Dawn's been cutting my hair for nearly five years. We started long and "grew" short. I felt like I was walking off the edge of a cliff when I cut my long hair off yet something inside me really wanted to take the dive. I loved the way Dawn encouraged that spiritedness. I appreciate the way she listens so attentively. She offers me so much creativity and time - I can tell she really cares how I look. I feel lighter & younger when I walk out the door.

I had the best hair cut and wax.Lucy, Juel, Heidi they all are amazing at what they do, i never go to anyone else except for lucy for wax, heidi does a great job with styling too, my style lasted for two days :)... so yes i love the salon and the everyone working there.

When I moved to the Seattle area from the East Coast three years ago, I was in a panic trying to find a new hair stylist. I'm very particular about my hair. It has to be stylish and low maintenance. After bouncing around a few salons in the area, I read the reviews on Citysearch and gave Salon Tewl a call.

The wonderful front desk staff referred me to Jamie, who I've been seeing for 2.5 years now. She is simply amazing! Jamie has given me a wide variety of cuts and all-over color or highlights, depending on my budget and whatever new look I might want. She's awesome at balancing my ideas with what will look good on me (my face shape and coloring). She's even been helping me through a grow-out, as I go from super-short to shoulder-length hair. Even during what would be an awkward hair stage, I get compliments on my cut and color!

Since going to Jamie, everyone I've referred to her has loved her. She's awesome with a wide variety of men and women at any stage in life, and can do more conservative or trendy styles, depending on what you want. I've seen other stylists in the salon ask her for coloring advice and she's never failed me on a product recommendation! She also frequently sends out coupons for discounts on her services.

All of the front desk staff at Salon Tewl are great and make you feel welcome from the first time you call. It's an upscale salon without feeling stuffy, and everyone always has a smile on their face. I cannot recommend this salon or Jamie highly enough - if you have any doubts, pick up the phone right now and schedule an appointment with Jamie! You'll love her!

I am an extremely picky person and when I have a picture in my mind I want it to match exactly. All my life I have been let down by hair dressers, but not Heidi.

She listened to my description and did what I asked for. I will never go to anyone else again and would feel comfortable referring anyone I know to go to her.

SHE IS VERY TALENTED AND CARES!
That's hard to find these days.... :)

She is especially great with curly hair...understands the neurosis that comes from coping with curls in this climate.
Dawn's skill is complimented by a friendly, professional staff in a calm, relaxed, never-stuffy environment.

I thank my lucky stars that I found Dawn 6 years ago. Dawn is a master at color and cut. I have curly hair and she knows how to cut it to make it look its best and the color always looks very natural which I love. She also does an amazing job drying my hair straight for a whole new look. I highly recommend Dawn and I wouldn't go anywhere else!

Lucy is fantastic! I heard about her when she did an appearance on the Bob Rivers radio show as being the "wax diva!" I called and made an appointment right after hearing her interview! She is fabulous! my eyebrows have never looked better. She is very honest and she knows what looks good! My biggest fear when getting my brows waxed has always been overplucking/waxing and she makes sure not to do that. She works with the shape of your face and features and natural brow shape and she just makes them look absolutely flawless! Also, she uses hard wax which I had never heard of before seeing her and honestly I would never go back to cloth strips, she is very quick and fun to talk to. It feels like you are visiting with one of your best girlfriends and catching up. I will forever be a client with Lucy! she is spectacular, and there is no one else around like her!

I was referred by a friend to see Natalya at Salon Tewl in Bellevue. The salon has a relaxing atmosphere. Natalya asked me what kind of style I wanted and she also recommended several different styles that she thought might look good on me. She was clear and direct in her communication and I trusted her suggestions. We decided to go with a style that looks conservative during the workweek, but cool & modern when I go out at night on the weekends. My hair looks much more stylish and modern now! I feel more handsome & confident. I've also had several compliments from my friends, family and co-workers.

I've had several hair stylists over the past 10 years, but it's hard to find one that I really like. Natalya is now my stylist and she is the best. Thanks, Natalya!!!

