I have been with the agency for about 4.5 years. Kim is kind, helpful, and works hard to get us auditions and jobs. I have very much enjoyed being a part of this agency. It is a positive place to be a part of and I very much look forward to my next job with them! Thank you.

My experience with the Kim Brooke was positive from the very first day. Both my son and I loved them, and they were all great with him. They are all very knowledgeable of the industry. They are honest and give you a very real expectation, and they don't make promises they cannot keep! I have been signed with Kim for less than a year and my son has already had multiple auditions, and we just finished filming a nationally televised commercial that my son was booked for. Kim was amazing, and helped me through it all! She is always very prompt to respond, and was a huge support to me. I am very grateful to have found my son such an amazing agent, and would recommend her to anyone!!! Thanks, Kim, for everything! Sam and I are looking forward to our next job! :)

From Casting Directors to Advertising Agencies - they will tell you Kim Brooke has been around a long time and she is very respected and her people are of extreme quality. I know because I use her agency all the time.

I would give her zero stars if I could.

A little over a year ago, I signed up my child (I am keeping this anonymous) at Kim's agency. She had me pay for very expensive photographs through a photographer she booked. I also had to pay for lots of poor quality 8X10 picture cards to give if we ever went to an audition. We had hired a professional photographer in the past for outstanding family and individual photos and the cost was about 1/3 of what Kim's photographer charged us.

Kim has a quick answer for everything. She can brag (and sound like she's just going to help you), tell you how lucky you are and how her photographers are a great price.. and you don't have other knowledge and sign up. Unfortunately I heard that she's a scam by a dozen other people right after we signed up. So, I decided to give it a year and see.

She then meets with parents and tells you information. Most of the meeting is her saying "don't call me" and "don't blame me if you don't get work". She even mentioned, "I really hope each of your kids gets at least one job this year". She told us they will probably get about $150 for one job.. does that make up for the $500 or so of the money you pay for the photos? (and it costs you around $100 to get the CD of the photos taken)

One year, we waited. I did call and check in but didn't want to bug her. I checked around. A gall I know signed up her kid and was told to take the drama course. Apparently her kid liked the drama/acting course.. but never got work.

Please save your money. Having done research, most kids don't get work unless they are in LA or NY. Don't be a sucker like I was. Kim can sell ice to Eskimos.. she makes her money off a few clients and skimming money off of the photos and such.

The acting classes at the Kim Brooke were extremely effective for building upon my skills and talents. The instructors are very knowledgeable and helpful. I am now more confident and prepared for auditions and jobs. Directly after joining the agency I was sent to my very first audition for a commercial and landed the job!!!! I was ecstatic as this was a lead speaking role! Overall this has been a fantastic learning and working experience. I am so excited to receive more bookings!

I have been with Kim Broke Group for over 10 yrs. I also have a 7 yr old and a baby in her agency. We researched and visited several other places before joining her company. They are the most professional and very honest with the way they handle everything. I would highly recommend Kim Brooke to anyone. She's the BEST!!!!

I have worked with Kim Brooke for 11 months now and couldn't be happier! She has an amazing reputation with her clients and casting directors. This agency is extremely professional and honest and is the longest running agency in the Seattle area. She has been around for 30 plus years and that speaks for itself. I look forward to working at the KIM BROOKE GROUP everyday I'm there and feel there is no better place to be.

I have to agree with the review below me, joining Kim Brooke was the right choice for me. Yes there are other legitimate agencies in Seattle, and yes I tried to audition at most of them.

Tiffany Talent: They seemed disorganized and unprofessional
Toposwope: Not accepting new talent
Colleen Bell: Classes were SO pricey for what you got
Big Fish: Just an online agency...basically I had to pay to be on their website and that was all they offered me.
Emerald City: What a joke. The guy was creepy and wanted to take pics of me on his digital camera...and charge me for them.
John Robert Powers, Barbizon, and John Casablanca: they are not agencies...just charm schools

Basically, I joined Kim Brooke because they had their stuff together and the cost of classes was worth it for what I got. The fact that I can take workshops with their coaches as much as I want for as long as I want, and my headshot was included in the workshops, is worth it to me. I have been on two auditions and had one direct booking which already paid for the workshops. woohoo!

