We went there last night..we waited 15 minutes before someone asked if we had been helped.. I said no and they then came and sat us at our table. Ok..we got of food etc.. all was well. Our bill was 40.00 and some change.. so I left a 6.00 time..I usually leave 20% but we waited to long to get seated..and they were not busy.. just hanging around texting on her phone. I just looks at my credit card account and the waitress had ajusted the amount of the charge. She had added 2.00 extra bucks on the tip part..I know 2.00 is nothing but I can not believe she had the balls to do that. I will contact the resturant today..j

Oh boy, I really wanted to like this place. Its cute and close to my home. I have eaten there 3 times, two times for lunch and once for breakfast.

When I was there for breakfast I had french toast, scrambled eggs, and sausage links. I also got a "large" milk, which was only about 8 ounces and I was charged about $2.50 for the milk!! The breakfast was good, but my final bill was about $18 for JUST ME.
To make it worse, when I read my credit card statement there was an extra dollar added to my final bill. I know this is the case because I saved my bill from that day since I was so appauled I just spent that much money for breakfast.

The other 2 times I had lunch, once a hamburger and the other time was chicken strips.
Neither were anything great.

Pros: Great Breakfast

Cons: Not so great lunch

Seriously - sooooo good. Standard diner/cafe food but with a fresh, comfort feel to it. They make their own salsa - they should jar it and sell it! Sometimes the service may not be prompt due to how busy they are, but the staff is always attentive and friendly.

We went here base don the reviews and the location. We'll be going back based on the burgers, the beer, the fires and the salad. The staff is/was very nice. Very cool retro-vibe on the inside, and the front patio is very entertaining.

If you like mucis from the 30's to the 70's then try out their 1958 jukebox or check out the metal lunch boxes hanging from the ceiling or bring the kids to see the batmobile. A part of history for everyone. If you order a omelet you need to tell them how you want it piled, hobo or omelet style. It's great that they serve breakfast all day long at very affordable prices. Oh yea check out the milkshakes!!

If your in West Seattle and want a good place to take the kids for a meal this is it. These days it's hard to find a kid friendly restaurant. The atmosphere is casual and so is the staff. Basically just a good family restaurant.

Fun atmosphere, like a fifties diner with individual juke boxes at every table. The wait staff all have kind of a punk vibe and are always attentive, helpful and johnny on the spot. I consider myself a burger afficiando and was totally blown away by the burgers at Luna Park, get a hand dipped milkshake to go with it and you are set. This is an excellent place for a weekend breakfast as well.

Recently tried Luna Park with a big group of friends and it was fantastic! The food was wonderful and the servers were extremely accomodating to our large group. Friendly and fun, it really made our experience wonderful. The place kind of looks like a museum, lots of memorabilia to gawk at. The breakfast was so delicious, we can't wait to try the lunch menu! We'll put it on the top of our list to return.

I've been to Luna Park Cafe numerous times for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner and l LOVE it.
The food is great and the staff is very friendly.

Recently I read a review about Luna Park that was a COMPLETE LIE!
Usually I take criticism with a great deal of acceptance and refer to it as opinion, however, this particular review struck a chord with me.
I had to check this out for myself.
Please read the other reviews and you will find the one that I am talking about.
More importantly, you will find that people regard Luna Park as great restaraunt, with great food and an awesome environment.

Everytime I am there, the service is great. I've never had to go into the "waitress area"
but after reading the review, i made it a mission to step into the area in question to see for myself any inderlying characteristics.
What did I see when I got there? Nothing of consequence, merely the staff doing their jobs.
One person was at the register putting in an order, another thru a window chopping ingredients, and one cooking.
What I DID NOT SEE, nor have I ever, was a dishwasher that was not presentable, nor a garden hose to speak of.
I personally have never had a dirty dish at Luna Park, however I know that they are not a myth.
But I can assure you that no member of the staff would ever knowingly present you with a smudged fork or crusty plate. and in the event that it did happen I KNOW that they would gladly oblige you with a replacement.

I have to say, Ms. Patricia, it seems that you have a grudge against Luna Park.
Your review was completely void of fact.
I can only hope that your appearent smear campaign has fallen on deaf ears.