I just moved to the area recently and after seeing my stylist in Portland, OR for a couple of years, I was really hoping to find a stylist as fabulous as she was. I decided to go to Salon Tewl because of all of the great reviews and I was scheduled to see Natalya for highlights. She herself was extremely friendly and overall a very nice girl. She and I had great conversation the entire time. My highlights took a long time but turned out great ...but then she told me she was going to touch up my layers because she said they looked like "steps" in the back and she wanted to blend them in a little. I, of course, agreed because she's a pro and I was sure she would make it look even better than I thought it already was. Unfortunately, I ended up with really choppy looking hair and she completely cropped my bangs! I told her I didn't want them too short and now, I have to bobby pin them so that they don't land right in my eyeballs. I understand that she's a professional and all but shouldn't you always listen to your clients so that we get what we want instead of what you think we should want? She told me long bangs weren't stylish anymore but I can't say the choppy bangs I have now are all that flattering. Anyway, my highlights look great but my bangs and choppy cut bum me out so much that it almost overshadows the great highlights and that's unfortunate.

I have been seeing Hollie at Salon Tewl for over a year now. I have recieved so many compliments since she has been doing my hair. She definitely has a natural talent for what she does. I had heard about Salon Tewl through some friends and knew it was a great Salon. Since Hollie has been doing my hair, it has never looked or felt better. It is definitely healthier than it has ever been and her cut and color is amazing. I would recommend Hollie to everyone I know.

This salon is fantastic all the way around. It's eclectic group of stylists mean that anyone can find what they are looking for. The owner Marta is the best in her trade and is constantly offering new things. From skin care, to make up and hair extentions just like the stars have! Marta has been coloring my hair for years and she has ALWAYS done a fabulous job. In fact I get many compliments from friends and random people commenting on how great my color is. I highly recommend Salon Tewl.

Sarah did an amazing job styling my hair for my wedding. The person I originally had scheduled to do my hair cancelled on me the Thursday before my Saturday wedding. A friend recommended Sarah and not only was she able to accomodate me on such short notice, but she paid close attention to what I wanted and knew exactly what she needed to do. My hair does not hold curls well, but I wanted curly hair on my wedding day. She put A LOT of care into curling my hair to ensure that the curls held all day. My hair was EXACTLY the way I wanted it. I would recommend Sarah to anyone looking for a hair stylist!!!

Sarah does hair extensions for me that last just forever. They're real human hair and the color and texture match my hair exactly. One girl at work wants long hair now, like me, and I've recommened her to Sarah. They're not cheap but they're worth it! Thanks Sarah!

Dawn is amazing with color and cuts. Every single time (dozens) that I've seen her, she's done a fabulous job. Usually using three different colors, she works her magic to make my hair shine. She's also tried my sometimes wacky ideas, and they've all turned out great! Both my son and I have had her wonderful haircuts as well. From my fine, stick-straight hair to my son's super-thick hair, Dawn makes us both look great. From the moment I first sat down at her station to present, I've always felt comfortable and like she was happy I was there. Go see her! I'm no spring chicken, and Dawn is the best stylist I've ever gone to.

I am picky as hell about my hair. I can't tell you how many people cannot cut short hair on a woman so I was a little nervous going in, not knowing if this would be another one of those crappy stylists. The receptionist recommended Natalya because she said she is good with short hair. She was right! The cut is perfect and she took the time to discuss how to style my hair and what products to use. She even offered to color my hair. I am so confident in her, I am taking a chance and scheduled an appt to have it done. I have a colorist so this is quite a risk for me, but I think it will be worth it.

I went to salon tewl for my first time and saw Heidi, She highlighted my hair perfect i knew what i wanted but dident know how to explain it very well. She took the time to talk with me and find out what i liked and dident like, which helped alot i really felt like she was listening to me, I will be back for sure, I'm very happy with my hair, the colors are perfect :) i highly recommend her!!!!!!

I saw Lucy today and I had by brows done. Great salon, Nice staff, Great atmosphere! Lucy did a WONDERFUL job. I am getting married next month and wanted perfect brows....Lucy gave them to me! She gave me plenty of pointers of where we want my brows to grow, and where we need to fill them in. I love how she actually measures them to make sure they are even! I highly recomend the salon, especially Lucy. I do think however, that Lucy's space is extremely small and she should charge more that $20 dollars I would have paid double, she's definitely worth it!