I have been an actress for a few years now and recently decided to switch agents. I was very hesitant to go to Kim Brooke Group after reading some of the reviews about them making you take classes (esp.considering I have experience and went through over 3 years of training with the Beverly Hills Playhouse...) but I went anyways to see for myself (afterall, this IS the internet...anyone can write anything)

I am SO glad that I went! I was signed to the agency, and they did NOT make me take any classes. I did ask straight off if that would be required of me should I join and the agent was very upfront and honest stating:

"Individuals who pass our agency audtion do not need to get training before joining the agency. However, those who have never been trained or have no experience will have to get training from SOMEWHERE." and "No agent will take on talent who doesn't know what they are doing."

She went on to say that it was a big misconception that training through their agency was required...something that was unfortunately perpetuated by the online reviews.

I am so glad that I went to the audition and asked these questions, otherwise I would not be here now, a working actress with a great agent!

I love being represented by Kim Brooke! Before I came to Kim I had been ripped off by Casablanca and Emerald City Model and Talent so I was very wary of any place that said I needed to be trained. Lukily I trusted my instincts decided to go for it...I signed up for workshops with a coach (Ray, he is AMAZING) that the girl I auditioned with recommended and I was BLOWN AWAY with how much there was to know about acting. I had the opportunity to go on an audition after my third workshop which was a definite eye opener...I had no idea how much better you are treated by the directors when you are actually represented by someone!

I had my final audition with Kim Brooke herself and was accepted into the agency. I stop in all the time and Kim always takes time to say hi to me (she knows me by name, as well as everyone else in the agency) and the agents are always friendly and tell me about what kind of work they have coming up that they are submitting me for.

This place feels like home to me

I went through the obligatory classes demanded by Kim and found them completely worthless. There is absolutely no feedback, no help whatsoever. It basically boils down to giving them 2000 and hope for some small, crappy gig that doesn't pay anything and that she pays you maybe 3 months later. One of my biggest life lessons!

I'm a working actor living in LA from Seattle. I'm here to tell you that you do not want to sign with this agency. It's rule #1 when you're looking for an agent - "if they ask for money from you" they are not legitimate and you need to move on. They're going to come at you with a sales pitch similar to that of a used car salesman or someone selling time shares in Las Vegas. Be strong and walk away. Yes, training is VERY important for any actor/model - regardless if you're just starting out or if you're Brad Pitt. But no legitimate agency requires that you pay $2000 for their course before they sign you. That's simply laughable. These scam agencies are world wide. In LA they are EVERYWHERE!! They prey upon the hopes, dreams, and often times naivety, of aspiring actors. $2000 can be a lot of money for an up and coming actor. Put it to better use. Do some extensive research before wasting your $$ on this place. Emerald City Model and Talent is another one you want to stay away from! Your career will go no where with these agencies - all you will most likely get is extra work - unless you get lucky at a cattle call - in which case you could have done that yourself. There's a million lessons you need to learn about being an actor - this is one - take my word for it or learn the hard way! .........Also, I am personally not bitter or angry with the Kim Brookes Group in anyway. Scam agencies like these are just a sad part of the industry. Many years ago I got some bad advice and did end up auditioning for them. Let me just say it was hilarious!! I did 3 separate cold reads, several 'modeling' poses, then they had me walk the cat walk. (this is when I realized something was definitely not right) When my audition was over the sales woman said she was "blown away" in all her years working at the agency she had never seen any one like me. She said I had all the qualities they were looking for and was confident that I would book many high paying jobs...etc.. she wanted to sign me immediately and put me to work.........but first......you guessed it!! :) 2 grand and a bunch of crappy acting classes:)) Luckily my first acting instructor taught me rule number one, so I politely declined, thanked her for her time and got up to leave. As I was leaving she made a couple rude remarks about me not caring about my training, and not serious about my career....which I thought was wierd :P ? Considering a few minutes earlier I had "all the qualities they were looking for!" Oh well it was a waste of time but kind of fun in sad, pathetic sort of way - and I actually did learn something at the Kim Brookes Group.....that I don't belong on the catwalk!! So stay away! Good agencies in the Seattle area agencies like: TCM, Topo, Big Fish NW, Heffner...............Get the opinion of a Seattle Industry professional if you're still not sure - good luck:)

