Great produce and unique grocery store  5 Star Rating - World class

Uwajimaya, located in the International District, fills the void of Seattle's Asian grocery stores. The grocery store is huge and has a lot of varieties of specialty produce and meat. There is also a reasonably priced gift shop and a food court attached to the large complex. Parking is free and plentiful in an area of Seattle where parking is hard to find. Try the frozen mo chi for a refreshing treat!

PROS: lots of parking!

Wonderful place to spend the day, eat, and shop!  5 Star Rating - World class

This is one of my favorite stores. There's free validated parking with purchase over 5.00, and more time added with purchase over 10.00. The food selection is amazing. Produce selection is amazing. They have all the hard to find produce items. Tons of foods from all asian countries. And the food court is awesome. They have every kind of Asian food. Bubble tea, Chinese bakery, Vietnamese pho, Korean food, etc. A really fun place to shop and browse around! The Japanese Bookstore is connected too!

PROS: A vast variety of things to eat, buy, browse!
CONS: You can find a lot of the items ~ .10 cents cheaper elsewhere!

The best in Asian shopping!  5 Star Rating - World class

The Uwajimaya Village is the BEST for shopping for Asian goods in Seattle. You can find fresh foods and groceries from all over Asia and the Orient, as well as home products, decor, clothes, books, magazines, music, stationery....everything you could possibly need! Why go looking in dozens of specialty shops when everything you need is in one place? You won't believe how convient it is.

PROS: wide selection of products
CONS: some specialty items a little more pricey

Oh. Wow. You must see this to believe it  5 Star Rating - World class

Uwajamaya, located in Seattle's International District, is a HUGE Asian grocery, fresh food, meat, seafood, and gift outlet. This place is SO big. Definitely a must-see for locals and tourists alike.

99% of the items in the store do not have English lettering or translations for them--they're in Chinese or Japanese or Korean or whatever. So you run the risk of buying what you think are sweet cookies only to find out that they're shrimp and seaweed flavoured crackers. Ha ha. Joke's on you.

Very exotic fruits, veggies, and other grocery goods. Entire aisle is devoted to soy sauce, another to rice, and yet another just to noodles.

Must stop and shop here. I think it's required by law.

Oh and park in their parking lot and you get 1 hr free parking if you spend $5, and 2 hours if you spend $10

Absolutely wonderful shopping experience  5 Star Rating - World class

This is THE most amazing Asian grocery store and gift shop I have ever seen. It is HUGE and even has a food-court area with so many tasty treats.

The grocery part is just amazing. There is an extensive fresh fruit/veggie section that has your run of the mill tomato and oranges, but also carries very exotic fruits/veggies that are imported from Asia.

The main grocery store has just such neat things. The majority of items do not have English translations on them, so you really are buying things and not knowing what they are---which is half the fun :) I cannot even begin to express how absolutely NEAT this store is, and how it is a must see for anyone who is here visiting. Truly it is like stepping out of the US and into a completely different culture.

one stop shop for Asian goods  4 Star Rating - Very good

This large Japanese grocery store in the International District of Seattle is a one-stop shopping place for Asian goods. It has a large variety of Asian produce, snacks, microwave food, condiments, sauces, tea, etc. The seafood department has 6-7 different kinds of live oysters plus geoduck. The attached food court has good varieties but the food quality is not that high. Gift department has a lot of Japanese dining ware and cooking utensils for sale.

Amazing Selection  5 Star Rating - World class

One of the greatest supermarkets, ever. No need to qualify with "asian", because it covers so much more ground than that. Their fruit and produce aisles are like a course on plant species. I can't even pronouce half the names of the stuff, but they include small descriptions above most of them to help. Really, every section of the store is like that. They have everything you need and plenty of stuff you probably didn't know existed. They're also a great source of sashimi grade fish for homemade sushi.

A paradise of Japanese foods!  5 Star Rating - World class

Yep, this store rocks! Uwajimaya is the place to go if you are looking for Japanese or other Asian foods in the Seattle area.