I just had a baby and wanted something new and stylish done to my hair, so my girlfriend told me to go see Jessica who she goes to. My color and cut turned out perfect! Jessica did this beautiful honey brown for fall, and cut my hair into a stylish bob that is esay for me to style for my hair type. It is just what i wanted! thanks!

I am so grateful to this girl!
A few days before my wedding I came over for a facial and eyebrow style. She suggested that I would try eyelash extentions. I did and WOW! I could not believe my eyes. My face and eyes looked sooo different and beautiful!
On the wedding day she did my make up and I really felt as if I was a princess. I kept getting compliments on how awesome I looked. You should see my wedding pictures, I can sell them to Bridal Magazine!

I just finished up seeing Lucy from Salon Tewl and had to come hear to rave about her. She does the best waxing! I've used her for my eyebrows and I won't EVER go anywhere else. She's priced excellent and does an impeccable job. Best of all - she does eyelash extensions!!! And she is excellent! She takes her time and does such amazing work. I've been to her for the full set and then on a monthly basis for the fills (for the past 4 months). I've had so many compliments on my long beautiful lashes, and no one ever thinks they are fake! Before Lucy, I had them done at a high end, large salon in Redmond (and they charged twice the amount Lucy does). I decided to try her out instead one time because a friend recommended her to me. Once I had my lashes done with Lucy, I never went back to the salon in Redmond! The other great thing about Lucy is she has a great personality and she works hard to keep her clients. She's wonderful! Try her, you'll love her!

I was contemplating picking away at my eyebrows; someone I used to see left that salon, saw someone else but they were in Kirkland, so I started cruising online and found Lucy at Tewl! I called and Lucy had an opening this afternoon, so not 2 hours or so after my musings, I was visiting Lucy. For the first time, someone measured prior to waxing and plucking! She carefully worked on my right side and showed me the results, dynamite! It looked like an eyebrow from a magazine! She worked her magic on the left side too, and, as I was leaving, stopped me to fix a couple of areas she saw that were not quite perfect! What amazing service. She is my new eyebrow person for sure because when I look in the mirror, I look 10 years younger!

I have been getting waxed for about 3 years now. I used to go to a spa in Ballard and recently moved to Kirkland. I was currently looking for another another person to do all my waxing because I was not about to commute to Ballard for a 15-30 min service. I found Salon Tewl in Bellevue and had heard great things about Lucy there. I was extremely nervous though going to another waxer for the first time. I have also ALWAYS done the strips when waxing and I heard she uses hard wax. I am not going to lie, that did make me nervous a little bit. So, she put the first piece of hard wax on and then took it off and to my surprise is did not hurt at all!! She did an INCREDIBLE job! I honestly think that I would prefer to not go to any other person for my waxing for a VERY long time. If you are looking for someone for your first time or if you are a regular waxer you have to come and try Lucy she is someone I will stick with for a long time!!

So about 5 years ago I called a hair salon to get in with my stylist (who shall remain nameless), she was unavailable; But fortunately Jamie was able to take me (I was graduating high school THAT weekend, and I wanted a new look). I would never have guessed that I would be getting one of the best hair experiences of my life. Jamie is one of the most friendly people I have ever met, she is always willing to accommodate your schedule (I just graduated college) she is an amazing hair designer! You will always look forward to visiting with her bc most of all it isn't just an appointment; it is like you are hanging out with a best friend. I honestly can?t ever imagine seeing someone else to do my hair bc, let me tell you, I have done everything from going blonde with a short punky hair cut, to being a brunette with long wavy hair and heavy bangs parted to the side. Believe me she has done everything that is almost possible with my hair. She is someone I trust and when I go to visit her I am just like ?I trust you, do what you want?make me beautiful.?(of course with some guidelines). She understands color, skin tone, cuts, style, and continues her education constantly; and she will ALWAYS listen to what her client has to say and what her client wants. Jamie can do anything from sultry to sophisticated and her clientele ranges from young girls, to soccer moms, and even the professional male who is striving to look his very best. But to be really frank, every picture that I have brought in she has been able to replicate it?EXACTLY! I love the huge Heidi Klum bangs and cut I just got, It is such a fun style that I can play with, even styling my bangs to the side for a more sophisticated look. Jamie you truly are an amazing stylist that is really hard to find out there; and I am so fortunate to have found you. THANK YOU!!!!