Kudos to the Kim Brooke Group. After reading some of the "bad' reviews, anyone having ANY knowledge about the industry would know these reviews are totally out of line, silly, and not at all true. I personally have always wanted to pursue acting in the worst way. I went to the Kim Brooke Group on an ad I saw listed on Craigs List. I didn't have any experience and was told I was going to have to have commercial training. I was really excited till I read a few "bad" reviews so I decided to hold off. My husband and I moved to L.A for his business 6 months later. I thought since I lived in LA...the hot spot for television I'd look into it down here.
I couldn't so much as get an appointment with ANY agency let alone get my foot in the door without commercial training. And down in LA, Training runs between $8000.00 and $12,000.00. I did manage to get into one or two movies as an extra earning maybe $100.00.
This last April my husband and I moved back to Seattle and again I went into the Kim Brooke Group and was told that if I truly wanted to earn a great income, I would have to have training. I agreed. I signed up for the workshops and within a few months I was actually in my first commercial. You can see me in several commercials, and print ads. I'm having fun, earning a good salary, and living my dream. The staff in great, the talent scouts really know this industry well, and the Kim Brooke Group really is the best in Seattle...I give this agency * * * * * stars

Pros: Best Agency in Seattle

.

I auditioned for Kim Brooke with a dramatic monologue. She said, and I quote, my acting was "okay" and "not strong." (Interesting, because I have an MFA in theatre and have been teaching acting for 15 years.) At this point I thought she would give me some copy to cold-read, or perhaps suggest an acting coach to help me hone my skills. Instead she told me that I should think about signing up for some of her modeling classes so that I would be "more marketable." In contrast, the agent I recently signed with recognized the names of the acting teachers on my resume. After I performed the exact same monologue that I had shown Kim, this agent said I was obviously a skilled actress and offered to represent me. If you are a serious actor, I recommend interviewing with genuine talent agents in Seattle, and staying as far away as possible from the Kim Brooke Group.

My experience with the Kim Brooke agency was a great one. I am still with the agency and they are very hands on. I have worked several gigs and made more than my money back. But mostly I loved the coaches. I learned a ton. The agency has a ton of charachter and has been in Eastlake forever, it reminds me of something you see in a movie. Very colorful characthers and just plain fun. I would refer anyone there looking to break ground in the industry.

To F.R.A.U.D. None of what you said is true and I can personally prove that what is being said is just plain and simply SLANDER towards Jennifer. First off, EVERYONE that comes into an agency expects the agency to take them HANDS down REGARDLESS of LACK of experience. Yes, if you can pass the agency audition ( same applies in LA. & NY ) We [The Kim Brooke Group] would sign you to our agency. Those that DO NOT have ANY experience whatsoever, YES, you DO NEED to go SOMEWHERE and get trained!!!. At NO time have I ever told someone that they MUST get training from our agency. Where YOU go is up to you. BUT YES, YOU DO NEED TRAINING IN THIS INDUSTRY. ( I'm talking to individuals 1 -5 years after I saw them the first time, and guess what, They're still trying to break into this industry, yet REFUSE to seek out ANY commercial training. )
Agencies are NOT responsible for financing your training. Coaches DO NOT train out of the "goodness" of their hearts. So Yes, YOU DO HAVE TO PAY FOR YOUR OWN TRAINING.
We also have NEVER told anyone they have to come up with their fees ASAP! There are deadlines for enrollment EVEN in this industry, and just like colleges or Vocational Schools THEY do have NON NEGOTIABLE DEADLINES.
If and when you have a bad experience in ANY company, instead of slamming that business and going on line ( which in this industry is like the National Enquirer ) Call them back, come in, ask them if what you heard is true, or was it because you do not understand the terminology and decided in your own mind that this must be a scam.

To The Craigs List Ad that was ...misleading???
NOT ONCE have WE [The Kim Brooke Group] EVER listed an ad on Craigs List that stated NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!!! We do not take NON EXPERIENCED individuals and put them in $40,000. dollar commericals. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN.
Those that come in and tell us they have ALL this experience, but fail #1 to have any proof, or lack experience, we're not going to take you. Being in a music video does NOT make you experienced. Nor does doing background work or being an "extra" in LA give you the experience you need to be in a leading part. ( If you are THAT GOOD ...You'd be working already in this industry earning a great income!!!)
A data entry operator is NOT going to "get" you into computer programer position.
Those of you women that come to us Under 5'8 are YES, allowed to do everything BUT HIGH FASHION. So if you are 5'4 and were told that you have potential, but you need training...Why would that be a scam?
We didn't say you HAD to get training with [us] The Kim Brooke Group, But I bet you that you didn't even bother to get training elsewhere or even bothered to look!!
So again, Instead of "slamming" an agency because we either TURNED you down OR told you to seek out training DOES NOT MAKE US OR ANY OTHER AGENCY IN THE WRONG.
And those of you that ...swear by what you read. OMG, Anybody can write anything without ever even stepping into a business. Come in for yourself. I bet you will like what you hear, and who knows, you might just end up in a FUN and VERY REWARDING career.