It is located off of 6th Avenue in the International District which is close to the I-5 freeway.

They have a wide variety of Japanese and Asian produce, meats, seafood, ramen, rice, canned goods, snacks, pastries, drinks/teas, etc. Also on the premises is the Kinokuniya Bookstore, a household and gift section, and a lunch counter.

I only wish that they had one of these back in Las Vegas!

NOTE: Be sure to keep your parking ticket with you as you can get it validated at the register for buying a certain $$$ amount.

PROS: Great selection of Japanese/Asian foods.

great place for everything asian  4 Star Rating - Very good

This place is amazing. It's a little more expensive than some of the other Asian groceries around this area, but their selection is unmatchable! Cheap deli section, also. They have a whole aisle practically for soy sauce, one for noodles, and a great variety of hard-to-find produce.

the largest variety of japanese products in seattle  4 Star Rating - Very good

there is a huge variety of japanese products available at this grocery store that cannot be found in any other nearby asian grocery store. and the meats at uwajimaya are the cleanest than any other market that i have been to. i would highly recommend buying meats at this particular store. however, there is not a large selection of sake. rather, there are only cheap sake.

Seattle Rolls Are Good  5 Star Rating - World class

i love Uwajimayas for many reasons. i grew up in seattle and spent a lot of time downtown with my father. we would end up at Waji's a lot and i was always facinated with all of the different asian products and foods. i was wary about it's move, but it's been a good thing. there are even more products and better prices. the produce price and selection can't be beat and it's a wonderful place to get exotic and local seafood. i have a fasination with asian candy/sweets and there is no lack of interesting choices. the food court is an interesting idea and has a great selection as well.

Too busy on weekends, but lots of great food!  5 Star Rating - World class

I love Uwajimaya! They have cheap veggies, which QFC and Safeway generally charge too much for. They also have a huge selection of specialty asian foods that are to die for. Their seafood section is great too, fresh/live fish, crabs, lobsters, etc.

This is also the only place that I have been able to find those rice wrappers for springrolls. They tend to have some things that regular grocery stores would never think of carrying.

PROS: Great selection of Asian foods, cheap veggies.
CONS: Crowded at times, hard to find parking.

all kinds of groceries from Japan  5 Star Rating - World class

This place is pretty close to where I work, so I like to stop in during my lunch hour or after work to get food. They have aisle after aisle of Japanese foods, and some of them seem kind of weird, but theres some really good stuff too. Its the only place to come if you want to roll your own sushi at home or get little tiny donuts stuffed with sweet bean paste!

Large Japanese & Asian grocery store in Seattle  4 Star Rating - Very good

This is the place to go for Japanese grocery shopping in Seattle. There?s a nice produce section with everything from Japanese mushrooms (shimeji, shiitake, enoki, etc.) to persimmons, gobo (burdock), etc. They also have a nice selection of nattou, miso, etc. as well as an section with Asian gifts.
Besides Japanese food, they also carry many other Asian foods (Chinese, Korean, Indonesian, ?) but in some cases the foods in the other-Asian category are available cheaper at other Asian groceries elsewhere in the International District.
Basically it?s the premier Japanese (+) grocery in Seattle.

PROS: Unrivaled selection of Japanese groceries
CONS: Foods from China/SE Asia are sometimes available cheaper elsewhere

huge asian grocery  5 Star Rating - World class

Located in the International District, Uwajamaya is the best Asian super-grocery store in Seattle. I love to go just for the packaging alone. The tofu is really cheap compared to other chain grocery stores. Lots of cool asian knicknacks and a Huge selection of asian foods that are fun to try and expemint with for dinner.