I find salon Tewl a bit crowded, but overall it is a nice place. Great location, free parking.
I think that hair services are a little nore expensive that other places, but they do a great job and their popularity shows that, therefore I'm OK with it.
I am particulary pleased with their esthetician Izabella. She is a high class professional, experienced and knowledgeable. I came to have a consultation with her after reading several reviews on this site, plus I heard some good words about her from her clients. Best facial by far, at a fraction of a cost that you would pay at a luxury spa. Izabella is very direct, no sales talk. And result speaks for itself.
Scheduling flexibility is also a plus at Tewl, they are very accomodating.

Pros: Professional, location, easy to find, parking, flexibility.

I went in to see Dawn May who is currently a stylist at Salon Tewl. She did the most AMAZING job on my hair. I have very curly hair and have never really known how to treat it. She basically worked magic into my hair and made me the happiest person. My hair has never felt so soft and silky. Before, the color that was in my hair completely washed me out. She knew exactly what to do. She made soft changes in the color, so it wasn't too dramatic, and not too dull either. She brightened it up with a few caramel colors and warmed it with some chestnut tones. She is definitely going to be my stylist for a long time to come. Thank you Dawn!!!

I come to salon Tewl often because of Izabella. I met her a few years ago and follow her everywhere from that day. You see, I had major issues with skin, and she was the only one who pinpointed problem right away and managed to help me. I?ve seen so many skin care therapists, but it was pretty much a waste of money.
Over these years, I learned that Izabella studied for several years in Europe to become a cosmetologist (here in states you only study for a few months). She also worked at medical spas, so she sees the problem from a medical side too. I recommended her to some of my friends and their results were also remarkable.
Izabella also accepts Spa Finder certificates (by the way, salon Tewl doesn?t), so if you get them as a present, you may use with her.
Last thing. One of my girlfriends had eyelashes done by Izabella. Wow! My girlfriend has beautiful eyes, but with extended eyelashes they are even more beautiful.

Pros: Great location, easy to find, free parking.

Marta is a highly skilled colorist and has a gentle, attentive way of accomplishing great miracles with my hair. I feel that I can trust her 100%. She cares for my comfort as few other hairstylists ever have, never pulling my hair, or shoving my head into akward positions. She similarly cares for the condition of my colored hair to make sure the techniques and products she uses create as little damage as possible. Her results are always fantastic and I have received many compliments since finding her a year ago. Additionally, her prices are quite reasonable and the atmosphere in the salon is welcoming.

My girlfriend recommended this place while I was visiting Seattle recently and I ended up loving my haircut and to be honest... this is all I really care about.... the atmosphere was very cool, the people were nice... (no silly attitudes like you find in some salons) and the prices were very affordable. But again... all I really care about is the quality of the haircut and it was first rate.

One more thing... I asked what the name of the place( TEWL) meant... and found out that it means "to everyone with love"..... I thought this was very cool. ;-)

I went today to see Roberta and I received the best haircut of my life! She knew exactly what to do and it looked great. I did not have to mess with it at all. I felt so confident that I was in great hands. I highly recommend her. Next I will see her for color.

I recently moved here from CA and was looking for someone good to cut my super thick curly hair. I'm picky about my cuts. In the past when we've moved it has usually taken me a while to find someone that I'm happy with. I found Salon Tewl through some online searching. I spoke to a receptionist about who she'd recommend to cut my hair type - she suggested Dawn. She was right on. Dawn is great with curly hair - not everyone is. She's given me some great cuts and also introduced me to some new product that has worked really well. I'd highly recommend Dawn - especially if you have curly hair.

I have frequented many beauty salons on the eastside. There were several things that made salon tewl stand out from the rest however. For example, each stylist is independent of the salon and has their own clientele. They have greater flexibility in their schedules and the ability to work around your busy workday. Although they're flexible just like any place prebook IN ADVANCE!! The atmosphere of the salon seemed warm and relaxing. My stylist Hollie was very attentive to my personal needs, graceful, and talented! Overall I highly recommend Tewl above the rest because of the convenient location, friendly and professional atmosphere and because they really made my hair day!