I walked in with my partner who was in for an interview. Just sitting on the 1980's leftover purple couch. I noticed everything looked like time had forgotten it. My partner came out of his interview telling me how much Jennifer loved his look and wanted him to bring in $2000 by tomorrow as she would be "on-site" in California. Since when do agents spend a month on site?.... Anyway, $2000 by tomorrow? I told him to sit on it for a few days and mull it over, ask some questions and to be sure to get a statement in writing that he would be guaranteed work should he decide to pay the $2000 for acting classes and photos. Next we decided that he should find out who provides the lessons and photographs and how reputable they might be. Jennifer gave us a first name only and was reluctant to release a last name. She then informed us of some of her credentials in acting.... He could have Nicolas Cage!!! But yet he was giving acting lessons inside of a 1980's zebra and purple acting agency??? Then we found dozens and dozens of identical reviews. Even the charter sign in the office had hardware store block lettering pasted to it to give the impression of being a legitimate agency. This is a well honed, but not very well thought out, SCAM!
Avoid KBG at all costs! Rub your rosaries as you drive by, where a face mask if you must walk down that stretch of Eastlake Ave to prevent catching the plague that is Kim Brooke Group. If it were possible I'd rank this so-called business with negative stars.

I worked with Kim at KISS radio several years back. I was so impressed with her agency that I ended up working as an actor at The Kim Brooke Group. Kim refers the best coaches in town if you don?t have the experience needed to see clients; I trained with Gabriel Baron and Rebecca Rainsberger. After landing some TV commercials I am in radio back on the East Coast. Kim is by far the shining star in Seattle.

I have been represented by the Kim Brooke Group since 1992! I've gotten many gigs as both an actress and a model. The Kim Brooke Group books both fashion and commercial work which is a huge plus. I have never felt that the grass is greener as far as other agencies go. All the clients love working with her because she is very up front and honest.

Hello Kim,

Many thanks for your assistance to my Talent Coordinator Belinda Irons in casting our TV campaign for KIRO Radio.
All talent was on time, professional, and performed up to my high expectations.
Most importantly, they were genuinely real listeners of KIRO radio, and all were articulate enough to prove it.
With passion! In fact, I believe all your talent made the final cut,
A rare occurrence since we had about 25 setups.
The campaign goes on TV after February 9, multiple spots mostly on local news, so stay turned.

Cheers,

P. Rosler

I answered an Ad geared toward Baby Boomers -Actresses, etc., no experience necessary. I had been in a couple of films directed by Jake Gott ( Jakespearestudios) and it was a blast! I thought it would be fun to try auditioning for some acting work, especially if there was really no experience necessary. Jake Gott directed me very well, so, I figured I could probably do well with other directors. When I got the calI back from the agency, I was told there would be an evaluation. She asked if I had another job in case I needed to take a class or provide headshots because I would be evaluated for Modeling as well, but, I am 5'4", hella short! I'm 52...yes, I look 20 (ok 30) (ok, 40) (ok, shut up) No seriously, they will tell a monkey they are gorgeous and can be trained, so watch out. I am not really interested in going "back to school". Of course an evaluation of sorts is necessary.but- face it- you will be acceptable even if you stink out loud..as long as you can pay! So...that aside..- I will tell you exactly how my son was "discovered".
He was playing guitar in the streets, and a photographer saw him and got his information. Months later, I was called and they were trying to locate him. ( He was on the road with a guitar on his back...Seattle, Montana, Arkansas...) well, I found him and gave the message and he called the number. The company was Abercrombie and Fitch. They flew him to Boston, got him signed up with an agent, put him up in a nice hotel and fed him like a king. He hung out with supermodels for 2 days, made $500 a day, and at the end of it...he was in the Xmas catalog and decided that was not the life for him...he hated it. ( I cried a little) But, people- THAT is how it is done. He paid for nothing, I paid for NOTHING. I have the catalog as a keepsake! My son is now a performer...check him out on itunes- Eggplant is the name of the band. He's Luke Short. ( also catch his show at Virgo & Pisces, Portland OR , with Boy & Bean)

I interviewed with the Kim Brooke talent agency and received a nearly identical high-pressure sales job trying to sell me their acting classes as some others have written about. I wasn't sure if it was a scam at first, but after reading the reviews and looking at how similar it was to my own experience, I believe now that it probably is.