Massive selection of imported groceries and other products  4 Star Rating - Very good

Everyone in Seattle knows of Uwajimaya, and for good reason. It is THE place to shop for SE Asian ethnic groceries and other products. Uwajimaya has more floor space and a larger selection than most neighborhood chain grocery stores. The attached deli has a selection of 10 different ethnic restaurants (Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, etc.) and the attached bookstore likewise has a large selection of foreign language products.

Awesome Asian Selection for Food and House stuff  5 Star Rating - World class

When in need of Asian sauces, vegetables or novelty items this is the perfect place. The store is huge and has several sections to it. Their prices range from being really cheap to expensive. It really depends what you're after. I'm a bargain shopper so I go to Uwajimaya just for my Asian stuff. To be more specific it's Japanese food shopping. You won't find like Chinese buns or Chinese baked goods there.

It's a great place to pick up some big bowls for noodle soup. They often have several selections on sale. They've got other household and kitchen items there as well like rice cookers to chopsticks.

If you feel like sushi (we love it) and you're on the go definitely take a look at their selection in the seafood department. You can get sashimi sliced up and ready to eat or you can buy it and bring it home to slice. It's cheaper that way and well worth it if you have your favorites.

They also have free parking with validation which is a big plus. They have a sister store in Bellevue, but it's just not the same and they don't have as much of a selection.

An amusing place to shop and wander about  5 Star Rating - World class

Very much a "Japanese" experience, Uwajimaya is always a pleasant place to shop for groceries and gifts. They also carry an array of other Asian foods even instant foods for the bachelors and bachelorettes who know nothing about preparing Asian food. I am amazed at its plethora of insta-curry packets and canned coffees, yet Uwajimaya satisfies nearly every Japanese/Asian inclination. The clerks there are generally pleasant, and the place is extremely clean on the inside, especially for a high traffic grocery store nestled in the heart of Seattle's International District. In addition, finding ample parking can be an adventure or disappointment, depending on your point of view.

Like visiting another country, with grrrreat food!  5 Star Rating - World class

Uwajimaya is a pan-Asian supermarket and dry goods store (and bookstore and food court) located in the International District of Seattle.

If you are Asian, and miss some kind of food, chances are they will have it. If you just want to explore and experiment with another culture, it's a great place to go too. And not only is the produce, meat and fish interesting in variety, it is HIGH quality too. Very different from a Safeway or QFC, that's for sure.

I like to go down for a lunch adventure sometime, to get some Spam sashimi or another exotic food for lunch, and just feel the difference in culture.

A fun tourist thing to do too.

All of Your Asian Grocery Needs Are Here!  5 Star Rating - World class

I have been shopping at Uwajimaya in downtown Seattle since I was a kid. They have the best variety of local and exotic fruits, vegetables, seafood, and Asian tasty treats. They have an entire section dedicated to live and fresh seafood and a diverse food court full of variou Asian style restaurants. The food court has food from Hawaii, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, and China. This grocery store has all of your cooking and hunger needs. I highly recommend this store.

PROS: Huge variety, exotic products, competitive prices, friendly staff, and validated parking.
CONS: Some of the prices can be expensive if you don't shop around. Don't forget to get your stub validated when you check out or you'll be charged at the gate.

Uwajimaya  5 Star Rating - World class

Uwajimaya is the mecca for Asian food connoisseurs in Seattle. You'll find not only Japanese products, but Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Filipino, Hawaiian, Thai, and more. Also a hint: Uwajimaya is not only one of the greatest supermarkets of Seattle, it's also one of the best places to scope the local dating scene. Plenty of eye candy strolling among the aisles as well as the food court!

PROS: Be prepared to spend a pretty penny.

4 Star Rating - Very good

Uwajimaya is Seattle's most well-known Asian grocery store. The store carries primarily Japanese products, but also has Chinese, Filipino, Thai, Vietnamese, Korean, Indonesian, and Western products that Asian recipes often call for. The one thing you can count on Uwajimaya for is the AMAZING vegetable selection - you name it, you can find it. I have found Chinese broccoli, durian, and bamboo there before - all in one stop shopping!
