I have purchased a long rifle from them and I have have used the shooting range several times. Customer service seems decent. Shooting range is really only a good deal if you purchase the annual membership. The Range itself could use some repairs. They offer rentals for the range but you must purchase there ammo which is not cheap. All and all I have been very satisfied with them in general. Are they going to have the best prices you can find not likely but they are not through the roof either.

My review is based on phone contact only, I've not yet been to the range. The person I spoke with was poliet - courteous and helpful. I got just the information I needed without the call feeling hurried, rushed or in any way abrupt. I didn't get that "hurrying to get you off the phone so I can move on to something more pressing/possibly more lucrative" feeling some business calls leave you with. Nor was I forced to listen to an uninvited sales pitch or drone about this or that having nothing whatsoever to do with the reason why I was calling that day. Which I wouldn't have had time to stay on the line for anyway. Another thing I appreciated was that the gentleman I spoke with didn't talk down to me or bombard me with a lot of jargon and techno speak. He quickly determined why I was calling, provided the information I was looking for and handled the call in a proffesional manner. I feel a lot better now about going in and maybe doing business with them in the future. After a female sales clerk at Griggs department store reccomended Hole in the Wall I went online to learn more about the business and found this site. Some of the reviews were a bit disconcerting. If men who were informed about firearms were having so much trouble there I asked myself well then perhaps not being familliar with guns at all this isn't the place for me. In the past my experience with men knowledgable about firearms outside my own family has been that while most very respectful of other men who know as much about firearms as they do, some tend to be very dismissive of, even impatient with women who aren't as knowledgable about these things as they are. So it seemed well if this was the level of accomodation being given men, then how much longer might I stand there in the store being completely ignored, waiting for help and assistance. I considered just going and bringing my sons one or the other with me. Yet being 47 years old I feel I should'nt have to resort to using my sons as some sort of crutch to do my speaking for me. Not when all I'm seeking is really only just basic good business manners - reasonable customer service. In any case after the phone call I now feel much better about going in. I just wanted to write this review so in case other women feel as off put by some of the posts here as I did they can rest a little more assured knowing at least on the phone anyway these guys aren't as bad as it's easy to imagine based on the way some of the posts here sound. Now it dose I'll admit remain to be seen what experience/reception I'll recieve if and when I go in. But so far my gut reaction experience has been that I'm left with positive feeling. If go in and see that I missed judged the sittuation based on the good customer care I recieved over the phone then I'll be sure to return to this site and let others know.

I am a bit taken back by the rather disappointing experience of others. I had a tremendous experience.
I went to hole in the wall to try out their indoor shooting range. When I got inside the shop I decided to look around to see what they had. I was quite impressed at what they had.Lots of gun and rifle accesories. My experience with most gun shops is that they either concentrate on expensive guns or focus on cheaper guns.Hole in the wall's collection cut across all price range. They also had a section for used and new items. I was not pressured by the usual "may I help you find something" just to let you know that someone is keeping an eye on you. I spent so much time looking around and was impressed at the price of the items I saw.Unfortunately, I had no need then but promised they will be the first local store I will look in on if I were to shop locally.
Then the best came. I went to the front desk and asked the guy if I could use the range. He was very nice and asked me if I had been there before and I said No. He then asked if I had been to any range before and I said Yes.I guess He was checking that I knew about gun safety and range rules.I do know that different ranges have different rules though the basic rule is gun safety at all times and respect and courtesy for other users. He was very courteous and gave me a form to fill out and initial after reading their rules. I told him that I had my own handgun and wanted to pay for ammo. He asked me to take as much ammo as I wanted and after shooting I should come back with the empty boxes to the counter to pay. Talk of trust.I was thoroughly flabbergasted.
The range was neat and comfortable.Noise control was adequate and light conditions were good.At first I was the only guy then to be joined by another shooter who then left later. I enjoyed my shooting that emptying 2 boxes of 50 rounds of Winchester ammo in .45 mm was a breeze.

I highly recommend this indoor range. The staffer I met was very professional and the range met my expectations.

I did take the advice of one of the negative reviewers and went to jgsales.com and ammotogo to search for the price on guns and ammo and was disappointed at their high prices! If you prefer to shop for guns online checkout Budsgunshop or cheaperthandirt or ableammo between these three you will get the current lowest cost on guns. If you want to search for the price of ammo online, check out ammo seek. Ammo seek is a great internet site and will give you a price comparism of ammo prices between differrent online ammo retailers. Happy shopping.

This truly is the WORST gun shop I have ever been to. The clerk said that they would charge me an FFL fee that would be no less than 10% of the cost of the firearm (that's right, if I bought a gun for $1,500- I would have to pay a $150 transfer fee!).

Their gun prices are horrible as well, anyone with a brain can find the same gun for 25% less at ny ACE Hardware or at Ranch & Home. They try to sell used guns for the cost it was new as well. I realize that everyone is just trying to make a profit, but I'm no newbie to sales.

Their indoor range is the only thing worth mentioning...however when I was in there it was literally freezing (had to wear a coat!) and they refused to change it (I was told that other customers would complain, even though I was the only one in the store!).

If anyone doubts my claims on prices then go to http://www.gunbroker.com/FFL/SearchForFFL.aspx?st=Zip%20Code&sv=99352 and find a dealer in your area....ask them how much they charge! Most dealers don't charge more than $30, flat rate for tranfers!