I was also told that I had a great look and that I would have more work than I would know what to do with, each paying several hundred to several thousand dollars plus residuals, but of course I would have to take their $2000 course to learn everything I needed to know first. It felt eerily like I was talking to a high-pressure used car salesman. When I told her I needed a day to think about it, I was told that the classes fill up immediately and if I hesitated I would have to wait months for another opening. When I expressed a concern about putting up that much money I was told I should apply for a credit card or borrow it from someone. She guaranteed I would make back the money in the first month. I think when I realized for sure that it was a great big snow job was when she called me the next day and left me a message saying she had two jobs lined up for me in the Spring and one they even mentioned me by name. I don't know how anyone on earth could have mentioned me by name since she is the first agent I have even talked to and don't even have a head shot done yet. She's been doing this long enough, and apparantly her own acting skills are polished enough to make it sound very credible and believable. She nearly had my checkbook in hand before I managed to wiggle away. While I won't swear she can't deliver what she promises, I think if she could she would not feel a need to push it so hard that your head is swimming by the time you leave. Proceed with caution is my best advice here.

I have been with The Kim Brooke Group for over a decade. I landed commercials with Rainer Beer, Microsoft, Pinnacle Golf, The Seattle Mariners and Taco Del Mar, and TV shows such as Pandora?s Clock and The Fugitive, to name a few. The coaches they refer are the best at preparing and helping people with all levels of experience to thrive in this industry. I highly recommend Kim Brooke to anyone.

I read the last review and was amazed at how much it mirrored my experience with them.
I went in for an 'appointment' and it turned into a, 'Wow, you've got the look, let me show you how much money you could make off just one job plus residuals'. My head was spinning with dollar signs. When I said sign me up, she said, 'Oh, but you need training, I can't send you out on auditions till you've completed our training'..Oh how much is that? 'Well, usually its this much, ($4,200) but for you, I'll give you a special deal and throw in some free headshots all for just $2,000. She said their classes fill up months in advance, but, someone just happened to cancel yesterday and there was only one spot left in class that started in a few days. I said there was no way I could come up with $2000 in a day and she said I should go get a bank loan or a credit card and put it on that. I would easily make my money back within a few months off of my first job. She was extremely aggresive. I told her I had training, real conservatory training to which she replied, 'Well how long ago?" I said I graduated in '98 but took a break from acting to pursue other things. She said, 'Well things in the business change and you need to get current on new techniques'. So, I looked at what their 'training' program entailed; sense memory, auditioning techniques, reading scripts, taking headshots and learning monologues, etc... and let me tell you something, if you were ever professionally trained you'll never forget sense memory, script and monologue reading and auditioning techniques. I checked out other talent agencies around town and NONE OF THEM have 'training programs' attached to them or ask you for money, NONE. You actually have to audition to become a client. And, there are a ton of REPUTABLE acting schools in Seattle that have great programs that don't cost thousands of dollars.
Screw the Kim Brooke Groupe. Seriously, someone should put their scamming asses out of business.

I want everyone to know to stay away from "Kim Brooke Group Agency"Located in Seattle! I went there around a month ago. And the first impression I had from the place was not good. The Place is totally 80?s style. 80?s pictures on the wall, scary coaches. And the worst thing of all it the skanky perfume smell everywhere. Anyways, I said to my self, I shouldn?t judge a book by its cover. So they call me in the office, and the lady that was interviewing me was even scarier. She immediately wanted to sign me up for some acting courses $1999.00 w/o tax and that she had only one spot left, And that she saw potential in me so she will reserve it for me ,and so on. She was worst then a tacky cars sales man. I told her I didn?t have the money for now and that I wanted to have more time to think before I make a decision. She acted all disappointed saying that I really don?t want this..if I would want this I would pay the course right away by using my credit card. She was trying to put a guilt trip or some kind of reverse psychology, trying to make me feel guilty that I am not signing up right away- Finally I left the office ?told her that I had some kind of appointment to go to, so she finally let me go?. I have been in other agencies in the past, and it has never worked like this. A day later she called me AGAIN saying that I still have an opened spot. I told her I will call her when I feel ready to sign up. And again she called me.. luckily it went into voice mail. Talk about desperation! Any ways I did my research and found out more bad stories about Kim Brooke.I am very happy I did my research and avoided the SCAM. I hope this review helped you.
