now in first grade and made the transition from ELDC to kindergarten without missing a beat. My youngest has been there since before he could walk and is not in Unit 3. His skills are all well advanced due to the care he receives there. The staff is attentive and talented and genuinely cares about the kids. We've had a number of them babysit for us. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this facility to anyone who wants their children in a safe, loving and educational environment.

Please, please, please do NOT send your child to the Greenwood ELDC. Unsanitary conditions, a surly "Director" who will yell at you (seriously) if you question any of their policies, poorly trained staff (one of whom actually told us she would never send her own children there), and no apparent curiculum. They take "play-based" to the extreme, leaving the children largely unattended for hours at a time, during which they are expected to entertain themselves with no direction and a dearth of toys. Fights regularly break out and there is zero leadership. Finding child care in Seattle is extremely tough, but if you can, go anywhere but here.

The Greenwood location of ELDC is NAEYC-certified, but this location in Broadview is not. Still, we've found it a very good daycare for our two daughters. They provide cloth diapers, breakfast lunch and snacks, enriching activities, and even field trips for the older kids. There is an involved parent board that puts on a summer barbecue, a winter holiday party, ground cleanup parties, and other functions. The building is small, which makes it loud during the day, but it is clean. It is very affordable, with extensive hours every day and flexible scheduling. They allow you to book only one day per week, which is usually not offered by preschools in this area.

My older child had a great experience in the "Unit 2" class, but less so in "Unit 3." She tested into a special blended preschool program at a local elementary school, and so we took her out of ELDC. Our younger child is still in the "Unit 1" classroom and loves it.

I would recommend ELDC to anyone. My son has been going since he was 18 mo.. We are coming up on our 1yr anniversary. The staff are all very warm and friendly. Lots of cultural diversity. I find it hard to believe that any child was "battered" as the last person commented. The staff are all well educated in Early child dev. and there is a lot of open communication. The director is also very approachable. They provide warm meals and diaper service as part of the tuition, which is by the way quite reasonable for the Seattle area. There is a good ratio of teachers to children. And I believe that they are NAEYC certified.

Unfortunately, our child was a bit battered here and the staff seem unequipped to deal with the problem. We liked this place a lot when we first went: one of the few with part-time availability, prorated costs, family events (really nice), preschool program (also rare) for little ones -- ages 2,3,4. Also very multicultural. Unfortunately, the injured child was deal breaker.

For those who have children and you have
to work for a living, Early Childcare is
the best place for them. They have a
lot of programs that teach your child.
Our kids love it.
