Reviews for Bayview Property Management

Ratings_icons Bayview Property Management is uncaring, overpriced, and disrespecful

Vivian M.

The unit I rented it looked great at first until the cold months came around. Then all of a sudden I started having a massively bad mold problem. I called Bayview MANY times about this situation (there was mold all around the apartment and on my furniture--it was growing and spreading. Yuck!!) and they never seemed too concerned about it. Infuriating, because mold is a HEALTH HAZARD. And my unit had incredibly poor ventilation, with only two crummy windows in one corner that hardly offered any air. I had a humidity reader in the house and it *constantly* read at very high. Bayview did not to ANYTHING to fix the situation.

But not only was the unit a nightmare, the property manager was too! The first one, Natalie, was decent enough. But when they changed me over to Rachel, that's when things noticeably started to go downhill. Not only was she completely rude to me, but she was rude to my mother too (the co-signer) over the phone. She also came by my apartment with prospective tenants WHILE I WAS GETTING DRESSED and had *never* called ahead.

I could go on and on but basically they screwed me out of my deposit (the bastards, we worked incredibly hard to leave that place looking spotless-- it was dirtier when I first moved it!!), were rude to me repeatedly, and my god their PRICES are absolutely ridiculous. No grace period on paying rent, took forEVER to get back to me whenever I called (I called repeatedly and even left messages). Total pain in the ass.

If you HAVE to rent from them, I strongly advise that you keep detailed accounts of all your interactions between you and them. DON'T be lazy about it. At one point during the mold fiasco I had begun to record conversations (you can do this with a cellphone) between the manager and I whenever we talked. DO NOT LET THEM BULLY YOU, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A STUDENT!

Ratings_icons Bayview Property Management is incredibly dishonest

sheryl j.

Absolutely terrible. These people have NO scruples when you are moving out. We were great tenants, paid on time, fixed most things on our own, never complained when we were told there was not enough funds to fix things and when it came time to move cleaned up thoroughly and were out in a timely manner. Bayview stole from us. They kept not only our damage deposit but our last months rent without good reason.
I would never rent from them again nor would I use them as a property management company as they are dishonest, crooked and don't properly do their jobs.

Ratings_icons A scam, a fraud, this place is under investigation and in court!!

Leslie G.

Terrible! This place is fraudulent, and should be investigated. I paid a $900 holding fee, so that the place I wanted could not be rented while my application was pending. They told me I had not provided enough rental history, so I would need a co-signer. I submitted 5 addtl years rental history, but they said it didn't matter. They were so rude, and then told me that no matter what, even if I did have enough history, they WOULD NOT refund my holding fee!!! So now I am out $900, with no rental, simply because I refuse to rent from a company who will not even give me a reason for needing a co-signer. I am in the process of taking them to small claims court now... DO NOT ENTER INTO ANY AGREEMENTS OR SIGN ANYTHING WITH THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU HAVE AN ATTORNEY THERE, OR LOOK IT OVER FIRST.

Ratings_icons Nice At Your Signing, A Nightmare At Your Departure

Kamran R.

They are nice when you are signing that lease and getting to know them. They are a nightmare upon moving out.

I would never ever deal these people again. They are out to keep your deposit so don't plan on getting anything back.

Ratings_icons Draconian and Inconvenient PM

As a tenant I would not recommend them unless you *really* like the property they are renting. They have a zero day grace period for rent, and close at 5, meaning that unless you use vacation time to leave work early, you are going to be very inconvenienced. They also require all maintenance requests to be sent in writing, making requesting maintenance during the day or evening almost impossible unless you happen to have a fax machine, and even then you have to call to request the form, wait for them to fax it (if they even bother), then fax it back then call to confirm. A big pain in the butt.

Ratings_icons Can't seem to leave!

I have been with Bayview for the last seven years. When I left my previous apartment I chose another rental with this company. I don't think I even looked with anyone else. The staff is top rate. They have always been prompt with any work or repairs that I have needed done. As a renter for 18 years finding someone who will actually do maintenance without a fight and in a timely manner is few and far between. I would and do recommend Bayview on a regular basis.

Ratings_icons Very helpful and friendly staff!

Ricky A.

I have been working with Darrell over the past couple of weeks and he has been the most friendly and professional person I have ever dealt with from a property management company. He has been polite, returned my calls, taken my calls, and retrieved the information I was after very quickly. I have been in the real estate business for 10 years and never once have I come across a property management company that I felt so good about! I will always recommend Bayview with confidence. Also, when I have come into the office in person the girls at the front desk have been so pleasant and nice and I appreciate that too.

Ratings_icons would NOT recommend!

dayle e.

My husband and I would definitely NOT recommend BPM!
They did not work hard to try and rent our place out, showed up with probable tenants without calling first then they got upset when we rented our house out on OUR own efforts through friends. they demanded a $200 cancellation fee that is not stated clearly in the contract. I would not recommend them at all whether to manage your property or to be clients.

Yes it's true that the people who worked in the office were very courteous. When we moved out we were very thorough. There inspection person even gave it a very good ok. Then we got a letter from them that they were charging us for a venetian blind that wouldn't stay open(I had reported it on my move in list) and they charged us for 4 hours of cleaning. The neighbors told me that the cleaning girl had been in there 15 min. tops. They also charged another neighbor for a broken screen that was badly bent when they moved in. I could go on but I think I've made my point.

Ratings_icons wonderful rental agency

Robert Z. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 7,268

Protocol property managment is one of the best companies to work with in Bellingham. We have had some bad experiences with others in teh area (see other reviews) but this place, was nothing but great for us. They helped us find the perfect place, helped us figure out what we could afford, and helped us get into the place. They worked with us on terms and explained the contracts to us 100 percent. They also did a thank you which was really great!

PROS: great caring rental agency
CONS: rates are high but workable
