We made the trip to watch the Super Bowl this year and had a great experience.

The saloon and dining areas have LCD screens in every corner, so it's a great place to watch a game. The server we had was friendly and kept our glasses full.

The food was ok. ok. Nothing great. We ordered wings and nachos and they got the job done. After having gone to college in Western New York State we're pretty accustomed to excellent wings. Nickerson came as close as we have found for good wings in Seattle.

The beer and tap selection was wide and varied. Prices are a little high for a happy hour or game special, but not bad compared to the hipster hangouts across the bridge in Fremont. Domestic microbrew draft was $4.25/pint and $14/pitcher.

My wife and I will certainly be back for happy hour.

Pros: Great place to unwind

Cons: (no surly hipsters?!)

Vibrant atmosphere, good beer and fabulous burgers. This bar a must visit. The only problem is parking when the place is really busy. Come prepared to have a fun time.

My sweetie had the wings which were so tasty and the meatiest I've ever seen. I usually hate skin but it was crispy the the most amazing way. We also shared the tastiest chicken and beef skewers- not over-cooked. I had the club sandwish- the bacon was meaty and crispy, the turkey fresh and yummy. I asked for a jus sauce for my fries which was flavoured with rosemary- incredible and creative! This is the most comfortable bar i've ever been in. Everyone is friendly- patrons and staff, a really neighborhood -ish feel. I even saw families with small kids at other tables.

Great local restaurant and bar. I have always had a great time here and have never been disappointed, which is a pretty big compliment seeing as I usually would show up with my softball team (at least 6+ people).

Pros: Good for big groups, great service, great food
Cons: None

Since moving into our new office on Nickerson Street we decided to make this Bar our happy hour spot. The food is great, spicey fries are awesome but the waitress we had last night was horrible. Rude, no personality, had a problem with my drink and it was the end of the world for her. We are hoping the next time we go she is not our server. Customer Service is what keeps people coming back and this place needs a new waitress.

Nickerson started sponsoring the local kickball league, and our team came over the Fremont bridge to find out what the place was like. It instantly became one of our favorite spots. They have a large patio for enjoying those summer days in the sun. It's easy to get seating for groups, and the service is very good. It's also fun to watch the Fremont bridge while you're dining.

My only suggestion is to add some more local beers, especially an IPA or something hoppy. Great place, and definitely worth the trip across the bridge. Parking is easier over there anyway.

This was an all around great experience for my first time at Nickerson St. Fabulous posters of great musicians, in a warm atmosphere could only be beat with on the spot, but breathing down your neck, super friendly, but not fake service. The food was served in a timely manner and definitely tasty, I had the Mediterranean plate and my friend had the chicken quesadilla from the happy hour menu and another had the blue light special pt roast. The only thing I would request would be more beers on tap (there were probably about 15)! All in all this was a fabulous evening of food, beer, friends and service and will definitely be returning, especially when the sun is out and we can sit outside!

Fun venue, attentive wait staff. Limited happy hour specials but the $1 basket of spicy fries is awesome! Was there three plus hours watching football and didn't feel rushed. The place got pretty packed. Dinner food was good, especially the carne asada steak sandwich on very fresh ciabatta rolls. Prices are average for Seattle bar and the menu is on their web-site. They have an outdoor patio, which might be fun in the summer. It backs Westlake and the bridge so not sure on noise level. Will definitely visit Nickerson again!

I would say that Nickerson Saloon is just one of those places where you feel welcome--and it is--but it is much, much more than that. This funky building houses a well-trained staff that are every bit as knowledgable as they are friendly, a four-star rotating selection of microbrews as well as a full bar, and one kick-butt kitchen that can whip out a wide range of foods including Indonesian chicken skewars; hand-rubbed carne asada sandwiches; chicken, corn and bean salad over greens; and Aunt Lucille's meatloaf. It's pub food but with flair and a little ingenuity.

On sunny days, you can't beat sitting out on the open-air deck, the sun going down behind you and Lake Union and the Freemont bridge in front (those of you lucky enough to get a table there for July fourth have found one of the civilized places to watch--and hear--the music and fireworks from Gasworks park), but the Nickerson Saloon is also a good place to spread out indoors, especially during those long winter evenings. Three different rooms, including one that allows minors, gives you a chance to stretch out your legs, relax with a port or cognac, and warm up with one of the two daily soups made from scratch. Oh yeah, and how about them Seahawks! The Nickerson is a superb place to go for sports. Just one of those places. Only much, much better.

Pros: Good food, good people, good value.

Cons: You may have to park a half a block away. If you're heading from South Lake Union, it may be difficult to figure out how to get in the lot.