I read one of her reviews here and decided to give it a try. She is the real thing. She first learned how to do Brazilian and other waxes in Brazil. I am so happy that I can get a high quality brazilian wax without having to go all the way to Rio de Janeiro. Also, she made me very comfortable and had lots of patience with me. I have made an appointment with her next week to get my eyebrows done. The girl before me had just got her eyebrows done and they looked faboluous. I just Love Lucy.

I also read the reviews (only lived here for 3 months) from this website and decided to go to Salon Tewl. I was scheduled to see Jessica. This was the best experience I have had with a stylist. She understood every thing I told her and more. She cut and dyed my hair. I got a rinse done and long layered haircut with some shorter pieces around my face. I was extremely happy. I was not even thinking I would come out looking that good and I could tell it was good by the look on my boyfriends face when I got home. Also, I have never had my hair dyed before, so it was positive in every aspect. And the customer service is excellent.

I wanted to get some blond highlight and salon owner recommended me to see Carlos, he was great, he made me a beautiful platinum blond from a dark, dark brunet.

Salon Tewl is a fantastic place to go for the perfect haircut! Mari is very experienced and can do any haircut/style I request of her and make it look fantastic on me. I am so grateful to not have to worry about not getting a good haircut. I have been a client at this salon for a long time and have never left unhappy. I always feel uplifted when I leave. It is like going on a mini vacation. I am totally relaxed and have the utmost confidence that I will leave looking terrific.

After many, many haircuts by many, many hairstylists, I finally found someone that I love. Marta at Salon Tewl is amazing!!! She does a fantastic job with my wavy hair. I have seen many haircuts that she has done on a lot of people (my fiance, his sister, my friend), we all have different type hair and the cuts all look great.

I first visited tewl in Sep. 2006 based on all of its great reviews. After waiting a month for my first cut to grow out a bit, I was happy with my results. However, I visted Tewl again in January 2007 and I have struggled with stlying it, ever since. In fact, the only thing I can do is staighten it, which is NOT how I traditionally like to wear my hair. I went into the shop asking for some to be taken off the top, expressing my intent to grow-out the overall length of my hair. I left with an overly layer head and shorter hair. I am so disappointed, because before my last cut I loved my style and was happy with my length. But, now that my hair been so drastically layered, I fear that the only way to remedy the situation is to get it cut above my shoulders. Since it gets such rave reviews, perhaps this salon (or the stylist I used) is best suited for hair that is different from mine (thick and curly) or maybe my stylist was just having a bad day. Either way, I probably won't risk going there again.

When my husband got a great job offer in Redmond, WA, my first fear became true. How am I going to leave my great hair designer at "Illusions" in Nashville and replace him with someone as good as him? For woman, our hairdressers are our friends, our friends with magic on their fingers. They make us feel good and they pamper us. In return, we just love them and keep going back to them and be loyal customers.
So, I was determined, I would take little steps at a time at well known hair salons, just a regular hair trimming or a simple hair color of what I currently have and try different hair salons until I find my perfect match. However, what I thought as simple was a very complicated task to many hair designers until I find Charlie.
I had a hair color at Gene Juarez which damaged my hair and I had a hair cut at Bellezza in Bellevue, both of them were total dissappointment.
So when I came to Charlie, my hair was ruined. He worked wonders on my hair and he gave me the best hair color and cut I have ever had.
I can't thank him enough for the great work he provides.

I am new to the area and I found Salon Tewl online, I knew the minute I walked in that I had found the " Best Salon around." The staff was so friendly and the service was wonderful. The overall atmosphere was busy, fun, and upbeat. I loved the time I spent there and I can't wait to go back. I highly recommend this salon to anyone! I love my hair !! Rating a salon isn't really fair. It's all about the stylist you go to. I made a very specific request, "No shorter than 'there' please!" when Charlie cut my hair, but he disregarded it. My color came out beautifully, but I left frustrated when my hair was shorter than I'd wanted.
