I am big fan of thrift stores and for a few years I frequented value village in Redmond, I would eat lunch nearby at Nasai Teriyaki and make it a point to stop by Value Village several days a week.
But it soon became apparent to me that the place was unhealthy, not just to be in but also to buy from.
On several Occasions I found blood on the clothes that were hanging on the racks and sometimes you could smell urine and/or feces. Then I noticed they sell underwear, which I have to assume are used, I am truly afraid to ask.
The racks are pushed close together and the clothes are stuffed onto them so tightly that it makes it next to impossible to move the hangers without the clothes falling off, which will eventually become incredibly frustrating to even the most patient of shoppers.
The furniture is overpriced, or not priced 'to move' as they say. So it doesn??t change much, a dilapidated couch for 150 dollars that was from IKEA brand new for 185. Chairs they did not bother to clean the large amounts of cat hair off of, bed spreads with pubic hairs still woven into the material.
The staff; not so friendly, I have been yelled at for standing in the isle looking at shirts by a man pushing a cart (whom I did not see) I pushed the clothes apart on an isle to look at some pants only to have them pushed back by a lady re-stocking.
The employees get first pick of anything decent that might come into the store, the rest is (for the most part) depressing.
The pricing; Of course it is double what it should be, the sells are what attract people to the store, the complicated system and color specific sales that change week to week and sometimes day by day.
Do yourself a favor and compare Value Village to ANY other thrift in the NW and you will soon realize that the things I am saying here are all to true.

One of the things I miss most from where I lived before is some good thrift shops! We had a really great one that really was very selective and only got more trendy, wearable things.
We also have a lot of fun at smaller ones finding really strange clothes, just for kicks or costumes.

Value Village gets neither the really strange stuff (at least, not enough in proportion to the rest), or the actually decent, wearable clothing.

Its just aisle after aisle of someone else's discarded junk that was discarded for good reason. And it SMELLS. The entire store smells and is gross. I come here for Halloween and theme party costumes and boy, its tough to make a costume out of the sad items at this place.

And the bathrooms?? Worst I've been in for a long long time.

PROS: Cheap, only real thrift store in town for costume shopping
CONS: Dirty, terrible selection, smelly

I've found this Value Village to have really crowded racks. It was hard to look at clothes because they were jam packed together. I did find some good things, but i've been to better ones.

Value Villiage offers mostly used, but some new, items. It is extremely well organized and fairly clean. The prices are pretty good, but when they have sales, they are excellent. (Their sales vary. Sometimes all x-colored tags are $.99; sometimes all used items are 50% off; and sometimes all x-colored tags are 50% off). Typically they offer no additional discounts a few days a week, and their biggest discounts (i.e. 50% off all used items) on or around major holidays. The staff is moderately friendly. You can usually find at least something on every trip here.

I went to this store trying to find some reasonably priced accessories for a Devil costume. I wasn't quite sure about the staff, there were 2 that I liked. They only let you exchange things, you could not return anything for a full refund. I also saw some other accessories that I kinda liked, but they weren't accents for a costume I w3as wearing. I was looking for things for someone else. I decided to pass on the purchase since I probably would not be interested in anything else in the store at a later date. You could only exchange things, not get a full refund on your returns.

PROS: Store was conveniently located.
CONS: Exchanges but no refunds on purchased items.

If you like to look good and save money, check this store out! I found designer clothing in perfect condition for a fraction of the price. They always have new things and if you wait for their 50% off sales you really score. I'm all for recycled clothing, this place is the place to shop.

This Value Village location probably carries the nicer stuff in the area. You will find a ton of name brand clothing items in tip top shape. Their prices can be steep on some things so be sure to visit on the .99 tag day on Monday. This location is also one of the larger ones in the area and is fairly clean.

Wonderful Value Village location, has a huge selection of clothing which is very well organized and clean. Super good specials on certain nights of the week, making the merchandise extremely affordable. I go here when I don't want to pay full price for clothing I don't want but have to have for work. The quality here is pretty good.

Sometimes there's some cute stuff here, but not usually. The costumes at halloween, which are definitely a great price, are usually falling apart IN the store. The furniture though is usually way overpriced.

Lots of used items. I've found good prices on children's clothing and books there. But since it's in a pretty busy shopping area, finding a convenient parking space is often difficult.