And the gun prices? Go to jgsales.com and have a gander.

Ammo? Go to Ammotogo.com.

I've had nothing but great service. I'm not one of their good ole boys as my son and I have been going there for only a few weeks. They've not chrarged me to shoot a few times because I purchased ammo from them and answered my 20...thousand questions courtiously. I like it there. And, BTW...there prices are like any other place in town...really good on some items, the same as others and higher than others. Its the consumers job to make and get the best deal. I'd reccommend the place to anyone.

Horrible service. My dad knows the guy that used to run the place. (Rick). When they remodeled the store, the service went down hill and Rick has since moved over to Ranch and Home and has done a stellar job there. As for hole in the wall, Ive been in there probably a hundred times. Mostly just because they have a gun range. If it weren't for the range i wouldn't set foot in there. The service is atrocious. Several times I saw the employees eating burger king at the counter while customers were getting annoyed and leaving. I agree with the person who wrote about their customer base being the "good old boys" because the only people that i ever see getting any real help in there is friends of the staff and people who spend tons of money at a time. One of the staff members runs a waterfowl guide service. I tried to ask about a hunt with his guide service and i was brushed off. That's no way to do business. I wish someone would open up another indoor firing range in the tri-cities and if that happened I would be willing to bet hole in the wall would close down within a year.

New to shooting, I went to Hole in the wall and was treated with respect and the staff was VERY helpful, never made me feel stupid and welcomed ALL of my questions. They are knowledgeable without being "I-know-more-than-yooouuu" as of course they DO know more than me. Still, nice friendly guys, helpful but not pushy and they were willing to spend almost a 1/2 hour looking for "my"gun on line when they did not have it in stock.

I consigned one handgun, and bought another.
The price we agreed upon for the consignment couldn't have been too high, it sold in a reasonable time.
As for individual customer service, just right, you get to browse, or you can request specific info.
I liked the relaxed, no pressure service, will visit them in the future.

Surprised at some of the negative feedback. My experience is that HITW is a look-you-in-the-eye firm-handshake establishment. A mumbling hands-in-pockets approach won't get far. Speak up, stand tall, and you'll get great service. I've bought and sold several weapons there over the years and always been treated with respect and fairness. Regarding used gun prices: many of these are being sold on consignment. Don't fault the shop for high prices set by the seller.

Horrendous service. If you can GET service. I'm going to 2nd Doug's analysis. I stood around for 20 minutes, and was not even acknowledged by the "staff." It was by no means busy, but one guy was "tied up" on the phone, the other was BS'ing with a friend. When I approached a waiting staff member with a question, I was disregarded. They continually started conversations with friends that came in to loiter and BS, but weren't interested in making a sale with me. I have a feeling that they stay in business through their "good ol' boy" connections and the fact that they're equipped with an indoor shooting range. I suppose they don't need to sell guns to people they don't know.

At the time I was looking for a decently-priced shotgun. My eyes settled on the low-end Maverick 88. They had a couple used at their shop and when I looked them over, they were scratched with a bit too much movement in stock and action, which wouldn't have been a big issue if they hadn't been selling them for more than they can be found for, brand new.

Bottom line: Wide selection but over-priced, absolute LACK of customer service. . .unless they know your father -- apparently that's their prerequisite for purchasing a firearm. Go with Columbia Gun Rack.

Went shooting at the indoor range there with my .45, it was fun, they had a lot of different targets to choose from and cheap at that. I paid about 7 bucks to shoot with military discount. Went back a few weeks later and picked up a one of kind FAL PARA that they were selling for someone. That was probably my AR type rifle being put together on the counter! They went above and beyond just selling me that rifle to help me get it all together. Also gave me information for a range to go shoot it, I'm new to the area. I would do business with them again definently

Great independent gun shop. I am from Walla Walla and have purchased 3 guns there in the last year. I got a great deal on a new Kimber 45 (much better price the the box stores). A Colt AR-15 $100 cheaper than other places I checked and a very nice used Smith 29 44 mag. They have very freindly sales staff that are not pushy and very helpfull.I like their shooting range and they have the best selection of new and used guns at good prices. My only complaint is they are not in Walla Walla so I don't get to go as much as I would Like.

Absolutely the worst gun shop in the state of Washington.
I have been there twice in the last month. Neither time was I waited on. First time in, one guy is on the phone and doesn't even acknowledge me. The other guy is at the counter building an AR type rifle. He looks up and nods his head and that is it. I hang around for a few minutes waiting for the guy to get off the phone or at least for one to tell me they will be with me shortly. After about 10 minutes I leave. A few weeks later I go back in and same thing, one guy on the phone the other guy is at least helping another customer. Again I stand around for about ten minutes and then leave. This is the worst service I have ever seen. I could get more help I a big box store. Everyone I talk to says the same thing. They won??t shop there.

Can??t imagine how they stay in business.

This would be a nice place to open a gun shop.

I used to come here with my Dad when I was little. Since then it's moved locations and expanded. It does have an indoor pistol range in the basement. Large selection of fishing tackle and poles, guns, ammo, targets, decoys and more. They are prepared to ship and receive guns for you. And have been known to chat it up about who's catching what and where, and what bait is selling well. They also carry a great wildlife calendar.
