I have been a cyclist most of my life and have had experience with all of the shops in Spokane. I can tell you that Spoke-N-Sport is a shop that I will never go into again.
Rob and his brother do treat people "less than good". In my experiences with them, they walk away from you and hide in the back if you are not willing to throw down any money as soon as you walk in the door.
Some people want to talk about bikes....some just want more info than the magazines have to offer...these guys do NOT want to do that ! "If you aren't buying, we aren't talking to you" should be the stores motto.
Glad there are more than a few shops to choose from in this great city. What a shame

I have a weird, special bike, and have had some excellent repairs from Spoke n Sport. Their prices are reasonable and they've been very ethical with me. For example, I've had my bike overhauled several different places over the years, and they're the only shop that has charged less because my front hub doesn't need overhauling (I've had a Phil Wood hub on that for 8 years).
They are limited in what they can do with Campy stuff, but they'll do what they can and not lie about what they can't. Again, they knocked off an additional 20 bucks on the overhaul price because they couldn't do the bottom bracket (needs a special Campy tool). Honestly, they totally could have charged me for that, not done the work, and I wouldn't have known the difference.
These guys are straight shooters, Mic is a good wrench...you'll do all right here.

I went in here to get an old bike (20 yrs old) tuned up. While I'm not super knowledgeable about bikes, and don't have the fanciest ride around, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful.
They talked me through everything I'd need to know without making me feel silly, and encouraged me to browse around the store -- plus they didn't once try to pressure me into buying anything.
I love this place and will definitely be back in the future.

I have bought two road bikes and am going to buy another from Spoke & Sport in the last 9 months. The value for the price is much better there than all the other places in town. They don't carry as many brands, but the Giant's are terrific bikes that are much more bike than others at the four other shops for the same price. The fitting is something a few of the other stores were lacking --- further, the follow up help w/o additional charge has been great. They get service, but are not arrogant or phony. Soon all three of us will have great carbon road bikes from S&S. I recommend you visit. Looks trashy from the outside, but it is worth the visit if you do your homework.

All that I have to say is I love Spoke N Sport. I bought my road bike from them last year. They are really down to earth guys, and very friendly. They know what they are talking about. They sale only giant bikes, which is fine with me because that is the biggest man. in the US. They can always answer my questions and are willing to help me if I have any questions about anything. I am actually sending my friend and mom to go get a race bike from them. It's not badly priced, and very nice bikes.

My brother, his friend and I have been searching around Spokane for some good deals on some good bikes. When we visited spoke n sport we found great customer service that helped us find bikes that fit our needs. We were all on a budget so they also found bikes that were in our price range. Also the service after you buy a bike here is the best in town. Other stores only allowed one revisit for tune ups. Here they encouraged us to constantly bring our bikes in for any need free of labor charge. The people here are very friendly and want people to find a good bike, for a good price, and get in and out fast to go riding!

This is a review of the reviewers...My name is Rob Breidenbach, I own Spoke 'N Sport with my brother Dave....One guys says we treat people like pond scrum, we have been in business since 1978...Don't stay in a rough business like bikes without good service... We don't treat people like pond scum, we treat them the same way they treat us!! Our store is a good shopping experience, lots of inventory and very price competitive....Stroking someone up is not customer service, getting the job done is....Since you write I only sell Treks and I have never sold Treks I suggest you get your facts staight....Also we have quite a large store...My guess is you have the wrong place. As far as the unicycle, I do all the special orders, I remember a special order written on a slip, it was not paid for...All special orders are payment up front, because they are small orders and when you figure in time and freight you lose money on most of them. We are masters of special needs and orders, we are not fools. People who don't want to pay up front on a non stock item are hedgeing their bets they'll find it cheaper or someone might have it in stock, then we eat it...Not bad customer service, smart!!! I threw your slip in the garbage yesterday as I was going though the special order file. It read as an inquiry to a piece, not an order and no payment was received. Rob

I went in to special order parts for a unicycle that I had bought from them and to buy a new road bike. When I special ordered the part for the unicycle they told me one week and I paid them for it. One week later I came in for the part, the said they didn't get it yet, and when I questioned them about getting it they said they didn't want my business and return the money for the part. They even tried ripping me off by not giving me back the sales tax on the item. When I asked about a certain road bike they said that it would fit and that it took an experience rider to ride and maintain it without me ever telling them about my riding or getting fit for the bike. I will never be going back to this shop again. If you do, don't expect any customer service from them.

These guys are great -- fair, fast, and they do first rate repair work. We've bought bikes from everyone in town and these guys are consistently best.
