I just moved to the neighborhood this week and Rainier is my closest bike shop. I went in to check out the shop and get a couple of brake cables. I go to the back counter where the owner and a mechanic are hanging out, and ask for two brake cables. He retrieves the cables out of a bulk file box and rings them up and tells me the total- $18 and ninety something cents! I ask again thinking I misheard. Nope. He wants almost $19 for two bulk brake cables!!! At this point I don't know what to say. I point out that bulk cables only cost the shop about a buck a piece. He's not budging. I ask if they're gold plated, he doesn't think its funny. So I say no thanks and head outside, where I call Old Town. They quote me a price of $3.99 each, which is pretty standard retail pricing. I go back inside Rainier and the owner completely ignores me like I'm not there. The mechanic comes out and asks what I want, I say that I just called Old Town and that they quoted me $3.99 per cable. I also explain that I just moved to the neighborhood and that Rainier is my closet shop and I'd really like to give them my business, and would they match Old Town's price. His answer- "I think you'd better head to Old Town". And that's exactly what I'd reccomend you do - head to Old Town.

This shop has a lot of high end products and very nice bikes but you do have to get past the egos of the guys in the shop (which is a problem at most bike shops).

I hate writing bad reviews, but unfortunately I simply have nothing good to say about this business. They have displayed a very unprofessional attitude toward this neighborhood community. Very rude and abrasive toward children (not just my own). I remember my local bike shop growing up - they wanted to help teach and excite kids about bikes, adults too. I miss that kind of attitude in business today. I wish them well, but they will not get another dollar from me (and I've spent plenty at this shop).

This is a great bike store. They are really helpful and knowledgeable. I went there to find a light to put on my bike and they helped me right away. I would definitely go back for anything else I need for my bike.