I recently went the Saloon, and was quite amazed. I expected the Nickerson to be this neighborhood hangout, I found it was much more. I have always driven by the Nickerson on my way home to Fremont, and always watched cute guys/gals hanging outside. A few friends asked me to stop by after work one day, and everything was incredible. Thanks to the owners, who hire smart, nice people. The food was surprisingly out of this world, Gourmet food at average prices. My favorite was the Hummus platter which is served with Feta Cheese, wow! Ofcourse, any Saloon or hangout has to have great fries. The Nickerson has fresh potato fries, any one have those lately?

Pros: Food, People, Drinks--Great on the way home from work

Cons: Got Parking, you would think it doesn't have all the parking, but it sure does

All I gott say is this place is awesome! The food is great, big heafty portions which make great left-overs, great servers and fun environment. The outdoor patio is perfect for summer days, and the inside is clean, family friendly with warm reception. This is the kind of place that you always come back to, when you realize how good the food is, you will definatley be back for more!

I don't know what bar the negative reviewers went to but it was not my Nickerson Saloon. The service is great, all very friendly and professional. The "Beer of the Month" offers the customer a new beer experience as advertised. The patio is a welcome relief in the summer months and the food is always good. I bring all of my out of town friends to the Nickerson and have had no complaints. And they are open during the Fremont Bridge work, whoever wrote otherwise was wrong about that and a great many other things.

The Saloon is alive and well-perhaps better than ever. I was in last week and enjoyed a fine cocktail and conversation with friends on the patio. The interior has new flat screen tv's and the service was its typical friendly nature. A side note- my wife who rarely drinks, visits the saloon on a regular basis for the food. If you can get a woman and her friends into a saloon for the food you are getting more than a few things right!!!

Just a quick note The Saloon is not closed durring Fremont construction. It remains open seven days a week as it has been for the last 11 years. I'll let others rate & rank our service, food, etc. Just wanted to set the record straight. The Saloon is, was & will continue to be open construction or not. Oh and by the way our upstairs tenant is also still here, but thanks for the concern.

I recently relocated to Seattle & found the Saloon. It's now my favorite hangout. The food is great, big portions of really good home cooking. The thing that really sold me though is the staff. After a few visits they not only knew me by name but remembered what my drink of choice was. Every time I show up I'm greeted like one of the crew, if you haven't been in here you should try it.

I stop here about 2 to 3 times a week. I've had the burgers, the salmon, the meatloaf, and pot roast...I love em' all...but I had the wings last week and they were shameful. That being said, I haven't found decent wings in Seattle. Fried so hard you could knock out a small mamal with a drumstick. The "hot" sauce so mild I would use it for baby formula...for a baby with a sensative tummy. Everything else is good. I think the service is fine. The place does smell funny though...

Good beer and a great burger! Also a nice place to sit out on the patio during the summer to meet friends and watch the pontoon planes fly overhead.

Good value for happy hour. Weekends always have a good selection of music at night, tho don't ask the bartenders for requests...A lot of the servers and some of the bartenders have an uncanny knack of remembering your drink and even your name after a couple of visits. That patio rocks in the summer. It's like being at a backyard BBQ except they keep bringing you drinks. And the servers are all good-looking women.

Pros: Rotating beer choices, Decent food, No downtown B.S.

I would agree with some of the comments left here, The Nick can be less than perfect when it comes to service sometimes, but I have never had anyone bee rude to me. I do think the food is better than a lot of the other neighborhood places i.e. the Red Door or Triangle. The thing that makes me come back is it's a great deal. For what you pay you get quite a bit. Big portionsof good food & well poured drinks. Thats what I look for in my neighborhood restaurant.

Very bad service - we were seated and then ignored by the wait staff. Determined to have what we came for, I ordered drinks & food at the bar from a very unpleasant barkeep. It was our first visit & it's our guess we may have been mistaken for another couple who perhaps created a problem at one time, but even so, we will not return based on the unprofessionalism of all. Additionally, outdoor area is very noisy & smelly due to high-volume traffic intersection, prices seem high.

Non-smoking bars are very refreshing, which adds a lot to TNSS. The outside patio is great on sunny days, and the drinks are poured well and affordable. The food is bar food. Some things are good, others are mediocre, some is just not good. Roll the dice and remember what you liked from the last time. I go here with a large group and it's fun. Ample TVs for watching the game. The staff is always friendly.

This is a great neighborhood spot that I've been going to for years. The bartenders are friendly and they remember your order. There's plenty of room and the fact that it's non-smoking makes me wonder how I ever tolerated those other smoky bars. Great bar food including an amazing sirloin salad (enough for 2) and terrific burgers!

Even though the service at Nickerson is hit or miss, it's still a nice place to eat. The food is pretty good and it's a fun place to sit outside and eat/drink - even in winter.