To the readers of these reviews, Luna Park Cafe is a great place.
The history, the memorabilia, the staff and the food are truly exceptional.
A "do not miss" part of the Seattle experience.
I'm sure you will find this for yourself.

Enjoy!

Went there friday for lunch, and i went to the waitress area to ask her for a clean fork, (who was really sweet actually, and the food wasn't bad either).

Upon turning around to go back to my table i witnessed a somewhat scary looking middle aged dishwasher spraying off a bunch of dishes with a garden hose!! and i saw they have the normal hot sprayer that dishwashers use sitting there untouched.

it grossed me out so bad that i couldn't finish my meal. i tipped the waitress for the good service, and at that point i didn't even tell her what i saw. but man that is gross, and he had the worst and scariest hygiene of a person i've seen in awhile! AND NO WONDER MY FORK HAD SOMEONE ELSES CRUSTY FOOD ON IT!!

they need to clean the place up. it has been a favorite lunch place of mine for years. i won't be back for awhile now.

stopped by for brunch before sightseeing. we each had either a hobo or a pile - pretty accurate descriptions, i must say. the bacon was just right and the hash browns not soggy or overcooked. toast and jam was pretty good, too. service was a bit dodgy, but we were sitting outside on the patio on a sunny, breezy day, so it wasn't that bad. would like to try it again for lunch or dinner, the burgers and milkshakes sounded yummy!

Inside, the Luna Park Cafe is full of diner-era antiques throughout... old metal signs, functional neon displays and a working jukebox. There's plenty to look at while you dine on a quality breakfast or lunch. The burgers are made with juicy flavorful patties and the vegetables are fresh, crunchy, and delicious. Milkshakes and sundaes are make with hand-dipped ice cream and are worth a try if your diet allows. Outdoor dining is available and it definitely helps during the busy times, as the cafe is not large inside. There's only five or six parking spots next to the cafe, so expect to look for street parking if you drive. There is a bus stop almost right across the street if you take the bus.

Whoever gave the bad reviews doesn't know what they're talkin about! I drive all the way from ISSAQUAH just go here. Best chicken burgers on the West Coast (Especially the Works). The juke box is always dishing out great tunes, the staff are awesome and friendly, and the burgers are to die for. Inexpensive, positive atmosphere, all around great place where the staff remembers you when you walk in. A+++++

If you're looking for a genuine ecclectic and unique eating experience in Seattle, you have to hit up the Luna Park Cafe near Alki. This little "mom & pop" restaurant is filled with forgotten lore of the amusement park that was once situated in the Alki Beach area. You'll find metal lunch boxes hanging along the wall, an authentic 50s batmobile children's ride, an automated fortune teller, and many more visually stimulating decorations. On top of that, the food is decent is the prices are average. The coffee isn't particularly strong, but the milk shakes (lots of flavors) are wonderful. They usually have daily specials on soups and breakfast items. It can be busy at times, but the ambience is worth the wait.

I don't know what kind of crack the other reviewers are smoking, the service was great. The only problem is the place is small so don't expect quick seating. The inside is very eclectic and has a nice retro 50's feel. The waitstaff was very friendly and nice. The food was tastey. I had a great experience.

Some of these other reviews are bogus. Go and have a blast in the retro decor and pick up some great pancakes and coffee while you are there. Don't go if you're looking for classy dining or well-trained service. This is a basic joint but a good friendly neighborhood place. I plan to return on all future trips to Seattle. (out of stater)

Upon entering the Luna Park Cafe, you wonder either marvel at the eclectic decor or recoil in horror. But wait! If you love nostalgia, there's something for everyone, from the walls and ceilings, to the staff, and right down to the jukebox. Breakfasts are my favorite: They're generous and excellent, pretty much no matter what you order. If you're with a breakfast party of 2 or more, be prepared to wait. It's a neighborhood favorite!

This kitschy, family-friendly cafe sports a classic '50s menu and nostalgic decor, including a working jukebox. The cafe serves breakfast all day long; if you're seeking something else, be forewarned that the burgers and deli sandwiches…
